Idk why but when I was on that ride in Orlando all I could think about was the ride breaking down and me having to swim through the water. The thought of being in the water with the animatronic dinosaurs scared the shit out of me. The ride was fine but my imagination scared me

@@zeblackboi the spaceships are meant to either come back down or stay up forever, not just stay in space to rust. And plus, things rust faster in water, and metal is usually used for the gears so they have to be cleaned constantly to still work
Watching them submerge back under water gives me more chills than when they come up. Not sure why. Just seeing them eerily go back under while still seeing there silhouette absolutely freaks me out
Same, especially them going idle and sinking down. Then you know how deep it is… same thing with non-animatronic man made things. Sinking ships are so eerie.
The thought that scares me about submechanophobia is jumping into a lake late at night only to see some rotting, mechanical creature smiling back at you. Honestly, would love to see a submechanophobia free roam/exploration game. Maybe in a similar fashion to FNAF

Exactly. Being submerged and then slowly discover the animatronic in the muddy waters. I feel uneasy even just not knowing the depth of a pool of water. And if there are some faintly visible objects below, like pipes, drainage... Imagine if it's some mechanic beast
I was watching this and didn't feel TOO scared, but at the Big Banana's bunyip, I felt my heart DROP. Just the thought of that massive animatronic slithering through the dark, murky water and later being abandoned to rot...it makes me legitimately terrified to the point of being nauseous. (Also, I love that you showed the Time Traveler at Silver Dollar City. Legit the best roller coaster EVER)
I remember a solid 18 years ago when I went on the tram above that lake and the bunyip animatronic came out and scared the living daylights out of me. The monorail line was rebuilt a ways up so all you see is it emerging slowly, rusted and discoloured.
The thought of the bunyip just being abandoned makes me so sad. Out of all the water animatronics i've seen/heard of she was the cutest. Lil fella just wanted to laze around in the water

It's not even the subject of the creatures that scares me outside of their mouths (the ones that open and close anyways). For some reason as soon as I see a submerged animatronic or a ride with water in it, my first thought is what if I fell in, and what if I felt the mechanics, and what if the mechanics closed on a part of my body (like moving along a track and closing its mouth or when the animatronics go below water). I think I would die if I had ridden the Fluffy shark ride when it was still in action.
Lol. I remember being terrified of our local wave pool because of the giant fans that spun behind the metal grates at the wall… when you went underwater, you could hear the machines rotating. When you got close to it, you could see the giant fans spinning. It was so terrifying.

As a kid, I used to have nightmares about having to swim by myself in the old submarine ride at Disneyland. The most terrifying part was the extremely long sea serpent.
So this video made me realize three things. 1. I definitely don't have Submechanophobia 2. I kind of LOVE animatronics actually? 3. I should have been an engineer.
It's never too late to get into animatronics as a hobby. You can buy simple kits to make them yourself online. Or, if you invest in a 3D printer, you can design them and print the parts yourself. There are lots of free tutorials on CZcams
For all it's worth, I hope we get an update on Fluffy's whereabouts and whether that Big Banana Bunyip is still in the water. Those ones caught my interest since the first time I saw them.
I saw that bunyip back when it was still barely operational in 2004. The monorail track was a bit further above the water at that point so I never saw it up close. Instead, this giant discoloured head emerged from the water just below you. I never went on Wipeout due to my age but I saw Fluffy whilst watching the ride back in 2006. It looked very odd and plastic in real life; very creepy.
Ive lived in coffs my whole life and never knew what the old tracks were for, and had no idea they had this attraction! cant believe i learnt it from a yt video :)
It’s good to see some love coming to Silver Dollar City. One of the first times I went with family we got stuck in the middle of the ride for about 15 minutes and the entire time my mom was freaking out, I never knew why until I learned that she had a fear of water and a fear of animatronics.
Love Silver Dollar City. Stopped going, because it got too expensive though. Miss it so much!! We live in Neosho, Missouri and used to go like every summer and Christmas time. We would drive by this house in this little town that had awesome statues of dinosaurs and stuff before they were taken out. It was on the route to Branson. We'd make a competition out of who could spot more SDC signs the closer we got. Then we'd close out our day in the park with sodas and a trip to the taffy shop. I always got orange cream soda. I'll never forget my treasured memories. We'd also ride the train and watch the Christmas Carol at Christmas time.

I remember the first time riding “Living with the land” around the age of 4. I thought those gators were real and I let the ride operators know! I also told the animal kingdom workers there were poachers and a broken bring on the safari😂 funny to think about now!
Wow, never heard of some of these rides but the creation of that Wipeout ride is genius, dangle guests right above a shark and completely disorient them. While I don't have a fear of submerged creatures (I actually got a chance to swim with Giant Manta Rays when I visited the Great Barrier Reef) I know people tend to be very fearful of large underwater animals so that ride would definitely be over the top for some people.
The viking boar tour has traumatzed so many kids of my generation. Not only the hippos. There were also crocodiles and a cave and a watercastle. Parts of the cave and castle are still on the ground of the murky water. A nightmare.
RIP Backlot River Tour, gone too soon. As someone who loves animatronics, I hate being able to see the mechanics in water...drives me crazy cause it ruins the illusion of a creature being real. Jurassic Park especially.
So I hadn't been to cedar point in about 5 years and recently went back. That snake is so much more terrifying than I thought it actually would be and I do not have any phobia of snakes or sub mechanophobia. Lol
I instantly recognized the half submerged prisoner at silver dollar city. I went there for pretty much every one of my family trips growing up and that particular part of thr ride always Gave me the creeps.
Honestly that Bunyip animatronic horrifies me every time I see it. It's incredibly unnerving, I love him. The thought that he's still under there, shut off is even more terrifying. Holy cow.
Wow this brought back a long buried memory of the elasmosaurus at Epcot's Universe of Energy. Around the same time we rented the long-forgotten movie The Quest (the 1986 one with the kid from ET, not the JVCD one) about an underwater monster in an Australian quarry, and they were like a 1-2 punch of underwater monster heebie jeebies
Never heard of that movie. I looked it up, and think the monster looks like an algae covered excavator. Still looks scarier than most CG monsters, I'll give you that. ; )
On the Living with the Land ride, those aren’t animatronic alligators, but crocodiles. Alligators have short, rounded snouts and are more powerful for crushing. Crocodiles have longer, pointier snouts. Crocodiles are also most commonly found in places such as rainforests, whereas alligators are found commonly in swampy and marshy areas.
I have a small suggestion for a video theme: The most expensive rides to actually ride on- or- the most expensive theme parks... I would love to see that

Lol, until now I didn't even realise that what I suffer has actually a name. 😅 - This is bad...even things like statues or anchors or big painted pictures in a pool are terrifyning to me. Strangely, it isn't that bad when scuba diving in open water (like the ocean), not having to rely on the surface to breathe. Hell, I can't even jump in a pool of water with some creature in it in a stupid video game. I called it a vivid imagination to far... - But yeah, I guess submechanophobia it is ....
What's worse than all this is seeing a pool or lake drained to have the animatronics worked on and seeing the machinery that runs them. I'm not sure if that would count as submechaniphobia but seeing things like that and abandoned water parks with murky water in them creeps me out more than this.
To florida natives or even those raised her alligators are basically nothing as we know exactly how they act and everything. they are just meh all day. we know they aren't strikers preferring to wait but if they miss they give up. the only reason they would go on offense is if someone or something bugs them or disturbs their nesting sites. honestly you hear them long before even getting on top of them. honestly if you see one walk away or run fast the other way. They really aren't that dangerous if you know how to avoid them or just jump on their backs and clamp their mouth shut as they might look strong but the jaws are much weaker than you think as you can just tape them shut.
The parasaurolophus animatronics are one of my special interests so when I went to universal I rode the ride a bunch of times. Honestly riding it at night is such a cool experience. They turn on a bunch of blue lights to illuminate everything and its honestly so awesome.
I am a third generation Las Vegan and the MGM theme park was so awesome. It was sprawling and very pretty and peaceful to walk through. When they closed it, they built some facilities for conventions in its place. What a drag.
Wasn't expecting a YGOTAS reference in the Redditor's username at 4:19, was busy thinking about how much more terrifying the ocean would be with mechanical beasts too. Jaws the ride gave me hellish nightmares. the fact that the sharks used real shark teeth, which would sometimes cause actual damage to the boats during the biting scene is a nightmare in my mind.
I went to silver dollar city not too long ago and that guy alone scared me the most just his nightmarish face alone creeped me out but still I got praised because by the end of the ride I had the most points of the entire week and that saved me from waking up 30 times that night.

i watched a video on Nara Dreamland when it was abandoned. it too had a version of the Jungle Cruise. could you imagine if that ride had abandoned animatronics? i was always hoping to find a video of someone taking a boat ride down the abandoned river to see if any animatronics were still there. could you imagine how scary that would be?
The Flooded Mine reminds me of 2 rides; Pirate Adventure at Drayton Manor. The ride closed in 2015. And Seaquarium at Fantasy Island, which is still operable. I've only been on Seaquarium and I was terrified the whole way through. Never again.
Hi, I appreciate you featuring Silver Dollar City in the video because it's my home park! It's a great park, and those Flooded Mine animatronics are really creepy! It's a great ride for sure though. If anyone reading this has never been to SDC be sure to go because it has really good coasters and other stuff.
I love your videos about Animatronics they are always so entertaining! Not the same kind of animatronics in this video but once during the pandemic I was seated completely alone in the ride vehicle for Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom but I did not realize this until the ride was already moving and I was so terrified of being alone with those animatronics so I just covered my head and crouched down out of pure fear ! And I’ve ridden that ride soooo many times probably over 30 times but never completely alone in a ride vehicle it made for a terrifying time 😂
We still have flooded mine and it gives me the ick 🫠 the animatronics are so creepy. I was honestly happy when we shut down fire in the hole, another creepy water ride
I'm kinda surprised that on number 7, you didn't mention the one on Jurassic World at Universal Studios Hollywood too. While it may not be as scary to look at, it does scare riders when it lifts it's head and spouts water. And just like it's Florida counterparts, it too scares riders more than the T-Rex and Indominus Rex combined.
Just watching the included footage of this made me NOPE can't even imagine riding this. Of course, my issue is almost 100% dinosaur animatronic related, but the popping up from the water doesn't help at all

You should do one like this but with statues instead, a park in Italy called Parco di Pinocchio has a pants-pissingly terrifying statue of the Terrible Dogfish in a pool of water that you can walk around in.
#2 was my first experience with underwater animations. I was so scared I was hiding my face. My (now ex) step dad was so angry and forced me to look up. It's stuck with me all these years but no one else in my family really remembers.
I grew up in Missouri and every year for the end of the year field trip I loved going to SDC and whenever I go I always ride the flooded mine. I love that ride and the park
I’d never want to be underwater with ANYTHING man made (excepting that new dolphin we are engineering, he seems cool)… that said though, if I was given the chance to swim with a REAL parasaurolophus, I’d take the offer up in a HEARTBEAT! I LOVE dinosaurs!!! They’re so cute when they’re not hunting something! 🥰
What's ironic is that the water is only 2-4 feet, depending on the ride. So a full grown adult wont drowned. I was fearful of rides like these till I researched that it's too much money to build a deep pool. It's cheaper to build it shallow enough for the animatronics, dye the water a bit blue, and that's it. I do have its phobia. It's not debilitating, but it does raise my heart rate.
When my Mum was a lot younger (early to mid 20’s) she said she went on the Wipeout but when I show her this video she said Fluffy wasn’t there, shame too because that would’ve added an extra level of thrill

When I was on the Jurassic Park ride, when it took us up in the dark I was horrified. At that time I wasn’t so aware or Submechanophobia, but now after seeing a few animatronics such as an underwater angler fish, a run down dragon, A COMPLETELY BROKEN UNIDENTIFIABLE ANIMATRONIC, and a myth dragon man, I can assure myself I have at least a mild Submechanophobia. ALSO, I REMEMBER THE WEIRD GOBLIN ANIMATRONIC, JAWS RIDE, AND THE LARGE WHALE.

Wow, never heard of some of these rides but the creation of that Wipeout ride is genius, dangle guests right above a shark and completely disorient them. While I don't have a fear of submerged creatures (I actually got a chance to swim with Giant Manta Rays when I visited the Great Barrier Reef) I know people tend to be very fearful of large underwater animals so that ride would definitely be over the top for some people.
The viking boar tour has traumatzed so many kids of my generation. Not only the hippos. There were also crocodiles and a cave and a watercastle. Parts of the cave and castle are still on the ground of the murky water. A nightmare.
RIP Backlot River Tour, gone too soon. As someone who loves animatronics, I hate being able to see the mechanics in water...drives me crazy cause it ruins the illusion of a creature being real. Jurassic Park especially.
So I hadn't been to cedar point in about 5 years and recently went back. That snake is so much more terrifying than I thought it actually would be and I do not have any phobia of snakes or sub mechanophobia. Lol
I instantly recognized the half submerged prisoner at silver dollar city. I went there for pretty much every one of my family trips growing up and that particular part of thr ride always Gave me the creeps.
Honestly that Bunyip animatronic horrifies me every time I see it. It's incredibly unnerving, I love him. The thought that he's still under there, shut off is even more terrifying. Holy cow.
Someone should restore it.
Wow this brought back a long buried memory of the elasmosaurus at Epcot's Universe of Energy. Around the same time we rented the long-forgotten movie The Quest (the 1986 one with the kid from ET, not the JVCD one) about an underwater monster in an Australian quarry, and they were like a 1-2 punch of underwater monster heebie jeebies
Never heard of that movie. I looked it up, and think the monster looks like an algae covered excavator. Still looks scarier than most CG monsters, I'll give you that. ; )
On the Living with the Land ride, those aren’t animatronic alligators, but crocodiles. Alligators have short, rounded snouts and are more powerful for crushing. Crocodiles have longer, pointier snouts. Crocodiles are also most commonly found in places such as rainforests, whereas alligators are found commonly in swampy and marshy areas.
Omg someone finally talked about the gators in Living With The Land, I visited that attraction when I was 15 and they really freaked me out

11:02 The fact that the Bunyip animatronic is still in the water to this very day, scares me to think of how rotten and dirty it looks due to the bacteria in the water.
Lol, until now I didn't even realise that what I suffer has actually a name. 😅 - This is bad...even things like statues or anchors or big painted pictures in a pool are terrifyning to me. Strangely, it isn't that bad when scuba diving in open water (like the ocean), not having to rely on the surface to breathe. Hell, I can't even jump in a pool of water with some creature in it in a stupid video game. I called it a vivid imagination to far... - But yeah, I guess submechanophobia it is ....
What's worse than all this is seeing a pool or lake drained to have the animatronics worked on and seeing the machinery that runs them. I'm not sure if that would count as submechaniphobia but seeing things like that and abandoned water parks with murky water in them creeps me out more than this.
To florida natives or even those raised her alligators are basically nothing as we know exactly how they act and everything. they are just meh all day. we know they aren't strikers preferring to wait but if they miss they give up. the only reason they would go on offense is if someone or something bugs them or disturbs their nesting sites. honestly you hear them long before even getting on top of them. honestly if you see one walk away or run fast the other way. They really aren't that dangerous if you know how to avoid them or just jump on their backs and clamp their mouth shut as they might look strong but the jaws are much weaker than you think as you can just tape them shut.
Didn't think my fear of what's under the water was severe enough to be considered submechanaphobia, I was proven wrong today 💀
The parasaurolophus animatronics are one of my special interests so when I went to universal I rode the ride a bunch of times. Honestly riding it at night is such a cool experience. They turn on a bunch of blue lights to illuminate everything and its honestly so awesome.

I am a third generation Las Vegan and the MGM theme park was so awesome. It was sprawling and very pretty and peaceful to walk through. When they closed it, they built some facilities for conventions in its place. What a drag.
Wasn't expecting a YGOTAS reference in the Redditor's username at 4:19, was busy thinking about how much more terrifying the ocean would be with mechanical beasts too. But then I had to stop the video to laugh at the username because it jarred me out of the moment.

Some brave soul needs to save that Bunyip! And put him in a museum. He reminds me of a Jim Henson Muppet or a Brian Froud creation. He’s very pretty!
In 2004, when I last saw it, it looked like a rusted, colourless mess. That was when it was running. I doubt it looks pretty anymore.
Jaws the ride gave me hellish nightmares. the fact that the sharks used real shark teeth, which would sometimes cause actual damage to the boats during the biting scene is a nightmare in my mind.
I went to silver dollar city not too long ago and that guy alone scared me the most just his nightmarish face alone creeped me out but still I got praised because by the end of the ride I had the most points of the entire week and that saved me from waking up 30 times that night.

i watched a video on Nara Dreamland when it was abandoned. it too had a version of the Jungle Cruise. could you imagine if that ride had abandoned animatronics? i was always hoping to find a video of someone taking a boat ride down the abandoned river to see if any animatronics were still there. could you imagine how scary that would be?

The Flooded Mine reminds me of 2 rides; Pirate Adventure at Drayton Manor. The ride closed in 2015. And Seaquarium at Fantasy Island, which is still operable. I've only been on Seaquarium and I was terrified the whole way through. Never again.
Hi, I appreciate you featuring Silver Dollar City in the video because it's my home park! It's a great park, and those Flooded Mine animatronics are really creepy! It's a great ride for sure though. If anyone reading this has never been to SDC be sure to go because it has really good coasters and other stuff.

I love your videos about Animatronics they are always so entertaining! Not the same kind of animatronics in this video but once during the pandemic I was seated completely alone in the ride vehicle for Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom but I did not realize this until the ride was already moving and I was so terrified of being alone with those animatronics so I just covered my head and crouched down out of pure fear ! And I’ve ridden that ride soooo many times probably over 30 times but never completely alone in a ride vehicle it made for a terrifying time 😂

I'm kinda surprised that on number 7, you didn't mention the one on Jurassic World at Universal Studios Hollywood too. While it may not be as scary to look at, it does scare riders when it lifts it's head and spouts water.
And just like it's Florida counterparts, it too scares riders more than the T-Rex and Indominus Rex combined.
Just watching the included footage of this made me NOPE can't even imagine riding this.
Of course, my issue is almost 100% dinosaur animatronic related, but the popping up from the water doesn't help at all

You should do one like this but with statues instead, a park in Italy called Parco di Pinocchio has a pants-pissingly terrifying statue of the Terrible Dogfish in a pool of water that you can walk around in.

#2 was my first experience with underwater animations. I was so scared I was hiding my face. My (now ex) step dad was so angry and forced me to look up. It's stuck with me all these years but no one else in my family really remembers.

I’d never want to be underwater with ANYTHING man made (excepting that new dolphin we are engineering, he seems cool)… that said though, if I was given the chance to swim with a REAL parasaurolophus, I’d take the offer up in a HEARTBEAT! I LOVE dinosaurs!!! They’re so cute when they’re not hunting something! 🥰
i dont have a fear of animatronics under/in water, but i do have a serious fear of statues in water
What's ironic is that the water is only 2-4 feet, depending on the ride. So a full grown adult wont drowned. I was fearful of rides like these till I researched that it's too much money to build a deep pool. It's cheaper to build it shallow enough for the animatronics, dye the water a bit blue, and that's it. I do have its phobia. It's not debilitating, but it does raise my heart rate.

When I was on the Jurassic Park ride, when it took us up in the dark I was horrified. At that time I wasn’t so aware or Submechanophobia, but now after seeing a few animatronics such as an underwater angler fish, a run down dragon, A COMPLETELY BROKEN UNIDENTIFIABLE ANIMATRONIC, and a myth dragon man, I can assure myself I have at least a mild Submechanophobia.
ALSO, I REMEMBER THE WEIRD GOBLIN ANIMATRONIC, JAWS RIDE, AND THE LARGE WHALE.
