Keep it simple. There is no need to complicate portfolio construction.
1)what to buy?
Buy companies with good management, great competitive advantage and decent growth potential, below their fair value.
2) How much to buy?
Have a general rule to limit an individual company in your portfolio like not more than 10%-20% but Load up the truck when you have very high conviction and high down side protection in valuation (high margin of safety). No need to limit when such rare opportunities presents itself.
3) Have general rules to sell.
Sell when overvalued (and/or)
Another more attractive opportunity available (or)
Need to liquidate for other needs
Give time for your portfolio to compound and dont disturb it. Its as simple as that.
It's not easy to get these experiences. Thank you very much for sharing your experience to public . It adds lot of value to my investing

சார் என்னிடம் 10 லட்சம் போர்ட்ஃபோலியோ இருந்தது 10 பங்குகள் வைத்து இருந்தேன், கடந்த மூன்று மாதங்களில் மொத்தம் 3 பங்குகளாக குறைத்து விட்டேன், இப்போது 14 லட்சம் மூன்றே பங்குகள், பங்கு ஒன்று,PE 14, பங்கு இரண்டு, PE 18, பங்கு மூன்று PE 25, இந்த அளவில் உள்ளது, இதில் ஒரு பார்மா பங்கு 70 சதவீதம் PE 14, ஒரு பார்மா பங்கு 25 PE, ஒரு தனியார் வங்கி 18 PE, இப்படி தான் உள்ளது எனது போர்ட்ஃபோலியோ இப்போது, பயமாக தான் இருக்கு, ஆனாலும் வைத்துள்ளேன்😊

One information missing sir, how many numbers of stock should have the portfolio.
I have 25 stocks. Now increased to 30.
If your minimum investment in one stock is 2% and maximum 5%,then number of stocks can be in the range of 20 to 50.
