The original Star Sabre was translucent, because of the light in the fist of combined Armada Optimus. There was a reissue of it, Dark Sabre, the Decepticon version, which was solid panels.
I like that fans hobby has done some mini-cons, but the mini-cons I wish for them to do the most is Grinder, Sureshock, and High Wire that combine into Armada Perceptor. Those tree mini-cons were my favorite in the Armada series.
I never thought in my life that 3rd party companies would make Mini-Con figures. Oh, Lord, I still have some Cybertron Mini-Cons, this takes me back a LOT. I was only 6 then.
I hope the release a version of this without the clear plastic because I am deathly afraid of clear plastic and the solid plastic would make it more “show accurate”.
Personally I'd like to see someone make some effect parts to replicate how it'd glow like a lightsaber in the show. Not sure how they'd do it but it'd be nice to have.

Obviously a solid color version (preferable to the clear version here), potentially an “energized” version made with some sort of bright blue to emulate the lightsaber look from the show. I don’t need it, but I need it. Preferably in solid, it’d be very sad to have another crumbling Star Saber team.
A whole almost 2 months. Still good. They're made with a non brittle plastic. A bit flexible. You'd have to try to bend then snap. But it may just warp.
I've also never had issues with the clear plastic parts, but, I also noticed that some reviewers, not naming names, but some, are really "heavy handed," when transforming figures. I'm always gentle and deliberate with my figures. After all, these things aren't exactly cheap. 😂😂
Knowing Fans Hobby, they'll most likely make a more anime accurate version that replaces the clear plastic with opaque plastic (which is what the Kabaya gum versions did so you had an Air Defense Team that didn't shatter in your hands). Once they do that, then I'll get one
Glad I wasn't the only one to have that issue. They just did not ever want to combine properly and always popped apart as soon as possible. At least this one looks like you can actually have a proper battle with it.
And who can see these guys combining into the Star Saber after Hot Shot holds Sonar and yells: "STAR SABER!" And when I get those guys, I'm gonna have their transformation be exactly like the one from the show.
Even if I can look past the clear plastic potentially breaking easily, I just think it makes them look kinda bad honestly. The molds are great, but just being made of clear plastic doesn't look great.
I have the original ones. And, Yes they are mostly clear plastic. I know that they tend to fall apart when they’re in combine mode if you accidentally touch them. However, they do tend to stay in place when there’s no movement, but if you wanna play with them not so much.
Waiting on dark saber to give my fans hobby shattered commander. Still have the original dark saber and gave it a 3D printed handle and the color match is chefs kiss
Hopefully we get a Skyboom Shield and Requiem Blaster from Fans Hobby in the future, and an Armada Preceptor, plus recolors. Hope to see an Energon Saber retool to.

I have the Star Saber from Armada and Dark Saber. I need to get me this team. Maybe FH will do the other 2 weapons teams. I know Primus isn't Armada, but it's fun to display him with the 3 minicon teams posted onto him.
The clear plastic used on the three seems to be the textured ones which to me is sturdier than directly clear ones. Hoping though, they might release a powered version of this set but will likely be just two robots forming the blade both in full blue color and likely provide an effect part which is a clear blue blade effect. As to why still having the two robots in full blue color, there were instances on the show that the energized sword silhouette are the basic combined form of the blade. But most of its scenes is the energized blade used in combat. Or the other scenario is an upgrade kit with a different main Robot given the effect parts for the sword or just the effect parts on its own.
The originals did indeed have all this clear plastic, the original Armada Prime had an LED in his fist that was supposed make the Star Saber light up. It was not super successful at this.
I want to see all of them! 😂 I loved those Mini-Cons so much, even though I was already in the Cybertron era when I got them. I still have mine to this day, and Ramjet (Sonar, but redecoed) lost his foot exactly because the ball joint was too damn loose.
I still have the original Armada Star Saber set with its lovely transclearent plastic. Let's just say there's a few more pieces to it now and one of them has become a partsformer.

Fortunately it's not the brittle junk like hasbro and takara did for all their clear releases. The wings are a different material. Somewhat flexible. Wouldn't snap or bend easily.
So I own the original and the fan hobby it is based off of the US version of the star saber. I also have the dark saber and the set version of the solid colors. I hope they make the solid color version. I may get it, but I may be content with the originals that I have for size for my figures but I’m getting there other mincon teams what I would recommend is get the third-party for your commander class size figures and get the original for your other figures or 3-D print the sword for your deluxe all depends on your preference but I find it funny with hotshot holding a giant sword like monster hunter

I honestly kinda want these guys because my old original Star Saber team are... beat up to hell and back by this point, since I had them as a kid And yes, the original Star Saber team had this much clear plastic as well, they're pretty much 1-1 even with Sonar's clear thighs
Surprised you didn't compare them to Storm Cloud and Visper, the Siege Air Strike Patrol, which were the closest we've gotten to a Star Saber / Dark Saber in recent years.
in my personal transformers fanfiction, the transformers don't size change they're just always as big as their alt mode, but then can I not have minicons? Their whole thing is being miniature...
I don't really mind clear plastic, but I'm still confused as to why they decided to use completely clear plastic. It doesn't particularly look that nice, and if they used a pigment of sorts, it'd look more accurate and strengthen the plastic a little.
I see a lot of displeasure for the clear plastic, so let me ask. What style/color would you guys prefer for this original version of the team? I'm sure we'll get the purple Dark Saber sooner or later, but as for this team I was thinking go full white but feel that'd blend with the silver to much while blue would only look good for the sword mode but not Shuttle or robots.
