Fun Fact... A famous author, who was also an history buff, used the description of that battle in one of his book - The arrival of the Riders of Rohan at the battle of Helm's Deep in Lords of the Rings by Tolkien.
Don't forget the helms deep battle using explosives to destroy the wall like in the battle of Vienna

Not really. In books unlike movies, siege of Helm´s Deep was broken by Treants army. On nightfall orc army was filling the valley. In morning there was forrest and no orc to be seen.

This is about the battle of Vienna 1683. The city Vienna was under seige by the Osmanian empire during May to Sept.
The Polish king came to the rescue, almost 20 000 horsemen charged down the hill, the largest cavalry charge in history. Sobieski led the charge at the head of the 3000 heavy lancers, the famed "Winged Hussars".
I suggest you dive into the album Carolus Rex. An outstanding album dealing with the rise and fall of the Swedish empire.
It was a battle that changed the history of Europe forever.
Poland would be gone 100 years later.
Fun Fact: The Winged Hussars were one of, if not the most successful Cavalry unit in Human History. They almost never lost, even when outnumbered by absolutely insane numbers. This battle they were outnumbered 15:1 and absolutely smashed their enemies. They are called Winged Hussars because they used wooden frames to attach wings to the back of their breast plates, giving them the look of Angels of Death.

Polish winged hussars came to the Vienna’s rescue, caring armor like knights on horseback! Hussars are light cavalry, with lans, light armor and sword!
Hussars were absolutely not light cavalry. They were fully armored heavy cavalry. The best of the best.
I was born in Poland and have grown up with these stories.
Basically lord of the rings 2 is literally inspired from this battle
