- Hello Everyone! It's been a while since I published on this channel! Today I'm sharing with you my experience at this year's MCM Comic Con in London.
There were a lot of issues that need to be addressed. This will let you know what happened and hopefully, in the next edition, these issues will be sorted.

My friend and I personally had a good time but it's good to hear about issues that other people have and raise awareness. Hope things improve.
I think we were just unlucky to not know that we couldn’t come back inside and stuff like that.. although there could have been better signage as well…
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I've been attending MCM Comic Con biannually for nearly 20 years now. It's strange they made you loop around, this was tried back in 2017 and failed miserably so they introduced that if you have a pass you can re-enter from the same point. They introduced last year instant bag check scanners last year. I must admit there was less there this year compared to last October. I would always recommend attending on a Friday or a Sunday. There is a Tesco just up the road too if you need cheap snacks.
As an experienced MCM Comic Con-er my advice would be:
1) Always attend on the Friday if you can. It's much less crowded than Saturday (due to Work and School) and unlike Sunday there's less chance of Train Disruption.
2) Pack a lunch with you. A bottle of drink (soda, water, energy drink), chocolate bar, bag of crisps etc. Anything that's easy to carry and will give you a boost of energy.
2.5) Avoid the food stalls. They're too busy and there won't be enough tables to eat at. Also, leaving the venue early was just a bad idea all around.
I personally have made plenty of mistakes attending previous MCM Expo's. Last year in May, me and my Dad drove there and parked underneath the Excel Centre. To get in we had to walk around the entire outside of the Building, roughly 1KM. That was rough. By comparison this years show went extremely well.
we usually do Saturdays because that's when our group has more chances of having a day off T.T I went by myself on a Sunday and it was definitely better in terms of fullness
I always carry snacks and drinks with me ahah even when I'm just out in the center, I have low blood pressure so I always keep something sugary and water with me haha
And we didn't leave early T.T we thought we could go back in again like the previous years, there was no signage that we would have to go around the building again.
It's ridiculous that they make people walk so much just to get in, I get that it's more of a Excel center problem but should still be fixed
I have school on a friday 😭
WOMP WOMP
(I dont live in london anyways)
Thanks for this! Looking for info before I buy tickets for this years MCM. I would 100% do early if possible.
Can’t believe they didn’t let you back in.
I went to this too. Felt the same. Saturday just fell so flat. I think if I do again I'll only do the Sunday. Last year only did the Sunday and it was really great fun. 😅
We had priority entry tickets and definitely always enjoyed the extra time. Especially Saturday... we actually kind of 'fled' when it got too full around noon. And yeah, we really disliked the long walk to the entrance as well... which actually led to us never going back inside once we were out 🤣 and OMG yes! I almost lost my ticket twice as well because the band got loose, fortunately it just fell into my hand.
But yeah, if you want to go there again: focus on Friday, that day is the best crowd-wise
I went again on a Sunday and it was definitely better!! I travel from a bit far and just go for the day so the Priority is not really worth it for me as I don't really want to go so early :/ They actually changed the lanyards now and they seem a bit more safe!!
Saturday was blisteringly hot and overcrowded. The directions system is stupid too. If you go outside as a cosplayer/photographer you cannot go back inside through the doors on the plaza/square you have to go all around back through the security unlike previous Cons. Takes a good 15 minutes. But the people are nearly always great people and from all over the world too. They the organizers ask for feedback but never seem to listen. Photographers have asked for several years for a dedicated area or better internal lighting but nothing has changed.
Hello! I also went to comic con on Saturday. Me and my friends entered early so we didn't wait long for the whole entrance thing. I had a mostly fun time because I wasn't focused on buying anything (I was on a £9 budget) and was taking pictures with people dressed as my favourite characters. However, I did notice the fact that it was overcrowded and there was nothing disability related (ramp, ect.).
Honestly we wished we spent more time inside, when we came out we felt so disappointed cause we tried so much to see the things inside but couldn't cause it was so crowded and we missed out on the fun outside... lesson learned for next time
I've heard of disable people made to walk the same lengths, not even being able to use the disabled access it's ridiculous...
Thank you for this. I have been going to this con twice a year for a long time (apart from covid time). I worked out we walked over a mile from the underground car park to the venue. We got directed in and out of the car park at different points 3 times before even entertering the main part of the building. We were tired, sweaty and totally fed up by the time we got in. As you stated it was not that interesting, then when i saw youtube vids i saw tons we didnt see. As for going outside, lets just say it was the last straw. We lasted 3 hours which includes the hike of getting in twice!
We went on Sunday so it wasnt as busy. Im most annoyed about the ridiculous long walk, we are over 60 and in costume, it just ruined the whole day.
It's such a long walk which I understand is more of a Excel center problem and not really MCM but then they shouldn't make us have to do that whole thing again just for needing some fresh air!! I'm always so disappointed when I see other people's vlogs cause I see so many things I missed out! There's just too many people to be able to see anything properly...
It's so ridiculous honestly I don't understand why they changed it! We used to be able to get in and out easily through the glass doors... Another point of access with less walking would be so helpful as well...
Rough about the no re-entry issue and yes that is an issue. Still sorry to hear your day did not go as somewhat thought and I understand when you are talking about just too many bodies and stagnate air movement; I would have done my 1 tour and if nothing caught my buylist eye and if every other stall had the same thing +/- then I would have taken my leave and headed to the local LCG or quality cafe, if nearby. For me in the States, to attend the yearly comicon nearest me, with my long travel (2hr r/t + gas$), parking, entry & food costs I would be shelling out $100+ so yeah, I have not gone to a ccon for quite some time now. :)
We did try to do just one time around the stalls but we were moving so slow cause there was too many people and we could barely see anything anyway :/ We kept going for FOMO but we should just have gone outside and chill with the cosplayers... We'll do that next time for sure
In the end I did not spend much time inside either, because there is not a lot of interesting stuff aside from the shop. But I think is a general complaint Ive had since I came to the UK and started to go to cons. Most of the stuff was already massed, you couldnt ven see the cosplay masquerade which is a shame. Overall is just your run down the mill MCM and they have gotten a lil more crowded with the pandemic. So I always recommend this to most people. Just go inside whenever necesary and just stay outside for most of the time where the fun is.
It's just so commercial if it makes sense. So many bootleg stalls selling the same Aliexpress drop shipping! I go mostly for the Artist Alley which they seem to be trying to get rid of based on how many people didn't manage to get stalls this year....
I will try to spend more time outside for sure! It just sucks we pay so much for a ticket to basically stay outside in the grass T.T
@@eliinwonderland24 yeah understandable in the end most shops in the cons are always the same with the same stuff and is ridiculous. The only good side with the aliexpress stuff is that you can check the quality with no extra surprises
Go on a Sunday if you can, it is still a lot of people but Sat must be the most crowded day.
I did in October! It was definitely easier to walk around, I had a better experience than in May
I posted a comic con vlog because you inspired me!🤭
I'm glad! :D
HeyitsErnie! hehe. Wow, I'm sorry you didn't have a good time. I think every event should have re-entry. Some events here will have a sign saying "No Re-Entry at this point". But what a waste going around and waiting 20 more minutes.
I think Saturdays are the most crowded at events. With Fridays, people are still working or at school. And with Sundays, sometimes the vendors will leave early or not be there anymore and it shouldn't be very crowded. But it would be nice if that place would have air conditioning.
But I'm glad you were with your boyfriend and best friend. That's a plus there.
There should have been a sign for sure! It would have made things easier cause we could have organized our day differently instead of wasting so much time in the morning
We always prefer to go Saturday because of the days off, its harder to get days off Sunday or Friday :/
We stopped going to MCM when some of the staff were abusive to disabled people, perved on women, and even allowed cosplayers and photographers known for sexual abuse/harassment of others, to just casually walk in rather than be banned. Hoping it's improved since then.
I went on Sunday and when I went outside there was a different entrance too come back in from the outside
We saw people getting in from another entrance on the side (not sure if it was the same one) but when we asked if we could go in they said it was only for priority tickets
Im going to london in May, i'm from Barbados.
Im going on Saturday but with priority, and i plan on staying the whole day. I believe a lot of persons would have that same mentality, so it would definitely look like no one is leaving.
i intend on returning sunday with general tickets.
This year tickets have gone up. #2024
And yes i buy all my anime stuff from aliexpress. 😅. I will be purchasing only food and taking pictures of cosplays. (Maybe anything original).
My question; there is no AC?
I’m probably going to go in May again ahaha I had a better experience last October, probably because it was a Sunday, but let’s see this May… there is AC but there was just so many people that it was not enough, definitely bring enough water and maybe a portable fan (I was bring those two things with me now hah) hope you have a great time here! Maybe we’ll see each other in the event :)
It's all about the financials, not the fandom and saturday is the worst to go to MCM comic con... I rather go on friday
I went in October on a Sunday and it was definitely better. I’m interested in trying to attend other cons as well to see the difference
I have trauma from the abuse from the security shouting at my face aggressively to me absolutely disgusting F$CK MCM
I went with my friend and we were both dissapointed. I went before covid and it was much bigger and better. I wont go again as it is not worth my time and money.
i'm going on a saturday 😫. (i'm cosplaying as tanjiro btw)
Ill find you there them
@@Nuhuhmuzuki loll
I procastinated too much deciding if I was going or not and the tickets sold out in the meantime T.T There's still Sunday available so I might do that... not paying for the priority tickets for sure though
@@eliinwonderland24 awwww
saturdays at cons sucks eggs l m a o but YOLO we wild out here 🧑🍳
honestly it's an experience ahahah I went again on a Sunday and it was definitely better
20min to wait is so fast ????
I just realised i did say 20 but I meant to say 40 haha and this was after we were already in and had to do the whole thing again, including security
Too hot and sweaty there
