Oh Edie, you can tell she was lonely and missed Aaaaal in her own word's. She was never a follower always her own self, never tried to fit in, she was born to stand out. She was unique and eccentric and happy. But when I hear this home call, I get the sense she was lonely and needed someone to talk to and hang out with. What a fascinating lady. RIP Little Edie 1917-2002. 👠👚👘💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹💐
I saw grey gardens in 2010 and I have been obsessed with it. I have seen it about 40 times. It is the most interesting documentary that I have ever seen.
sherry..hahaha I've got it memorized.. OBSESSED.. I discover things and I'm like a dog with a bone. Yep Van Gough and Grey Gardens have kept me busy...
@@TrudyPatootie me too, me too! It’s (the Beales, Grey Gardens, documentaries on their lives, their home today, in 2021, and who has lived there and who resides there now etc.) ~ easy to be obsessed with ☺️ I so get it! 😀
@@Larsen3306 so fascinating. I love to study human behavior. Little Edie would absolutely love the attention that she is getting today. She and her mama are adored.
I adored Little Edie, I'm glad she was able to leave Grey Gardens and move to Florida where it was warm, but it breaks my heart to know she died in her condo and was dead five days before anyone found her. Rest dear Edie, rest.
So grateful to hear this phonecall which becomes a kind of soft ellipsis-like farewell. After Grey Gardens, The Beales of Grey Gardens, and That Summer, what feels missing is some follow-up to Little Edie after the death of her mother and her move to NYC, and then Florida. There must have plenty of interview opportunities. Did she just not want to be interviewed by anyone but the Maysles whom she knew she could trust?
Lil' Edie will always be the 50 something , happy go lucky in my mind. I'm so sad she died alone. Although, I have heard from a source that when we all die we are never alone. We all have guardian angels and that is who is with us . I know that is how she left this physical world. Rest in peace Lil' Edie.
@@joegordon2915 Her life was not improved. She was unhappy about the way they were portrayed in the film. She didn´t make other than the 5000 dollars she was paid up front - and pretty much regretted the whole thing. She was terrified when she heard the second documentary would be released, she was totally confused by how that would work. She had sleepless nights over it. What carried her through her last years were the money from the sale of the house and property, Grey Gardens, not the film. She only got those 5000 dollars.

I'm glad Al was able to tell Edie how much she was loved.

I admittedly watched this docu, but I feel unclean in doing so. May she rest in peace.
💗
That was the sweetest thing. She confessed her love for AL. He tells her I love you. She said ok bye. She was magnificent 😍
love grey gardens ... I can watch over again and think her love for AL was her dying wish she never had
Asked for some large safety pins. Poor thing. RIP Little Edie the last of her kind.
To be honest, I don't think she was the last of her kind.
She's just the most famous of her kind........

God bless her spirit. I really love her.
“France fell, but not Little Edie!” Big Edie.
Lovely lady !! So innocent !❤❤❤

This is sad. Oh Lord. Rest in peace, both Edies.
I have so much love for her 💕
I love this so much. Thank you
This is lovely 🦅❤️🦅
Anyone know what year this phone call was?
P.s thanks for uploading. Glad to know others love her as much as I do ❤️
My mother in law sounds just like this.
That's sweet.
Oh, I just figured out the Al she was speaking to, it’s Albert Maysles!!!! ;)
when was this recorded
She was 85 years old in 2001, she passed away January 14, 2002 at age 86. She was so awesome and eccentric.
Did she know she was being recorded? Why DID he record the phone call? To exploit her further for cool cash?
nobody made money from the doc, but little edie's life was improved because of it, so how is that exploiting?

where did she die?
So said they found her dead after 5 days and her brother went to claim her. How sad. She died alone. Breaks my heart.
@@dennybenz5846 Her two brothers died in the 1990's. Not sure who claimed her. Maybe her nephew?
@@dennybenz5846 so very 😞 sad
@@dennybenz5846 I think it may have been a nephew. Apparently her brothers passed in the 90’s :(
She was found in her apartment bathroom. She died of a heart attack. :(
