So Robot in the Family is (at the time of writing this) on CZcams, for free. I went and watched it because of this review.
The film actually has a pretty straight-forward plot structure.
What makes it feel like an utter decent into madness is a combination of three things:
    1) About half of the film consists of non sequitur 'comedic' scenes that don't really have anything to do with anything - at one point Golddigger goes on a rampage through downtown and causes like 20 minutes' worth of random mayhem that never really leads anywhere or has any consequence.
    2) Instead of dialogue, the film went for a more ''''realistic'''' approach where everyone is constantly trying to shout over everyone else. In scenes with two characters there's maybe a 50/50 chance of getting something that feels like it came from a normal movie, but at any point where more than two characters are in the scene it becomes downright anxiety-inducing. I'm not kidding, something about the editing makes it genuinely distressing to experience.
    3) This isn't just a failed comedy, this is a failed *childrens'* comedy. And it fails so hard that sometimes it's not even obvious that what was shown was supposed to be a joke. This results in things frequently becoming surreal. It's a bit like watching the first Spy Kids dubbed in a language you don't understand. Cast doctor actually has a fair bit of plot relevance but the entire scene in his office feels like a fever dream.

Perhaps it's the honest effort from the other actors, the dramatic reaction/repeat from the other actor "Kinkade got away!?" who is trying his best. Or maybe the context is even funnier, how he just states this with a certainity with no indicator to how he knows, like he's reading off the script for the film. Just amazing.
