Got together with Billy Strings as part of a monthly series on Doc Watson songs I’ve been doing for my school of bluegrass vocals on ArtistWorks. The whole discussion was a half hour long and includes three songs. Here’s an excerpt, an old shape note hymn that Doc recorded, And Am I Born to Die (aka Idumea). Billy’s been singing it solo a capella from time to time but I learned a chilling duet version a long time ago from my Atlanta mentors Whit Connah and Barbara Panter.
