I've done this with my children graduated one and graduating another this year. I fully believe in Narration and writing voice before formula. I don't teach formula like essay writing and typed until high school. Loved this and so glad you shared this with all your followers.

Thank you so much to you both for putting this collaboration together. I have been struggling since day one with writing. And boy is my 4th grader reluctant to write. Thank you

This has been so helpful, Thank you! I love SCM and plan on using it when my little one gets to that level. This video has been the most straightforward, uncomplicated way to teaching writing I have seen on here. Definitely will look into redefining school for my older kiddo!

So accurate ! we were still sinking this morning with my 7 yo son. "gentle" writing ... here in France it is really more and more complicated, the expectations of the state are very high, there is a huge difference with the CM's method (everything is hardened to prohibit homeschooling). but well... at least we try ! thanks for the tips!

Same being in Quebec. Homeschooling is just a different vibe. Second year officially homeschooling and I realized how much the work we do is oriented to proving we learned something. Which often looks like writing something to prove what they learned.

Know and Tell arrived today! I am so excited to dive into it. Narration is something I know little about, but I really want to incorporate into our homeschool days. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just stumbled upon your channel. I’ve been very interested in the Charlotte Mason method, but I’ve been panicky about my kids learning how to write! This was helpful and gave me confidence in what we’re doing!

While I come at writing using different curriculum, I use mostly reading to help with my children’s writing. It’s beautiful. I didn’t even realize I was doing writing gently. I tried to explain the 5 paragraph essay last year and it flopped. So we are waiting until the kids are ready.

I am finding no information about Redefining School's Writing courses. The website is vague. Can you share what the writing courses look like and how often a week, how much time involved, etc. ?!! pretty please!

Hi! What is it that you are looking for specifically? There are sample MS Lit lessons on her website, and under the writing course tab it states that the courses are 8 weeks long with one module per week, and two opportunities for written feedback. Truly, though, the writing courses can be completed on your own timeline, but 8 weeks is suggested. I’d recommend you reach out to her with any questions or for additional information.

@@RootedinRest Thank you. Unable to reach her so I thought I would ask you! It's hard to spend money on something when you can't see samples to be able to determine how you can fit it in or not. I only found one sample on the website and it was just one sheet, but nothing for the writing program other than a summary. Thank you for your videos- they are super helpful.

I have a rising 4 and 6 yr old that I’m considering doing 5 in a row with. First time users. Which book would you recommend us starting with? Does one book last for one school year?
