Kolento was my hero back when I first started playing the game, started from his control priest and miracle rogue. After 6 years of me not playing, I tried to play HS again and immediately looked him up and could not find him anywhere. I always asked myself what happened to kolento, but I realised that the real question was "what happened to Hearthstone?".

I completely agree with this comment, it’s like I could have written it. I looked up to kolento when I was getting into hearthstone in 2015 and it was great watching his streams and CZcams, I stopped playing and recently wondered what he’s been up to and saw he hadn’t uploaded or anything in a while, now I see this is what’s happened with the game. I absolutely loved Hearthstone when it released and watched all the streamers mentioned in your "Why X left Hearthstone"-series. Watching these videos brings back so much nostalgia. However, being out of the loop for many years now and not knowing what exactly "Hearthstone Grandmasters" is, this format seems to have ended so many high profile HS careers. Feels like every video boils down to "Got relegated in Grandmasters and decided to quit".

Loved Kolento because he was a master at crafting new innovative decks. I remember he was one of the first to introduce Giant mage decks and this was my all time favorite, trying to use duplicate to create a wall of giants with Ice block behind. Such a fun, difficult and rewarding deck to play. I followed him quite a lot between vanilla HS, naxramas and GvG and you could see how good he was with some funky decks. Compared to Firebat who was a master of more typical aggro decks, he brought so much to HS.

Hi Rarran! I don't know how I found your videos, but I love them and they are very enternaining. But his video made me to make this comment, and it has nothing to do with Kolento or anything really about the content of the video.
I had a really bad few months behind me. Personal life, job, dating life, everything I have got my hopes up and on this week they all collapsed and I am empty and sad and lonely. On the weekend I just tried to do my mundane tasks, wash the clothes, make food, grocery shopping, then watch some youtube videos to get off my mind about everything bad happened recently. And I was fine. Not good, but I just spent the time and didn't think about anything. Then I watched this video. I always liked Kolento, I was interested what happened to him. But then at the end of the video you said the classic 'you look fantastic'. I just bursted into tears. It catched me so off guard, and I didn't know I needed just one kind sentence this much, even though its just a phrase you say in every video, this hit me so hard. I have reached a new low point on the weekend with this, but after this now I feel a little bit better. I just wanted to say thank you, even though it may look stupid, it really helped me. It is true that one kind word can change someone's entire day.

Standard Hearthstone died the moment RNG completely took over the game. I remember when the game was playing to your outs and to your opponent's outs, but when you have random card generation you're just pulling a slot machine: Sometimes you hit the jackpot, and sometimes you don't.
I think it's ironic that Battlegrounds has less RNG involved than the main game.

I came back following a 3 year break. Played the Classic mode as I have so many fond memories off that era and the barrier to entry cost for playing standard or wild. Got to Leg in 5 days playing 2-3 hours a day. Now trying out Mercenaries. Kolento was an absolute boss

MMR does not mean a lot in the HOMM 3 - what you should be looking at is the table that shows the highest ranked players in the lobby. The current top player is named Challenge Top 2. Kolento score is not even approaching top 30.

I like this series a lot. Would love to see you do a few more. I watched almost all of them. Miss Reynad the most.
LaughingHS was one of my favorite streamers back then. Hit legend twice with his Freeze Mage list.
Zilea? I think he was one of the original Control Paladin players. No clue what ever happened to him.
I quit when every deck was boring midrange decks. I think year of the mammoth rotation? When they killed Freeze Mage, Miracle Rogue, Face Hunter and Fatigue decks the game became boring for me. I also really disliked quests as a gimmick.

HOMM 3 is massive in the russian community atleast for the older gamers there. There's indeed quite the competitive scene there. I played that game alot when i was younger and i would love to be actively competing in it nowadays too, but life's just busy and that game takes time. I wouldn't be surprised if Kolento is playing it.
And yes hearthstone was at it's greatest in Naxxramas patch. My good ol' days being legend ranked with control warrior deck. Kolento was one of my favs if not the most favorite streamers at the time cause he was just so robotic but also genius and it was funny when his robotic facade breaks due to funny rng plus he had amazing insight and i learned alot from watching him.
