Indonesia's President Abdurrahman Wahid, arrived in India on Tuesday for the first day of a two-day official visit.
His trip, which is part of a world tour, has been dogged by reports that one of his key ministers - former army chief General Wiranto - is conspiring to topple the first democratically elected presidency in Indonesia in 44 years.
In Indonesia, General Wiranto said in an interview that he may step down.
After a 16-day tour of Europe in which he continually assured leaders and investors that he was in full control of Indonesia, President Wahid arrived in India for a two day official visit.
After India, there's just one more stop in South Korea before his world tour ends.
President Wahid arrived with a large business delegation, including several Indonesians of ethnic Indian origin.
At the Presidential Palace in the centre of Delhi, he was welcomed by the Indian President K-R Narayanan and the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Wahid, who is in frail health, did not make the customary review of an honour guard after he was formally welcomed by the head of state.
He then spoke to journalists about the controversy which has dominated his tour - that former Army Chief General Wiranto was conspiring to topple the first democratically elected government in Indonesia.
He confirmed he would be asking his former army chief to resign on his return home.
Wahid has repeatedly asked the former commander to resign, following a government investigation blaming Wiranto for the mayhem in East Timor.
Indonesia's military command was widely accused of aiding anti-independence militias in their looting, burning and killing in East Timor, after the territory voted for independence from Indonesia last year.
Wahid also claims that in the mid-1990s, Wiranto tipped him off about a military plan to kill him and Megawati Sukarnoputri, now vice-president.

"Question: Are you prepared to live with him, trust him, or are you still going to sack him when you go back?
Answer: Well, er, the word 'sack' is too heavy, but anyway I will ask him to quit.
Question: Gus Dur, Faisal Tanjung and Wiranto have denied that there was an assassination attempt or plot in the past. How do you comment on that?
Answer: Who accused them of doing so? I just said, you see er, there was an order -- an order came from Faisal Tanjung, so whether it's a plot or not I don't know, but anyway there is an order."

As if to underline the significance of speculation about possible assassination plans, the President laid a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial on the banks of the Yamuna river.
The memorial marks the site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated after his assassination in 1948.
President Wahid is due to return to Jakarta on Sunday.

Mungkin di masa gusdur saya masih TK jadi kurang tau kenapa di lengserkan, saya taunya cuma dari media dan artikel. Gusdur presiden ke 4 yang di lengserkan parlemennya bukan karna di demo rakyatnya. Orang baik musuh penguasa orang jahat musuh rakyatnga sendiri.
