As a deeply-motivated hard-core fan of genuine old-timey string band music .. this one is just fantastic. It has everything that a fan of this music genre could want .. the beat, the rhythm, the melody-line, that reeaaal old-time 'haunting' style fiddle sound .. yep, no doubt .. a gem.
I had all Hoyt's tracks on my MP3 player going for three hours today.Solid stuff, wonderfully slow, sliding fiddle and stomping beat. I'm a total fan of your channel here, sir. Many thanks.
I'm glad you enjoy Hoyt MIng's music. What other groups do you like? Thank you for your compliment about my channel, and I hope you have a great night, Brian
Have you ever heard of Mumford Bean and his Itawambians? They're a 1920s string band but don't seem to be on youtube although I have their two recordings as I found them in a compilation cd. I was just wondering if you knew anything about them. Thanks.

Love this mountain country hillbilly music. Gets my heart beating again!
Thank you, I am glad you are enjoying it. They are indeed treasures though certainly undervalued by most. Thanks again for your kind words. Brian

I just discovered your channel. Those are great tunes you are posting. Thanks
The LP was on Homestead, I believe, which was a County imprint.

MUmford Bean was a young man when he recorded -- a teenager maybe?? Or younger? Those two songs are the only records made.
Unfortunately for those who collect 78's,this groups records, are not at all common.
This song has words, doesn't it?
It's clearly related to 'the higher up the monkey climbs'. Check out Bob Larkins version. That said, this upload sounds like it is played too slow.
@@gammeltfossil The key seems to be B rather than C.
When was this released? It isn't the version on New Hot Times! Was this an official 78 from 1928?
You bet! Is the LP from County?
any relation to floyd ming??
Same person.
