    One piece of advice I cannot stress enough: If things go very wrong, do not mine, do not tower. Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. The Warden is prioritizes making vertical attacks. If you are more than 15 blocks away horizontally, it cannot hurt you.

    Pro Tip: bring a bed, Ender Pearls of course and also a set of secondary armor, even iron armor will do, as long as the boots have feather falling. Place the bed, tap on the bed so you respawn there after you die. Place a chest next to the bed and put all your valuable items in there, like primary armor, elytra and everything you really do not want to lose. You don't need armor in an ancient city, because there are seldomly mobs to be found there and those should be easy to take out with a lesser set of armor and any cheap sword.
    This way, if you get killed by the warden and should not be able to make it back in time, you will not cry like a baby over your stuff. Also the bed will help to respawn you in the area again, so you can continue ransacking the city.
    Use silk touch enchantment, if you want to keep the sensors and shriekers to build a base alarm later or something. No worries, shriekers placed down arbitrarily by players do not summon the warden anymore.

    I have been raiding ancient cities for over 3 weeks now. The key is to take out the shulk sensors (cuz shreakers take a bit longer to mine and also in key points are three or more) even while the warden is still spawning, so the site is neutralized for the next visit. Then use an ender pearl to throw in a direction that you have put your mind on beforehand, wait for the bastard to despawn and then just enderpearl back. That way back is recommended, because when you land properly, you don't even set off any sensors, if there are still some. I successfully looted a dozen of ancient cities by now and only fell victim to the Warden once in the beginning.

    here's my take: there were 4 races in the world; humans, villagers, illagers, and piglins. they each ruled some huge cities. some horrible calamity occured with a massive outbreak of zombies. it devastated the humans, piglins, and villagers. i think the illagers from living underground (hence why their skin is grey) found a way to avoid infection and built the wardens for self defense. they kept the city clear of the dead and any other hostiles. something went horribly wrong and created the sculk. it spread and corrupted the wardens so the illagers fled to the surface to live in outposts and mansions.

Villagers are kind of the humans of Minecraft. Illagers are either their distant cousins by race or just straight up corrupted villagers who turned evil, for whatever reason. Piglins might be just the original inhabitants of hell (Nether), or maybe that's just what evil creatures turn into when they die and end up in the Nether...

Every single Ancient City I was in that had a fridge, had one note block exposed (which makes a sound when the pressure plate is triggered) and one that is covered by a sculk vein (whixh doesn't make a sound). I think it's there, besides a trap for the ones not careful enough, so it can teach us that sculk veins disable redstone currents/redstone powered blocks.
      Which I have a sneaking suspicion is why the sculk sensors in the central structure are water logged - As I've never seen a water-logged vein, and this could be Mojangs way of making sure those sensors are guaranteed to perform their due redstone duties.

      It's usually super easy to dig down and have the city have a direct entrance to the ancient city (sometimes caves make it almost impossible but you do what you do) in your town, as I don't like setting a bed soo low, and I always get sheep and legit breed them for 2 hours and gather wool + breed during this time, usually the cities have 2+ ancient cities near them so the first one I only have enough to do about half, go back and I can breed and gather wool again and finish it and when I go back for the third time, the sheep farm is huge.
      There are soo many fucking sheep in some towns lol, the one city had a 45x45 area that was like 4 tiles down but still grew grass, and had soo many sheep that I couldn't even gather wool properly, they pushed me around, so I released half of them and it was legit like 400 sheep that took off, and I closed it off with a little less than half still in there, and it was still a pain to navigate.

      1+ village.
      The village becomes a sheep breeding area for 30 minutes while I lure/breed as many as I humanly can and harvest their precious wool, then I dig tunnels to the deep dark, some tunnels are harder to work with when theirs a giant f*cking cavern, but when you can just simply mine directly down to it, its super easy.
      I generally also gave up on wool and decided because I have soo many swift sneak 3 leggings, I just use ender pearls, sneak 3 leggings, and know where I am, and where I will pearl to when he spawns, I press Control + B (hitboxes) and watch his dumb butt from like 30 blocks away, I like to try to enderpearl towards the middle laneways with the grey wool on them, as they are usually 15-25 blocks away from any of the chests generally.
      I religiously use night vision potions, its a completely different experience. I also bring an ender chest and fill it from my base with blaze rods, golden carrots, fireworks, etc various crap.
      I don't use any gear ONCE I'm actually set with direct passage to the Ancient city EXCEPT swift sneak leggings, which are ridiculously better, its almost necessary to have swift sneak 3 in order to do this because its far quicker over the long run.
      Also take a little time to watch a video on ancient cities, and their setups/various rooms, there is a bathhouse that can have 2 or 3 chests sometimes, etc, and realize the warden is simply a nothing burger, he's meant to be ignored and avoided simply.

The skulk was a species in the other dimension that went back through the portal and eventually whatever was powering the portal ran out of power and the portal closed hence no other species taking over the overworld. Maybe in 1.20 they will add a way to power the portal again.

    Tip: If you want smooth looting and avoid a Warden encounter, ALWAYS remove the Shierkers, as they are responsible for waking the Warden (It's helping me and my friends a lot to loot the ancient cities).
    Isolating them with Wool is a good thing to do, but I would recommend manually removing them anyway.
    And if you forget one, stay calm, it will only be activated after shouting twice more, and if the Warden spawns, leave the area with enderpearls or try not to get too close to him.
    And as a comment said around here, it's a great place for a base as long as you remove all the Shierkers.

    My strategy to pacify the ancient city/deep dark is just to get a swiftness potion and leg it through the ancient city breaking all the shriekers in an area, then tower up and shoot any wardens or wait for them to dig back down into the ground. You can then just raid the loot, break the sensors if you want them because there shouldn’t be anymore shriekers so it should be safe as long as you don’t run into one as soon as it spawns when you’re running through it initially.

  • @TheTretex
    @TheTretex Před rokem +3

    Wardens are actually pretty easy to avoid once they spawn in provided you aren't stuck in an enclosed space. They don't spawn immediately when a shrieker is activated (unless you break it,) and also during it's spawn in animation it can't aggro onto you. I found that even destroying a shrieker while it's going off still gives you ample time to get out of range with his spawn animation, no elytra needed.
    Also because no enemies spawn in ancient cities as opposed to a regular deep dark biome, he's alot quicker to despawn since he doesn't get distracted by sound made by hostile mobs. Ironically the warden is the less dangerous because of that fact since you can spend as little time as possible with him patrolling the area.

    • @evilsharkey8954
      @evilsharkey8954 Před rokem +2

      Just make sure you haven’t triggered a shrieker in more than 10 minutes, get down the trapdoor as fast as possible, and destroy the shrieker before it can recharge and shriek again (about 10 seconds).
      It really sucks when there’s two shriekers. Then you have to destroy the trapdoor on one shriek, destroy one shrieker, and then locate the second shrieker. To avoid spawning wardens, you have to do something else for 10 minutes after each shriek so you have some leeway in case you accidentally trigger two shrieks close together.

    There is obviously some lore going on with these cities. I wanna say it’s a portal, activating portal will start boss fight, where you end up fighting with the warden against creature from portal. But the fact that every ancient city, like 100% of the time has this structure directly in the middle of city, it has to mean something. Only one music disc that sounds super sus, and the warden himself being trigger by sound like a self defense alarm system, and his name deprives from the meaning “guard” like it’s obvy. I’m starting to think there’s no other dimension now, it’s just a portal to spawn a boss fight. And you fight in the ancient city. With the warden.

    • @ryebread2862

    My theory as to why the Pillagers stored so much wool is probably because they made some sort of ritual to summon to warden to protect their loot, but they knew the warden was a dangerous individual even if you summoned it, it probably is hostile to everything it can perceive and the pillagers knew that but they also knew about wool being sound proof, so they gathered a ton of wool to manage to walk around their city without alerting their warden guardian and the enemies that didn't know about sound proof would perish by alerting the warden

    Important tip: if the warden appears, don't try to fight it, you will die so just try to get away

    One suggestion If you don't have any farm which associate mobs like iron farm , then simply go to settings and make your world to peaceful while looting the ancient city, as warden doesn't give that much good loot after being killed so killing him doesn't make any sense, just focus on looting the city and collecting new things.

    If you go in with several stacks of wool and a water fall to retreat up, you can loot a city with nothing but the wool and some food easily. I've raided two and summoned the warden several times without dying once
