The Bianchi Oltre Pro / RC aero road bikes of 2023 have created a lot of discussion amongst the cycling crowd due to it's very modern take on their Aero Road bike. It's packed with cutting-edge aero technology, including the new Air Deflector wings on the head tube. But how does it perform in the real world?
In this video, I take a closer look at the Oltre Pro and put it through its paces on a variety of roads. I'll talk about the bike's handling, comfort, and speed. I'll also share my thoughts on whether or not the Oltre Pro is worth the price or is it better to go for the RC.

Ordering mine with Dura-Ace in November. Turning 60. Happy Birthday to myself.:-)
Congrats and Happy Birthday in advance
Hey how did that work out for you so far? I put a deposit down on my RC 5 months ago and it’s finally coming in this week. I’ve still never seen one in real life. This video is the best one I’ve found by far. No one else really talks about ride feel like this. Lot of good tips and I’ve been dealing with that cockpit issue in terms of sizing. -10mm for me too.
You should already by now, how does it ride?
The easiest way to explain the RC after about 400 miles so far is that this isn’t really some crazy aero bike like I was personally led to believe from all the marketing hype. It’s a whole ‘nuther beast completely that climbs like nothing I’ve ever ridden, sprints like a demon, power transfer is instantaneous and it gets up to speed so quickly that you keep wondering if you just caught a tail wind, and it happens to be seriously aero. It’s comfortable too. Not at all a harsh ride. I’ve even taken it on gravel. The bars are weird to figure out at first but the second you ride them you are amazed at how comfortable you feel down low on the hoods. I put campy WRL on it (which is also incredible-don’t believe internet hype there) and the bike is very light at 7.1k 15.6lbs. I saw a few oltre Pros when I went to pick up my RC and yeah they are pretty but when you see them side by side you realize immediately that the top level RC is truly in its own level of special. I won’t lie, I spend a LOT of time just staring at this thing and that beautiful carbon weave. There is not clear coat or paint on there except the Bianchi graphics. This was my dream bike/forever bike and it has exceeded that expectation in every regard. If you can swing it, pony up for the RC and not the Pro. You will never regret it.
Excellent presentation. Too many CZcamsrs draw out the length of their videos when they can say as much in half the time. In this video, he speaks very quickly with no wasted words. And the bike looks sweet! Nice to hear some comparison with the other top tier bikes.
Thank you very much for your kind words. As this was my first road bike review I also wanted to “get to the point” vs draw out the length and repeat myself. Hope to do more in the future
In so many CZcams videos, I end up increasing the playback speed because people take so long to make their points and I get impatient! I didn't have to do that with yours.@@btonelli
Best review on the bike I've seen to date. Clear, concise and to the point. I picked up an Oltre Pro yesterday. All black. I added a few Celeste accents. I need to be fitted and a few other items that are in the mail. I've ridden an XR3 for the past 4 years and a Sempre Pro before that. I really can't wait to ride it.
Thank you for the kind words. Enjoy the bike!
Great review!!! Lucky I've seen this once in-person, such a beautiful bike
Thanks!! Yeah day before preview
Bianchi is awesome! Great to see a bike review on your channel, Bobby. Have been enjoying your photography reviews very much and several of my purchase decisions were based on your reviews. Stay well and please continue to create informative, honest and enjoyable content on your channel.
Indeed they are! Big fan :) thanks for following the photography reviews as well. Glad I could help :)

Great review and beautiful bike !
Thanks!
Thanks, great review. I currently own a Bianchi XR2 2013 Ultegra, today I've ordered the Oltre Pro Di2 Ultegra, I'm sure I'm gonna love it, 10 years is something you'll notice. Although it will be different to your special build.
Congrats!! Let me know what you think of it when it arrives. Thanks for watching
Please leave your review of your new bike! I also have a Bianchi xr2 (idk what year) and I love it but I’m planning on buying the oltre pro someday soon if I get the money 😅
@@eugenia2946 sure, I'm keen to see what the weight penalty will be like
I’m 63 and I gonna buy OLTRE XR3. Thanks so much for your video. It was useful.👍
Thanks for watching.
I have the RC. Exactly the same set up except mine’s on ultra wto 60. Agree with your observations. Doesn’t feel as fast as my much lighter dogma f but it’s faster according to my Garmin by 1kph average given the same power/distance. Amazing bike that doesn’t beat you up even after a fast paced century ride.
I wish I would have gone for the RC but oh well :)
WOW.. OLTRE is Italian for BEYOND. And this bike is wayyy beyond! I absolutely love love this bike!! I have to hold on as it is very light- fast and responsive.
Same I’m in love with it as well!
Goddamn it Bobby, I used to follow you when looking into camera equipment.
Now, I’m into bikes and here you are again 🤣🫣
Great bike and nice review….I hope I stop seeing this bike in my recommendations bc I’m starting to get into trouble.
Lol!! Thanks for watching. It’s a great bike and unique
Nice to see a mix bro. Doubt I can afford one but nice bike
Thanks! Will be mixing it up here and there
Hi Bobby, regarding fit I'm 177cm with a 81.5ish inseam. My LBS recommeded a size 55 but I'm a bit conflicted whether the 53 would be more suitable for me. Like to hear your thoughts?
I would opt for 53. He is probably thinking about aggressive fit hence a slightly larger frame but the bike isn’t that aggressive on the front
I have an oltre xr4 and I loved it. If you could compare it with the oltre pro what will be your comments?
Great bike! I would say this is slightly more aggressive on the geometry and the front feels lighter. More nimble feeling. The Oltre Pro has less flex than the xr4 as well especially when you really push it.
The photography to cycling cross over I didn’t know I needed. But hey, I’m on a base model gravel bike that I toss road tires on when needed. I’m sure I’d get dropped immediately ;)
I threw in a few X2D photos to keep it somewhat relevant haha. Gravel bikes are awesome!
Its 2024 and this has gotta be the sexiest road machine out there! I've just bought a Oltre Comp in Celeste with Shimano Ultegra Di2 e-shift blar blar blar and absolutely love it. Im gonna try it out tomorrow hopefully. For me it would be Campagnolo Super Record every day, but I only bought this bike to try out brake discs and electronic shift so Im very excited. I've opted for a 55cm because bar/stem and crank lengths are like my other 53cm Bianchi C2C. I'm only 172cm but with a 83cm inseam and surprisingly the fit is very good with less than 10mm added reach to the bars. I absolutely love the Campagnolo Super Record EPS, it is so much better looking than any Shimano, but I'm sure I'll be happy with the Ultegra as Shimano is very reliable
Sounds like you got an awesome setup. Congrats!
@@btonelli Thank you Sir👍🏻Bike was awesome today and the 55cm is perfect in every way
Before i will upgrate to such a light weight bike, i first have to loose my 'spare tire' 😅. Ps You can literally review anything!
Haha these spare tires hit us all :) Thanks for watching!
Bobby, thank you so much for this review! I am shopping for a woman's 5'7 height and am not sure for either 53 or 55. If you see this and have any thoughts please let me know!
My pleasure. I’m thinking 53 since I’m riding 55 and I’m a little over 6 feet
@@btonelli oh interesting. I wonder if I should consider size 50 but I do not know the heights for that in Bianchi measurement :(
@@user-ik7eq3ku9g can check out their website. They have a geometry table and also a size chart
How did you mount the light to this bike? Does the bianchi mount take GoPro mount at the bottom? How is the quality of the mount over all?
You can put a GoPro mount underneath.
In terms of the quality of the mount. The first batch were made out of some composite plastic. However Bianchi has updated them to be made out of metal to be more durable
It’ s originally Bianchi or aftermarket?
@@URYboy it’s part of the design of the mount
Personally I would choose the Countervail Pro version over the RC version but given your regret over that choice do you still have this bike and enjoy riding it? Your comments @5:20 about the lightness of the front end imply that the bike can squirm in a full out of the saddle sprint - have you got used to that and how many watts are you laying down to induce that effect?
How does this bike climb? I ride the Noah Fast now and its horrible on the steep climbs 😔. I doubt between the new Specialissima and the Oltre RC….thnx.
I tried the new Specialissima. Great climbing bike. For steep climbs go with that
I’m curious how this may compare with the specialissima RC
I tried that bike. The Specialissima is a much lighter bike. Great power transfer but you will get some road feedback. It’s not uncomfortable but it’s definitely more responsive to uneven roads. As far as geometry size 55 the same as my Oltre felt great
I wonder if your configuration of the bike is cheaper than an X2D with 2 lenses! Great video! Wise words for all, before you buy ANY bike, a fitment is essential to getting what is right for you!
Thank you! I think the price is close if you go for RC but Pro then the X2D system would be slightly more. By the way this thumbnail pic was taken with the X2D.
@@btonelliI really liked that thumbnail pic!!! I’ve been with you for several years, I’m really saddened & surprised that you don’t have a larger subscription base. I’m glad you still make content for us. I also wanted to say that white tiger jumping out of the water to eat was you did a few weeks back was an awe-inspiring pic! I have been beating my head trying to figure out how you did it with out a flash ! Got the background so dark! Love your work!
Ps, wasn’t your first vid a bike build? One that you showed a pic of in this video !!! Full circle!
Trying to grow the subscribers but will take time. It’s part of the journey:)
That look was done in Lightroom with masking. So I darken the background then work on the subject to make the image pop
@@btonelli you are talented Bobby, thanks for all you do!
@@darkroom8317 thank you 🙏
Hey Bobby,
Just wondering how tall you are and what frame size this is. Bianchi sizing is different from Trek & Cervelo… thx
Sure. I’m 1.83 meters or 6ft and this is a size 55
Sorry, you did mention size 55. Just wondering how tall you are as they seem to fit longer than what the sizing might suggest. I’m 188cm and was thinking that my size should be 59…
@@user-sp5rg9to4n I’m 183cm to give you an idea. I have a shorter torso and longer legs. This is why my fitter recommended the 100 / 420 stem and bar setup but I can ride the 110/420 ok.
Gotcha. Looks like I’m between 57 and 59. Would have to decide which way to go lol
Bike looks amazing though. Thank you for the video. There are no other real reviews for this bike in English.
dream bike with dream groupset
Thank you. Yes it’s a beauty
Ich möchte mir auch ein Bianchi Oltre kaufen. Haben das RC und das Pro den gleichen Rahmen ?
Yes they have the same frame design but the carbon is better on the RC and the RC is slightly lighter.
wonderful
Thanks 🙏
I need 1 ❤
Beautiful bike
Bianchi will be allways....Bianchi 👏🏼
Mine Bianchi Reparto Corso 928 it's amazing in every aspects 👊🏼
Beautiful bike. My next bike I want to get is either vintage Colnago or Bianchi X4
@@btonelli nice choice too
❤❤
🙏🙏
What is the best size for me?, im 5’6”.
I don’t have all the sizing but I’m 6f and I’m a 55
Good you are 6ft on a 55 which means I can hop on the Size 59 cm at 6ft 4 inches.
Funds for a new car or new bicycle. Hmmm
Decisions decisions:)
I have seen shops start offering substantial discounts on these bikes now. Economy and demand for cycling isn’t what it was a couple years ago
PESO?
It’s in the video.
8,3kg???
Yes fully built up with pedals and lights etc
I would’ve liked the design more if it was not Bianchi. It definitely looks different and fast, but I don’t see the elegance of Bianchi here.
(Just my opinion!)
Understand. It’s a big departure from what we are used to from Bianchi but the performance is there
Every company copies the next new hype. Nice bike but its the italian version of the trek madone. Do away with the disc's
Disc brakes are here to stay. Yes it does have a bit of the Masons vibe but it’s also unique especially when you see it in person
But its damn ugly…. 😂
Haha respectfully disagree but everyone has their preference
The bike has a Stealth Fighter-Batman look to it.
@@deanparadise1 indeed!
Ugly? No way! Its a work of art!
That's one ugly asssss bike, Bianchi old frames looks and performed way better
Ok if I had the opportunity to get an X4 Argentin I may swap this for that hahaha outside of that I think this bike does look really good and rides well
Problem I think is you are stuck in the 'old world' This is one of Bianchi's finest in a modern world of Carbon
