      these are literally all a waste of time. I see this being taught repeatedly and imo its silly. Shooting on a side of a hoop or on a line does not actually help with the trajectory and mental component needed to hit a shot on a 10 foot rim.
      I'm gonna write this comment in the hopes that some young guy reads this: Shooting is essentially about ensuring the power comes from your legs. The way to ensure the power comes from your legs is to always move the arms to the pocket slightly before you jump with your legs. This way the power will come as your extending to shoot. The elbow should be tucked in and the wrists should flick towards the rim. The main thing to always remember: Legs (your jump) are what drive the ball, not your arms. The arm and wrist is for aiming and as long as you flick and have the elbow not too flared out it will be on target every time. That's it.
      Actually once you understand this you dont need to even warm up much. I avg 6 threes a game in my mens league at 32 and I couldnt hit a single three for 10 years before that unless it was in warm ups.

    Thanks man! I’m 27 and never played organized basketball but am finding peace in shooting hoops at my local park. It’s still great but a little frustrating when I miss a ton of shots and since I never had a coach, I didn’t know about any of these drills. My biggest flaw (in basketball) is how inconsistent my shot placement is (usually wide right) so that first drill is gonna be a game changer in making sure I’m consistently placing the ball in a straight line!

  • @MichaelJonahTV
    @MichaelJonahTV Před rokem +30

    I always go for 10 free throws in a row before even shooting around. Free throws are the most underrated consistency builder for your shot that there is. When you find that release point on your free throw, it stays with you on all of your shota

    • @4kdefinition70
      @4kdefinition70 Před rokem +5

      10 is nice. I make 3 in a row at below the rim and take a step back and continue until I am at the line, then will shot 30 or so (not in a row) then I do around the world, again make 3 from every spot on the key, then I redo that around the world a step back until I finish at the 3. Every now and then in between when my arm is getting tired I make some left hand layups to break up the jump shooting, then when I think I have my shot dialed I will extend it to 3 point line and just try long bombs until my legs can't take it any more. usually like to finish on 2 made baskets in a row to feel good going home.

      @@bigdickalo5661 you may not always have a hoop to warm up. It’s just a practice. You’re probably more on line if you hit the line as opposed to being content with making the shot. But it’s mostly for warmups without a rim available.

    But doing that everyday helped me gain consistency and i became a very consistent shooter bc of that i believe
