Lol but there's no logic here at all he literally had like a dozen options call a cab find someone else. If I won a freaking contest with a tub full of beer I'd be like eff you losers call a cab
Well, if memory serves me right, after this night Barney winds up driving Homer's car to New York and leaving it between the World Trade towers, so he deserved a lot more after that.
Homer is the entire reason Barney is an alcoholic in the first place, Barney was going to go to Harvard or something an Homer pressured him into a beer before his sats.
Bad logic. Homer might have "pressured" him into the first beer, but it was Barney's choice to allow himself to be pressured, and then his choice to stay and keep drinking, then it was again further his choice that he flushed his life away in pursuit of more beer.
At least he has some moral sense despite being the bigger acaholic addict then homer if it was homer he would have drunken the first beer offered to him immediately regardless of the designated drivers program
The condescending way Duffman talks to Barney tells alot about the character. He's just a Duff employee who goes around in a silly costume for a paycheck. And once the party is over, he comes back to his boring house.
There's one driven by the sarcastic guy and he works for Taxi Cab Confessions which Homer almost lost his entire family over for complaining about them no holds barred, that's the only episode with one ever: How I Spent My Strummer Vacation Season 14 Episode 2
this has got to be the cruelest joke on barney, ever. all those years, he was as heavy of a drinker as he was, as much of a loyal customer of duff beer as he was, and the ONE time he agreed to be a designated driver, that is what he got in return; that torture, the one time in his life for his heavy drinking to pay off, to drink with the duff man and his sexy cheerleaders, the one time for it to pay off for him to have one of the best nights of his life from that, yet he missed out on it.
@SatansLittleGamer Absolutely. If it would have been any other night, then yes, Barney should have remained the designated driver, as hard it would have been for him, but this was no ordinary night. Homer, Lenny, and Carl wouldn't have gone home until some time the nest day, but at least Barney would've had one of the best nights of his life.
This was the intro to one of the best episodes; when Homer has to go to NYC to get his car back. LOL! 100% gold the entire 23 minutes. Khlav Kalash anyone?
“We’ll see, honey...(trash gets thrown into face)...we’ll see.” (Grand stand music starts playing) Staaaart spreading the neeeeews...Iiii’m leaving todaaaay...
I work at a bar, and one of the former part-owners at my work place was/is actually an alcoholic. And honestly, Barney had more discipline than he did. The guy at my job couldn't stay sober at all whenever there was alcohol present, although he knew he wasn't allowed to drink. Not only was he always drunk when he worked in the kitchen, but he also stole plenty of beer from the building to bring home. No matter how many reprimands the other part-owners gave him, he continued to drink while working. Finally, the others had no choice but to fire him from the company. The producers of this show certainly didn't exaggerate how hard it can be for an alcoholic to resist drinking at times like this.
The thing that went wrong with The Simpsons is exemplified in Duffman. Here he's just a guy doing a promotional gig, and 'Duffman' is the performative identity, critiquing the encouragement and romanticization of unhealthy consumption of capitalist commercialism: note Duffman's sagely nods to Barney, prodding a bar full of alcoholics to keep on consuming the shitty product that's killing them. The guy doing the performance of Duffman is going to go back to his regular, boring life after this night and is going to be back on the job the day after that, just like all those other shmoes that need to drown the stress from their alienating jobs in Duff. It's a vicious cycle. That's REAL. Later on, though, Duffman became nothing BUT 'Duffman', a flat cartoon character with nothing but the performance, the real worker behind the performance wiped away, any connection to real social relations between people and work severed. The satire is dead.
I understand your point. However it's not like it's the first time they did that with a character. We never see any signs of the person behind bumblebee man.
Jonathan Rodd Exactly. Bumblebee man was a diegetic television character who the Simpsons watched on their television set, parodying cheap latin american television comedy. Bumblebee man was a television character played by the guy in the suit. Then the commercial collapsed with the real and you get Bumblebee Man, a freak cartoon character wearing a bumblebee costume everywhere for no reason. It's the exact same deal as with duffman/Duffman. Imagine Christian Bale traipsing around in his batman costume and persona. He never takes it off and everyone refers to him as Batman. That's Duffman and Bumblebee Man.
You know, you have to give barney alot of credit. He remained faithful to be the DD that night despite the temptations.
Lol but there's no logic here at all he literally had like a dozen options call a cab find someone else. If I won a freaking contest with a tub full of beer I'd be like eff you losers call a cab
@@subsamadhi but dude, the hangover 😱
@@hidan407 lol it's Barney. He probably spends every waking moment of his life with a hangover
@@subsamadhi You've never lived in a small town, have you? There are no cabs in Springfield.
Uhhhhh, he literally got drunk and left the car in New York.
That Fucking music is just pure gold lol
Matsimus Gaming I don't know why they thought to use this track but they hit the nail on the head
Loool of all the places i did not expect to find you here hahah.
The music it called Yello Oh Yeah.
Ferris Buller and Captain Underpants had this song
Its the worst thing to hear when you fail a Driver's test (in Gran Turismo 4)
Barney deserved this after getting Homer arrested after touring the Duff Beer factory in a previous episode.
Well, if memory serves me right, after this night Barney winds up driving Homer's car to New York and leaving it between the World Trade towers, so he deserved a lot more after that.

Captain Obvious agreed
Captain Obvious This also foreshadows him going sober as seen in a later season 11 episode.
Well, I'll give Barney props. He fought those temptations and resisted, all to be the sober one to take everyone home safely.
Alirio Mendez
Barney is a true man
At least he has some moral sense despite being the bigger acaholic addict then homer if it was homer he would have drunken the first beer offered to him immediately regardless of the designated drivers program
And then he got super drunk and lost Homers car in New York
@Dalmatian nurse on break sorry did you just call barney a Catholic?
That dancing peanut dish always cracked me up!
The fact they used Ooh Yeah by Crazy Swiss monsters known as YELLO is the fucking joy.
Chick a chikaaa
"Yeah that's swell Duff wholeheartedly supports the designated driver program NOW WHO WANTS TO PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The condescending way Duffman talks to Barney tells alot about the character. He's just a Duff employee who goes around in a silly costume for a paycheck. And once the party is over, he comes back to his boring house.

Blame the regulations they dont allow parties like this
Yeah bars are always a lot more fun looking in tv and movies.

Duff Man: Are you ready to get Duffed?
“Hey it’s Duffman! A guy in a costume that creates awareness of Duff” 😅😂
I felt so sorry for Barney here. They really animated his desperation so well.
The absolute worst day of barney's life
He could've avoided it if they had just split a cab instead.
"that's just drunk talk.........sweet beautiful drunk talk" 😝
For being a heavy drinker, it's awesome Barney still has his driver's license to be the DD.
No one checked
The bowl of peanuts dancing 😂
Lenny: Hey! It's Duff Man! A guy in a costume who creates awareness of Duff!!! LOL!!!
Lenny truly is the greatest moron, and that's a compliment.
That dancing bowl always makes me laugh.
At the end with Homer, I've been there a few times.
Good for Barney! I'm a moderate alcoholic and in that night he showed incredible discipline.
Mystery Drinks That is absolutely correct. Can't argue with you on that point.
"I'm Peter Pantsless!"
That will never cease to be one of my favorite Simpsons lines.
The dancing peanuts always gets me lol
It's a fucking genius who came up with the song of "Yello - Oh Yeah" for Duffman
Lennys line when he sees Duffman is the best of this whole scene
Took every bit of his last functioning brain cells to formulate words too lol
Look at the bowl of peanuts that are dancing to the beat!! LOL 🥜🕺🏻
I’m sure it’s not easy for someone with a drinking problem to say no to a beer but Barney deserves some respect for staying sober that night.
I love the dancing peanuts on the bar.
The bowl of peanuts is dancing to the music. Lmao
0:15 I just love how the peanut bowl starts dancing for no reason.
“That’s just drunk talk!! Sweet beautiful drunk talk!!” Me after becoming a Bartender. XD

The way the bowl of nuts starts dancing on the table is so wonderfully animated for some reason.

One of the best episodes in history
how I feel when my friends pull in the driveway and im hung over "not tonight..... NOT TONIGHT!!!!"
I wish the best for barney :( when he went off the booze he got his helicopter license and was doing well
I liked when he got sober and became what he used to be. They thought it would be funnier if he was a drunk again. 🥴
I hope they never change the Duffman theme tune!
They did ._.
Not tonight. NOT TONIGHT!
Interesting fact: The Duff beer cans are actually named after the bass player from Guns N Roses Duff McKagan
One of the best entrances ever.
I like the way the cheerleaders hop in
