One of the styles papa San created that would win him any clash back in the day he would tell the selectors to put on the fastest beat he had in the record box and then he would say buck the pitch on the turntable and he would destroy that beat without missing a note , no one could top that, the only person who came close was stichie but San was the greatest and that is why I always say that the Dancehall music was never about a specific type of beat but the creativity that an artist like papa San could have bought forward through the Jamaican language and doing it on any type of rhythm aka riddim and no one can dispute that, and although I am not a gospel music fan he has taken that same creativity into that music and still making moves so respect to the great papa San and all my black people who everyday prove you are the creator of Everything and still remain humble with it ,Heights of spirituality.

Every time I listen to interviews with veteran dancehall artiste and they talk about sound clash the #1 name they always mention is the great General Trees. Trees never use any dirty lyrics or gun lyrics and kill everything him faced. Back in the days when Papa San, Lt. Stitchie and Ninja Man use to clash with other DJ's, you couldn't play those type of cassettes around little children or respectable people. General Trees kill everything with clean lyrics without telling a man about his gal or mother.

Papa San I love as a D.j one of the best ever I heard live on cassette but you have to be honest the fast style might have been done first in J.A according to you but the fast style was perfected & given life by Saxon Studio D.j’s Philip Levi’s Mi God Mi King was the biggest D.j tune when it buss in 1984 that tune changed the whole concept of Reggae music as we knew it back then & Levi was doing long lyrics tune finish & still deejaying from 1983 that’s on cassette.. What I loved about San was he would start a lyric get quarter way through get a pull up & start the lyric from where he was stopped only bad d.j’s knew how do that.. when Saxon d.j’s buss I knew a d.j from JA would come to match them & that was Papa San…

You're definitely correct. I remember the 1st time listening to San on cassette in late 83 with Ringo coming late in the session. I thought San had great potential but I didn't know how great he would become. If I ever see my old DJ sound partner again we definitely have to swap some cassettes as most are not online.

Listening to Pap San is a very young guy,I heard him talking about Steorphonic.I know that when he went to Stereophonic,at that time General Echo already dead in 1980.I and General Echo Born in the same year, and I am about 4 months older than Echo.San I guessed born 1966 or 67 young guy, in 1980 he was about 13 years when General Echo died. Most of the DJ who he is talking about came out in the 1980s, they were no way in the 1970s. Young DJs in 1970s was General Echo, Wilton Irie, Sassafras, Early B, Ranking Trevor, Charlie Chaplin, Ranking Joe, Hugh Brown, Yellow Man was coming, all the rest of DJS came in the 1980s,Peter Metro, Admiral Bailey, Purple Man, Risco Benjie, Long Ranger, Burro Banton, Tiger, Shabby Ranks, Ninja man, Papa San, General Tree . They are all 1980 s DJs, they were nowhere around in the 1970s deejaying at no dance hall,or house party at all. When I lived in Waterhouse in 1968 going to King Tubbys Hi power, during Uroy days. I was a teenager and King Jammys did not have any sound system,I know when he was learning trade with King 👑 Tubbys. My family move to Waterhouse in 1951 , so I know what am saying about the area.I useto go to Black scarpio in the 1960s long before General Trees go there. Also I know URoy long before he owes his sound system, and recorded a song. But let me reminds Papa San that from in the 1960s, sound system was crowded as the number one. Also singers, DJs. Because he is too young to know those things, because he was not born as yet.But let remind Papa San that the 1st singer in Jamaica was crowded as the king of rocksteady, was Alton Ellis in the 1960s, and the 1st DJ was crowded in Jamaica was King Stitch in 1960s.Some people is lacking proper information about the history of the Jamaican music fraternity, and they won't asked the elders to tell them. When it comes to sound system in Jamaica, some of the earliest pioneer. Was Duke Reid was from the 1950s, Tubbys,Coxenne, Down Beat, come in the early 1960s. Black scarpio, Tubbys just to mentioned a few of them, came in the middle of the 1960s.I remembered when my married in 1964 I was a schoolboy and,it was Duke Reid who played at her wedding 💒 reception. Most of the people them, who was born after independence august 6th 1962. There is a lot of information that they don't about,in the music fraternity. Because most of the people in Jamaica does not know the intricacies, about the Jamaican music fraternity at all. The man who responsible for the music fraternity in Jamaica,is name his Vere John. Who found singers like Alton Ellis, Millie Small, Desmond Dekker, Roy Shirley, John Holt, Dobby Dobson,Bob Marley and the wailers. That man start to recruit singers in the United States in New York City, in 1924 and returned to Jamaica in 1939 and. Started his music career talent show, searching for singers. He useto have a radio show on RJR named the Vere John opportunities show,I useto listened to his show in the 1960s. He in 1966, so none of these younger generation in Jamaica. Does not know nothing about Vere John opportunities show, there is a lot of info which younger generation like Papa San does not know about.I know that you have some cyber bullies out there, they think they know about the music fraternity in Jamaica and. They does born the other day, but you as the elders cannot tell them nothing at all.I have never seeing Papa San in person, I heard about him.As a up coming DJ while I am living in foreign, also Ninja man, Shabby Ranks.
