Always felt like Nissan was smothered by Renault and it’s Euro French aesthetic and business culture. Nissan will rise again, on its own!

  • @tshikosiphathutshedzotshik1396

In South Africa, Nissan runs an under utilised manufacturing plant while Renault is selling lots and lots of imported models. If they can share plants and dealerships to reduce import duties and sales costs, they'd stand a chance against a wave of Chinese autos.

After Carlos Ghosn left from both companies, both of them started making much higher quality cars (at least in Europe). The new Renault models are now just as good, if not better in terms of quality than Volkswagen. The new Nissan Ariya, X-Trail and Qashqai all have great quality interiors, much better than Toyota and I would say they are comparable to Lexus (on the top spec Techna+ models)

This should have been resolved years ago, but better late than never. I'm happy that Nissan is finally getting more freedom, especially since they are larger than Renault as a whole globally and have a major presence in the US, where Renault has been absent for over 30 years, although Renault's Alpine brand is planning on coming to the US by 2027 or 2028. This will be a huge milestone as it will mark the first time an actual French car brand has sold cars in the US since Peugeot's exit in the early 90s. Hopefully, the Renault brand will return to the US as well.

@Mani Carlos Ghosn was ruining Nissan management-wise and quality wise too. He is the main cause of why Nissan is struggling and he did a bunch of illegal acts so it was obvious that he needed to go. With him gone, Nissan along with Mitsubishi and Renault are both going to make a recovery.

@@AtillatheFun He only helped when Nissan was near bankruptcy. Granted he did help the company financially a few years after the alliance was formed, but later he started to make some bad decisions and began to hammer Nissan’s overall business. He was literally chasing after how many units Nissan can sell. There’s also a reason why Nissan at one point had that reputation for being a car brand that people with bad credit can buy. They also sold a lot to rental fleets and incentivized them too, and as a result their resale value was diluted badly. And he didn’t even focus on making the cars good, he just kept milking the same old designs with such cheap low quality. As an example, look at the 2013 Nissan Versa. That car basically summed up how Ghosn ran the company. On the other hand, the new Nissan Versa is not only better looking, but also has better quality too.
