so Christmas came around and an argument arose about my sanity, any1 remember an ad about butter and a maintenance guy spreading butter on a table corner and taking a bite out of it? it was on tv and magazines.
I dont remember but hopefully someone else does
Yes, absolutely I remember. I don't know if it was a Maintenance man , but a dude defoes spread-the-butter-on-the-desk-corner-and-took-a-bite-cos-why-not (I thought it looked yummy ☺)...
I think there was another where a school teacher spread butter on the edge of the chalkboard (again, why wouldn't you?) and took a happie, that one didn't appeal to me, because teeth on a *_Chalkboard_* {{shudder}}
I wanna say it was "Superior" butter/margarine.

I was in my early years of marriage, a young mother, my ex husband on the border, copying with everything on my own. But we were safe, life costs were low, and my whole life was still ahead of me. Now i am 66, divorced 25 years back, children married and overseas. Now i am fighting a new war. Those were the days....
I recall most of them but since I stopped watching TV in the 90's there are one or 2 that I don't remember.

Why am I the only one that remembers the early 80s Strepsils advert with Dracula? Can't find it anywhere.
I always remember the old Simba ad... "Excitement is in the air, Simba and his friends are coming. They're gonna use the freshest potatoes in all of Simbaland..." Still remember all of the words, especially the 'I wanna be a Simba chippie, then grow a little more my spuddie!''

Awesome to see especially since the RSA didn’t even start TV until 1976! Extremely interesting stuff to me especially since I used to listen to Radio RSA and used to receive a few different stations from the RSA especially local stations in the 60 meter band. Superb! That Volkswagen ad really got to me. Like to see more people get along like that.

Very interesting! Ads are so powerful as it's meant to be. Loved the VW ads! I grew up in the US and the car ads I remenber well was Toyota and their slogan, "Oh what a feeling!" is etched in my brain.

for anyone who's never been to South Africa, the orange drink character in the Oros ad is saying "Naartjie" (Afrikaans word for a variety of tangerine), not "Nazi", as i had to tell a workmate 🙂

Awesome compilation! There was a Mercedes ad of a Mercedes going over the edge of a pass and the person survived. Ad tells us about the safety features. Then BMW came out with an ad going over the same bend on that pass and not crashing. Tag line BMW beats the bends. Do you have it?!
