  • On August 5, 2024 a storm cell blew through the valley of the Middle Fork River of the Payette. Multiple lightening strikes caused a great many fires in two counties I am aware of. I reported fire to FS aprox. 1700 hours with locations to be seen on a map. Within ten minutes I saw a helicopter on scene observing and spotting. Because of the hour it was not possible to assault this fire from the air so this video is what I saw the following day. A lone helicopter fought this blaze with water available only a quarter of a mile away. This work is being done to stop the fire from back tracking toward civilized areas. Currently the fire is going up the mountain with the thermals to the NW toward very desolate locations.
