We all probably know that John Banner was the heart and soul of this entire series, but every time Hogan and Clink were in a scene together, it was pure magic. The absolute writing and acting talent on display is nothing short of incredible.

I remember reading a comment a few weeks back on one of the many Hogan's Heroes videos on CZcams here, and someone had come up with a sort of theoretical ending to the show, and it went somewhat like this:
The war ends, the camp is liberated, the gang goes back home to their own lives. Colonel Hogan returns home to a hero's welcome and is promoted to General. Through his own connections and pulling some strings, Hogan is able to save Klink and Schultz from being imprisoned and tried for any war crimes. A few years later, Hogan receives a package at his doorstep, addressed to him from his old camp Kommandant, Colonel Wilhelm Klink. Inside is a book written by Klink (they came up with a title for it, but I forget what it was), and it talks about how he claims that he knew all about the tunnels and Hogan and his men's connections with the Underground, and that he admired Hogan for what he did. He knew all along what was going on but didn't want to say anything about it. Nor did he believe in the German cause in the war anymore (as could be evident by his barely half-hearted "oh yes, yes, Heil Hitler" throughout the show).
It's not 100% correct based on what I saw, but it's what I could remember. I think this would've been a great ending, bringing closure to a wonderful show that ran for 6 seasons.

I’m not sure if Robert Clary (Lebeau) was Jewish or not, but he was in a concentration camp during WWII, not sure of the dates, but he was in Dachau which is in southern Germany near Munich. I’ve been to Dachau. I cried all the way through it.

Werner Klemperer left Germany in 1935. WWII startet in September 1939. John Banner was Austrian. After working at a theatre in Switzerland until 1938 he fled 1938 in the USA. Leon Askin was Austrian too. He went 1933 to Paris/France. 1935 he went back to Vienna and in March 1938 back to Paris. When the war startet in September 1939, the French put Askin into a frech Camp as a hostile foreigner. After 6 months he was released and went to the USA. So all 3 of them were not in Germany during WWII.

Every episode is set in winter time... which made episode continuity - shows could be watched in no particular order... there never was a 2 part episode... only an occasional real German word was used... speaking with a "German accent" implied that the non German actor was speaking in German... all the shows main Germans (Klink, Schultz, Burkhalter, Hochstetter) were Jewish... (Robert Clary who played LaBeau was also Jewish...).

To bad we’ll never know how killed Hogan. (Bob Crane) I reckon it was his wife, or his friend. More then likely I think it was the friend. They did find some of Cranes blood in his care. Not conclusive, but kinda coincidental nonetheless. Then again when you do stuff you shouldn’t be doing ya take a chance. (Sleeping with married women, filming your loving sessions without consent, and other shady things) doesn’t make it right, but you roll the dice and takes ya chances, and sometimes it comes up bust.
