A quick note: I'll only include records from bands that I like or liked in some point of my life. So perhaps it would be more fitting this list would be called "Top 10 letdowns of the last decade". That being said here it is:
    10) Megadeth - Super Collider: Don't get me wrong... Megadeth is one of my favorite bands in their genre. And perhaps that's why I'm being a bit harsh on an album that the only song that excited me a bit was way to similar to a well known Sabbath tune. Of course there's way worst music out there but SC was pretty lame regarding Megadeth's (normally pretty high) standard quality.
    09) Rammstein - Rammstein: First of all this isn't a bad record per se. The problem resides in fact of me being a die hard Rammstein fan back before Sehensucht even came out. During their first 2 albums Rammstein's appeal as far as I'm concerned resided in the mix of their synthetic guitar tone (very similar to Clawfinger), Laibach like vocals, Synth Pop keys and mechanized sound. Well, with the exception of the vocal style, the band started to lose all of these traits in Mutter and Reise Reise (decent albums but far from their early two efforts) and by the time Rosenrot came out it was a shell of its formel self. Worst... they had become a corny self parody and I must admit the following album was equally bad. So when their 2019 self titled release was dubbed a huge comeback what I was given was something slightly better than their last two albums (rendering it acceptable), but falling short to Mutter and Reise Reise and being light years appart from what I consider to be proper "Rammstein".
    08) In Flames - Everything the band released during this decade: Beforehand let me say that I love Reroute To Remain and Soundtrack (they're respectively my 2nd and 3rd favorite albums) as well as I pretty much dig Come Clarity and A Sense Of Porpuse. So I'm not a Swedish Death Metal elitist when it comes to In Flames. But, appart from Jesper's departure, I don't know what happened on the turning of the previous decade that triggered a spree of awfuy dull, juvenile and uninspired records that lasted ever since in this guy's catalogue. During this time I believe I've only enjoyed a handful of In Flamessongs. What a waste. The worst record between this bunch of lacklusters? Perhaps Siren Charms... although any other would be absolutely fitting.
    07) Ministry - From Beer To Eternity: back when he was releasing the last chapter of the so called "Bush trilogy" (The Last Sucker) Al Jougensen stated it would be Ministry's last album. Too bad that wasn't true... because some years after Relapse was released, a pale and uninspired copy of their post Paul Barker efforts yet still featuring a couple of strong energetic tunes. The same can't be said about the following FBTE. Yes... it is still a rerun on the "Bush trilogy" formula. Yes it is completely devoid of porpuse and repetitive as hell... and no: it does not feature a single stand out moment. I can understant the "return" with Amerikkkant. To begin with the band revisited some sludgy noisescapes they haven't dwelled in since the 90's, varying the band's sound approach for the first time since Barker left . Then one must agree Donald Trump is a delightful theme to write about (either you love him or hate him). But that was not the case of FBTE... a complete and unjustifiable nullity.
    06) Danzig - Everything the band released after Deth Red Sabaoth: Long are the golden days of Danzig 1 to 4. Hell... even long gone are the daring but quite enjoyable experiments of Black Aria, Blackaciddevil and Satan's Child. With the turn of the millenia all Glen had to offer us were awful records displaying a quickly eroding vocal condition. Then Deth Red Sabaoth came out to be a quite enjoyable and energetical sort of reminder of what that project was in the 90's and it seemed that the former Misfit had recovered his mojo. So what did we got in the last decade? Besides Danzig's voice getting even worst with time we were kindly presented with a compilation of awful covers and a new album that seems to be a weak B side compilation. If I had to pick the worst record between both it would be Skeletons because it fails on delivering a decent approach of any kind of what was supposed to be a tribute (at least on Black Ladden Crown Glen put the effort to compose something!). As a curiosity note Tommy Victor was involved in both Danzig and Ministry weak late efforts. Hey i'm not implying something.... just stating a fact.
    05) Geoff Tate - Everything his bands released during this decade (and to a lesser degree what the other Queensryche did also): I must admit that after Q2K everything Queensryche did sounded completely devoid of interest (with perhaps the exception of a handful of passages on American Soldier). So, unlike CKN, Dedicated To Chaos, Frequency Unknown and Operation Mindcrime albums had almost the same effect on me since i believe they all suffer from the same problem: lack of musical focus. I believe Tate wants so much to reinvent the wheel and all over the place without risking too much that all he composes is feeble and hollow. The problem it's not what he writes offends my eardrums. It's the complete opposite. There's a concerning void of impact and minimal commotion when confronted with his later material. Regarding the "new" Queensryche my lack of interest is the same nevertheless due to different causes. Despite excellent performances by excellent musicians, the band is trying to match what they've done in a stellar way back in their golden period and we all know what happens in the vast majority of these situations don't we?
    04) Six Feet Under - Everything the band has done during this decade: To be fair everything Barnes and the boys have done after Maximum Violence is mediocre at best. I think CKN already said everything about how SFU became Barnes' 3rd occupation after Smoking and Fishing. With that diminute time and effort in Barnes' schedule, crafting decent Death Metal becomes a hard task. Nevertheless I must stress my particular shock regarding 666 Numbers Of The Priest. SFU is well known for butchering some great tunes but this time they went too far! The blasphemy commited towards Priest and Maiden's sacred tunes is beyond grotesque. One can only pray that in the future Barnes shortens his activities stricktly to weed and fishes.
.... and we're left with the podium. That alone deserves an isolated post such are the abominations I must describe.

First of all i have to say thanks to CKN for introducing me to some really nice bands, i'll miss this content however what i'm not going to miss are these albums:
BFMV - Gravity (i'm still recovering from this, after temper temper which was horrible in his own right venom gave me hope that i can still find quality in this band but then gravity came out and everything fell apart, get it?)
Therion - Beloved Antichrist (interesting concept, as the writer attempt that i am i can apreciate the ambition but this works more on paper than it does on the ears, seriously 40 songs and i found myself enjoying about 3 at the time but now looking back... well the music video of beloved antichrist speaks for itself)
Motionless in White - Disguise (Seriously, they need to grow up, when this one came out i did a retrospective on their works, since 2010 their lyrics have not improved, the apeal of this band has always been the industrial and gothic stetic and if you are a teenager you might like it but godamn those lyrics are bad, they have the potential, i mean the lead still has his voice working and the guys can obviously play but they are nor adding anything not even a decent riff, if that wasn't enough this year we had probably the best works from both FIR and NYD showing that indeed you can make this style work bringing modern music to the table, yeah it's a guilty pleasure but all of us have one and motionless just makes me feel guilty, in fact i'm gonna take a shower right now. Plus what a way to waste an artist i am familiar with the guy who draw the cover and he has much better works the potential wasted here already is shown in the cover)
Dimmu Borgir - Eonian (good opening tack if it wasn't a copy of Sing from the ps2 berserk soundtrack, then you have lightbringer, seems like a banger until you remember one step closer by linkin park, then you have the single council of the wolves, it has interesting sounds however i couldn't help but notice how similar it was to Cirice by Ghost, and those are just a few i got the who knows how many more "similarities" to other songs are here to cover the lack of energy, this album feels boring but the slower style is not the problem, just look at Nightwish and Behemoth, the issue here is that they seem uninspired, there's doom metal that sounds like it has more energy than this, if you hear the first track you are done, plus is the heaviest)
Asking Alexandria - From Death to Destiny (talk about an identity crisis, i'd save about 3 tracks but the album as a hole gets killed by the first track if you know the context, in regards to the sound feels like bryan adams meets metalcore and you can tell the band tries to make it work but at the end of the day the need of another vocalist was evident if they wanted to keep their sound, the rest is history, after all i'd say i learned a lot from this failure compared to the other albums on my list)
I'm sure the albums listed by CKN are way worse, if they don't make my list is because i'm not going to hear them, plus when we talk about metal or rock and the subgeneres around them (aside from gravity, no one can save that garbage) there's always some kind of hope 🤷🏻‍♂️ but when we talk about modern pop... we can have a way bigger list

@@bruhmomentseverywhere Reading my comment now makes me realize how much of a pissed off snob i was three years ago 🤦🏻 nowadays i can say that there's really nothing fundamentally wrong with Disguise, i haven't heard it again but i remember it was well mixed unlike the first version of infamous for example, also i think the album doesn't drag which makes it an easy listen. At the time i felt like unbreakable by NYD and walking with strangers by TBM were underrated and way better so in my mind a "big" band like Motionless had to "set an example of quality" with their projects 🤦🏻 clearly that's a wrong mindset, they can do whatever they want. Their songs just didn't resonate with me anymore, Disguise didn't make that any better so i thought there was something objectively wrong with them but nah it was just me, my entire argument basically was "it's not for me" and that obviously doesn't make an album bad, there was nothing offensive either so i don't think it belongs on that list, seems unfair. The other ones are not crimes but i still feel like they were poorly realized when we consider their respective catalogs and their resources but a couple of months ago i heard some stuff that i didn't know existed when i wrote the list and not only makes me regret calling MIW cringe but it also makes me reconsider some of my choices

Agreed. My personal nickname for Fear Inoculum is "Bridges To Nowhere". The bridges of the songs literally drone on and on and eventually drop you off in the middle of nothingness, leave you hanging for a while, then loop back around to where they started and continue to drone on... until, the song EVENTUALLY ends, and I'm left confused, wondering, "what was even the point of that song?" This experience repeats throughout the whole album, and every song sounds the same.
And, NOT EVEN ONCE does Maynard share anything truly emotional or personal, he NOT ONCE belts out any of his signature explosive stanzas. He just croons throughout the entirety of the record. He barely put any effort into it, as if he was afraid, disinterested, or maybe even lost his ability to sing powerfully. Overall, it's really pathetic for an album that was 13 years in the making.

While they're out being successful, your favorite unknown extreme metal outfit that you like because you know about them and nobody else does is playing the local club to 100 people at best and making zero money. Could Ivan's lyrics use work? Yes...oh, my word, yes. Sometimes, I'd like to challenge the dude to write something without any expletives in it. But as far as the music itself is concerned, it's fun and catchy and MEMORABLE. Unlike your favorite unknown extreme metal band which plays something and then you immediately forget about it.
