If we go to Mars, colonize the Moon, and further beyond we can make great things happen. We can solve our impending energy crisis, we can as a species become rich with power via asteroid mining, we can learn more about the universe and discover other life, potentially on Venus, Enceladus, Europa, Triton, Pluto, or Titan.
We have so much potential.
We need to get over identity, we need to stop arguing, fighting and killing over pointless ideals and preaching, we need to unite as one species, regardless or religious belief, regardless of race, regardless of gender, regardless of ethnicity, regardless of creed, to all come together under the mutual goal of understanding what the universe holds within its grasps, and to pave the way for future generations to learn more about the universe than we have already.
I will never see a terraformed Venus or Mars, I will never in my life see exoplanets like Proxima b, Tau ceti f, or Kepler 22b...
...but maybe future generations will because of the work WE DO NOW.
I am content with that, which is why I want to become a civilian astronaut and go to Mars, regardless of risk to my health and my wellbeing, I feel compelled to go for our species.

I'm so grateful to live in the same time as these amazing people who inspire and execute our future. Makes you feel a little impatient to want to learn everything about the universe and such, but I feel some resolve knowing that we will never stop exploring. I am a holder of bachelor of mechanical engineering. I love bowie, aerospace & physics kind of stuff. But i have a little kind of disability in me. These few years has been a darkest moment in my life. Last week i got employed by a new company, its been 3 years since my last work. I quitted it because my disabilty will let someone bring humiliation to me. So this is a second chance for me, if im gonna make it, i will take my master degree in physics or Aeronautics next year, and continue to do Doctoral / PhD degree. And i have a dream that someday i will be working with NASA with those kind of space stuffs. Bowie's Starman is a life changer for me to take this second chance of my life, especially the lyrics are related to my dream. I am writing this lying at a bed, feeling anxious, and scare about my new job. I feel little ease posting this comment
