I've been binge watching your mole videos as I have at least one in my lawn. I'm using traps but no sucess as yet. But the mole is seldom creating mole hills but what appears to be shallow tunnels by virtue of the turf being raised. I've tried to follow your guidance... any advice? Thank you.

The mole in your lawn could be searching for something that lives just under the surface. Surface tunnels are a bit of a nightmare tbh because they rarely use them more than once. Is the mole travelling from next door maybe, to feast on whatever is living under your grass? What country are you in?

Is there any bait I can use or do I need to wait for mole Hills to appear to place the traps between two molehills? I have seen videos where the mole has been dug out if spotted coming to the surface but that is a waiting game. Should I flatten the surface tunnels or leave them?
@@sportmurphy4392 you can set traps in just one mole hill. There are no poisons you can use for moles. You could try putange traps or online traps in surface runs, but a barrel trap in a mole hill would be best.
We don’t have gophers in the UK, so I can’t tell you much to be honest! From trapping lots of different species of pest though there are some things you could try. I would remove the traps completely for a week or two. If it were moles I’d kick over all the new mole hills when I did this (that way when you come back the new hills tell you where they are most active). I’d also try a different trap as they may have gotten wise to the ones you used before.
@@PestInterceptors They are not territorial, I have cleared 100's of hectars of arable fields and can tell you they are actually moving around through each other. Where I live in Poland it actually looked like there were thousands of Moles as the whole village and fields were just totally ripped up. After trapping over a few square miles, usually at junctions of field tracks and setting the trap back after a kill would catch one after another. After several weeks of trapping and about 200 Moles the place looked better, then the next year noticed that all the Moles had gone up and down the roadside for miles. From my experience know they are moving about and where you get intense Mole activity is a breeding site, there are actually 4 females to 1 Male so they need to be constantly crossing paths to pick up on each others scent to breed. And I have also discovered there are main routes where when they start infiltrating again will always come that way after all they have dug millions of miles of tunnels through generations. Only in one instance have I caught 1 Mole and have had 5 years of peace and that was the first Mole I ever caught at my Partners place that had a problem for years prior. And a dead Mole left in the tunnel frightens nothing, I have at times missed picking a trap up for weeks and it has killed and another Mole has dug straight under the decomposing body , so that is a myth. You would be better removing the Mole and reset the trap in the same place. When you get three days quiet it's over for the time being.

The trap which I bought is same that you show at 9:20 mark (made in PRC) and first trap arming was very difficult and had to step on trap to arm it, but after first catch (in 36 h timespan), arming it the second time I was able to do it with hands. Does this "cheap" traps lose power in spring by time (so that's why they awful) and could I fix it by winding it more? I'm not professional catcher and this is only for my backyard in which, I assume, have 2-3 moles.
Cheap traps are always a false economy. Plus, as you’re finding out yourself, they are usually cruel as they don’t have to power to do the job intended and therefore causing unnecessary suffering. Always get a good trap, no matter what the quarry! (We only sell what we use ourselves)
@@PestInterceptors That's not what I asked. Anyway, a bit of suffering is nothing I had to experience throughout this few years. "False economy" in this case works great for me. For 3 bucks a piece + 6 bucks delivery, the job is done in a same way. And (for me) no need for a "new hole" where trap will be set. Just place it where molehill already exist (after cleaning it) which (in most cases) also has two ways (tunnels) access to it.
@@PestInterceptors I've caught several moles alive using the harpoon trap. They were between the spikes which missed them. Doesn't happen very often but I've had it happen several times.
The trick is to try to catch the newly born moles as soon as you can. If you catch them before they clear the old tunnel systems out over time the tunnels will collapse and the scent trails will disappear. So catch them fast in the spring!
Or perhaps you could be terrible at catching moles! There’s a saying in England, “A bad workman always blames his tools.” Like, erm, watch the video, did we catch moles 🤷♂️🤗🤣🤣🤣 Then you could look at the comments below from people who can catch moles ✅🤡
@@PestInterceptors Well, that's a real cute saying but it doesn't hold water. You're not gonna get a high quality crown molding job with a handsaw and a claw hammer. True craftsmen depend on high quality tools to get a high quality job. I have several thousand dollars worth of tools for basic carpentry. I shouldn't have to be good at catching moles. That's what I bought the trap for. The TRAP is supposed to be good at catching moles. I set it exactly as the instructions said and after about 20 attempts and no moles that tool found it's way to the dumpster. I looked at the top comment below and the guy finally caught ONE MOLE. ONE MOLE. And the second commenter hasn't caught a mole yet. That's enough for me.

Mixed reviews for me. I caught a gopher the 1st day I tried it.
Have another gopher & set 7 traps & nada.
We don’t have gophers in the UK, so I can’t tell you much to be honest!
From trapping lots of different species of pest though there are some things you could try.
I would remove the traps completely for a week or two.
If it were moles I’d kick over all the new mole hills when I did this (that way when you come back the new hills tell you where they are most active).
I’d also try a different trap as they may have gotten wise to the ones you used before.
Why put them back in the hole, is there a reason?
Saves taking a bag of them home and some say that they are so territorial that the body keeps other moles away for a while.

what happens if the mole shows up while you are digging and setting the trap will they hurt you
The mole is usually far away as soon as you walk on the grass.
I’ve not seen a live mole in 15 years….so you’d be pretty unlucky!

There is a pasture above my property and across the road that is mole ridden. They come under the road into my yard every fricken spring. 🤬

Not a fan of scissor traps.....tunnel traps are safer and more effective.

I’ve used this style of trap and had no problem catching moles ..usually within a couple of days of setting it 🤔
