  • It's about time I made a video in tribute to one of my favorites, if not my favorite drummer - Gavin Harrison! I have mentioned his name in almost every interview and questionnaire regarding my drumming background, inspirations and overall just top cats for me. Gavin is one of the most important influences on my drumming style and approach to the kit.
When I watch him now, I hear his licks and words in the songs I write and perform so clearly, and I am fortunate to have his unique flare and sense of rhythm taking a part in what I play. Especially with being a metal drummer, it has helped me stand out and create my own voice in a genre so different than his. Thank you Gavin!

Gavin has been my favorite drummer (non-extreme) for years now and this song is a perfect example of why. Loved seeing this played on a smaller kit too man. Your versatility is off the hook, but then again it's kind of a miss conception that metal drummers can't groove (if I'm not mistaken you played jazz as a kid?). Those ghost notes and subtle high hat grooves are what make this track. Killer cover. Gavin has a way of expressing himself on the kit that is so rare these days. It's uniquely him (if that makes sense). I hope this is a sign of you uploading some other ring dingers. I'd cut my left but off to see you cover literally anything by Leprous. Baard is my second favorite drummer outside of stupid heavy shit. That kid writes some insane fucking tracks. In my opinion he's the next Gavin. Cheers.

Great play through! Could you tell me what your spring tension was when you were running pearl eliminators? I've seen videos from Rings, and your heel toe technique on chain driven is incredible! I'm trying to learn heel toe (I'm more comfortable on chain driven) but every video I see is on direct drive.. any tips?

Interesting groove. I'd like to hear you improvise more with rudiments, diddles, flams, etc. to see how versatile you are at moving around the drums in unpredictable ways without losing control.
