As a rick main, I feel like the initial 5-10 games where you have to figure out the buttons is so worth the huge payout. Once you figure out all the moves combos should be fairly obvious. And once you learn how to send people through your portal it’s wraps.
Ong, first time I played Rick I was garbage, but after 2 hours I was winning games, it took a lot of losses tho😮💨

Not only do I think that Harley isn’t fun to play against in general, but to play against her 5 times in a row is just torture for me

everyone i fight usually dodges out of my ladder combo with finn which kind of resorts me to just trying to get as much damage as possible

Wildcard vouch for Reindog!!! I came into MVS with zero platform fighter experience but a lot of traditional fighting game experience, and Reindog was the very first character that made perfect sense to me. For my tastes, I think he’s the funnest character in the game.

Issues is an understatement? For example, Superman ice breath is supposed to slow down projectiles like bugs Bunny acme rocket, his bank safe make them drop or make them go another direction, for some reason it doesn't work on all projectiles.
Velma has a good keep away game, she can cross you up, she has good normals, she can use her book and 📸 camera as a good recovery and a good melee option for opponents, I can go on and on. She is definitely not a bad character
I love playing Arya I think she's easy to play if someone tells you the combos. They are really strong but hard to learn on your own.
Side attack + recovery + sair, jump dair or upair (depending on your opponents di)
After this it is basically the same combo but making it fancy, i would call this combo sdu ( sair dair up air ) to make this list shorter.
Nair + sdu
Side attack+ neutral special + dodge sdu
Down attack + dodge sdu ( on lower percents and it is really unreliable)
Side attack + neutral special + instant dash attack (kill confirm in higher percents)
Sdu (but only work over 80 percents with jump dair or might work earlier with weakest character) dair recovery (sair or upair a really strong kill confirm)
You can also throw the dagger and instant recovery sair up...
When you land one of the previous combos and your opponent have the dager you can do side special after the combo and you will most likely to be on top of the map giving u true kill confirms really early.
As a main arya she is not eassy the problem is not on knowing the combo but being able to be constantly reading your oponents di and being able to keep the control on the close combat bc she has no range, but if you do the execution correctly she is low A tier so...
Arya & Easy should never be in the same sentence ever. This is coming from a arya main with 800 wins with her
@@luisex18rojas55 Hey! I am also an Arya main, but still lot to learn and today I got matched with another masked Arya and she was really good.
She did a move where she hit me up in the air (standard stuff so far, where I usually follow up with an up stab into juggle), but then while I was in hitstun, she charged a move that hit me to the side and down if I recall. So she was travelling with me and hit me with an undodgeable attack (since I was stunned).
I tried to replicate this in training mode, like hitting the enemy up and dodging upwards but I can't seem to figure out how to pull this move off. It was very powerful and I want to learn it.
Do you per chance know this technique?
Probably recovery charged sair (shortly) and followed with a down air (after sair you can follow with another aerial most of the time if u read your opponent posistion, it ain't true though) Sair= side air btw

As a Garnet, Rick and Harley Main. All of your takes were completely spot on. I’ve some what strayed from Harley because she gets everything so easily and its unsatisfying. Rick feels fun and Garnet is EXACTLY like Mario. She’s as good as who mains her.

Wonder Woman has got to be unhealthy tier or tippity top of 777 tier, most simple plug-and-play strong character in the game period, she somehow has a combination of speed, range, strength, weight, defense, and utility and her gameplan is extremely simple and basic.
I main Arya and I have to play very precise and if you make one mistake or flub one punish you're screwed, with WW you just space sairs all day and mash armored moves and even if you miss you're good, absurdly overtuned character

while i was grinding the top dog challenge, i just found it easier to go joker the whole time because he has actually winnable matchups against the swarm of toptiers i was facing 24/7
to be completely honest, theres probably more problematic characters in high-level play, (the swarm of top tiers in question) - mostly wonder woman, but also harley, bugs, and gizmo
but joker is my answer to “i dont wanna think about dealing with this nonsense anymore” character
I main Steven, he is a skill check character but He’s not fast and you have to utilize all his abilities to make it work. He’s pretty easy to ring out and he doesn’t do too much damage but his combos are nasty. I’d say it’s a ticket scratcher tbh
I main Jason and I'm close to getting 400 wins with him. Everything you said is right, but I still believe that he isn't that hard to get wins with. Yeah sure mages and mix up heavy characters who use their brains destroy him, but eventually they will make a big mistake and then I'll punish them really hard.
Furthermore, just because this character is built like this, he forces you to learn the game and experiment with different strategies (like using specific perks or playstyle) which is really good, considering that the top characters are doing great even with the default loadout or playing like you ate 5kg of glue.
Personally, I would put Jason in the "Bingo" tier. I could live in a world where I could put Jason in the "scratcher" tier, but he's kinda dependant on how good the opponent is. If Jason didn't have the kill potential he has, he would probably be placed with Velma in the F tier and in the "PowerBall" tier of yours.
His hitboxes need some serious love or they could speed him up just a bit. He has too much startup and end lag for a character with no armor frames. He’s really fun to play tho and it sucks he struggled at high levels.
Tip: if you close the game when you see your opponent(s), but before you select perks, you don't get a leaving penalty :) lol.

The characters i hate play is Rick and Marvin, i really don't understand what i'm doing with those, have no idea how to make a combo or use their special moves in a effective way, wouldn't never recommend for newbies
Finally someone who isn’t downplaying how broken harley and finn are. They are so incredibly broken and anyone who doesn’t say they are broken 100% main one of these characters or mains a character that finn and harley have a hard time dealing with
I’m a Finn main and I agree. But just because the character is OP doesn’t mean the player is bad. He can be countered by basically any mage because he can’t charge up his attacks and can’t get up close which is his role in the game, as Assassin.
I only play harley quinn on my account (I played her before knowing she was even good because I like the character), but when I play I have more of a problem playing against Finn, Banana Guard, Wonder Woman, Shaggy, and Buggs than I do Harley and Joker
Ima Harley Quinn main and what I noticed is she’s actually really fun to use once you get her down. She wouldn’t be a problem to most people but Harley mains use so much combos it’s almost impossible to beat them in a series

Arya its literally 1 of the best characters in the game on 1v1, there was a tournament just few days ago where 1 Arya reach the losers final against all the op characters all the time like joker or iron giant

As a bugs main your slightly right however if you actually go against a good character and player you need that "complex" game style with his tools he's not easy when it's competitive

I main Arya. Arya is only thought of as difficult to play because fighters like Shaggy and Banana Guard are braindead easy in this game, but compared to other games like Smash she’s really just an average-difficulty fighter, it takes about 30 games I’d say to get good at her which is a lot in multiverses but pretty normal for other platform fighters
In a few months Arya, Tom and Jerry and LeBron (if he gets buffed) will be the meta because they have a higher skill ceiling than every other fighter NGL
I can’t find a Main hopefully they’ll make me one within the next six months

i agree with most of these. i just wanna add my opinion. bugs air up attack is borderline unhealthy cause it covers a lot of area and fast compared to jason's air up special. i think for every up special jason use bugs could do times in the same amount of time. the worst part is that it hits as hard as jason's. i also wanna add rick's side attack that has a huge hitbox that also covers above his head. what do you think about this?
I think I may have said that about bugs too. 🤔 I think a lot of characters have some pretty easy times ringing out from the top, however, due to bugs being delayed it's a bit easier to counterplay than one that comes off the cuff like Joker's.
Jason's up special is the slice. Bug's up special is the rocket. The bat is actually the up air. (up tilt in the air) That's why his is faster.
Jason's up air is two stabs.

Agreed with most, except the morty placement. Maybe im biased because i main morty but i had to lose the first 50 games just to get closer to understanding his kit. No WAY he is in the same teir of difficulty as finn and banana guard. You need to use your brain to use morty unlike a lot of other characters
Putting mort in top tier is crazy work.He geuingly sucks for anybody under a very very high level.And even then you have to put in so much work to get something even remotely similar to what harley or ww could get for nothing.

I feel like the biggest problem Velma has right now is that she's got 3, arguably 4 dead special moves and two of her aerial buttons are just air versions of her grounded buttons. I love playing neutral with Velma and taking advantage of her disjoints, but I find myself really only using 6 moves total: Light bulb, megaphone, 1-2-3, Calculated, Flash Light and Camera. She's got good bones and I enjoy what she's got, but I totally understand why a lot of people find her boring.
They also nuked her kit and that cooldown is rough
@@Dabrownman1812 As I understand it her original incarnation was more of a trapper/zoner type character, so I probably wouldn't have liked her as much. I personally think the moves she has that aren't useless are fine, I just wish that she had more than 8 moves that aren't totally useless... and I'm not talking about "oh, just bad" I mean actively dead slots in her moveset.
- Flask requires the opponent to stand in it for 6 seconds out of its 7 second duration, has no attached attack leaving velma vulnerable for the entire animation and does *absolutely nothing* unless it freezes the opponent.
- Run takes a good 2 seconds to come out entirely uncharged, is disadvantageous *on hit*, is death on whiff and a high charge run will just flat out fail if it hits the edge of the stage.
- Her book projectile has a TWO MINUTE COOLDOWN, gives cooldown reduction that she doesn't benefit from and only does 5 damage with barely any knockback or use as a combo extension.
Despite it all, I like current velma's gameplan, I just wish that she had more than 8 moves. One or two useless moves are fine on a character, but I've never seen a single character have 3 contenders for 'most useless move' at the same time.
@@kevingriffith6011 she was a support yeah, now a mage and they changed some her properties. Her calculator smack used to just have knock back, now it bounces someone over your head to start combos
@@Dabrownman1812 Her calculator is one of the best tools she has thanks to the suction, since it enables her to put her opponent into a vortex of repeated 50/50s to rack up damage.
It *is* clear to me that she wasn't designed initially to be self-sufficient, which turned out to be a disaster since I think 90% of the community's current preferred game mode is 1v1, not 2v2.
Hell, being in 2v2 actually makes her megaphone *worse* since it locks on to your ally randomly, robbing her of one of her most consistent neutral and spacing tools.
@@kevingriffith6011 it has a different function yeah, and the megaphone used to be an aimable longbeam that could zone people off of the map. I just gotta get used to the cooldown but they also changed her air side smash, the flash light. Just, she feels weird

I don’t really agree with the Harley take. It might be that I don’t face good Harley’s but imo all you really need to do is be patient and have them run at you. With how her specials are this effectively removes all of them except her up special and with how long her moves last if you can get over her or under her while she’s attacking or space well you can punish effectively. I think joker is what happens when you give Harley better specials though

If you dodge or spam him he's dead, you need a teammate that can play as a team and breaks you out of a jumping, if not the opponents can get free kills.
If you know the matchup IG is impossible to win with without a teammate's help, and people seem to play single player more than half the 2v2 games.
As a Finn main, I do not disagree where we have been put.

To be honest, with where he is at in the game at the moment, I don’t think anything should change. If I had to say, his air down special should spike instead of making enemies go up.
Harley Quinn main here, Wonder Woman is a hard counter for us. And Gizmo on a small stage= hell game for us
Wounderwomen is not a hard counter she was just one of the only characters that can keep up toe to to with harleys speed. Theirs also a perk that breaks armor with dash atacks. It makes fighting wonderwomen with harley a breeze.

I love the vast majority of your placements, especially Steven who I think is definitely top tier and not as difficult as people make him out to be. And your assessment of Jason, who is one of the most difficult characters in 1v1s, he’s just so slow, slower than Iron Giant; I’ve desperately tried to make him work and he just doesn’t XD One, single criticism: WW my dude, she’s is super unhealthy for the game. She has three armor moves, the second best nair in the game, speed, mobility, extremely difficult to kill, ranged melee, countless kill moves, and arguably the best juggling in the game. Genuinely, I’m not just crying here, WW is not my kryptonite, Shaggy is and I’m not calling for Shaggy nerfs. You’re right, she’s not completely braindead like Harley when it comes to offense but she is totally un-punishable in neutral, with insane kill potential at higher percentages.

Hard disagree on velma not being bad, I tested this out im a pretty good player with about 300 hours of experience and skills carried over from other plat fighters and I played velma against a casual friend who plays dead by daylight and just has fun throwing out whatever on harley not really into fighting games like that. In other words whenever we play I roll her, EXCEPT for when I tried playing velma against her I went 1-2. It isn’t a not know how to play her issue its a she’s inherently weaker than most of the cast issue
And before anyone starts wondering if I main a character thats easier to play, I main Arya, which is admittedly easier than velma, but according to this tier list she’s in the same tier and frankly Arya is only easier because she’s actually stronger so 🤷♀️
I genuinely don’t think Harley is that bad. You can punish her so easily. Is she very spammy, yes. But I think if we nerf her she becomes unplayable. Her whole thing is that she is supposed to be light but a hard hitting melee character. She has extremely limited range. So if they made her weak she’d just be bad. And I know this is a 1v1 tier list, but she’s not OP at all in 2s. Great list, and I don’t disagree with where she’s ranked. But I don’t think she’s broken

Harley has a quick move start up and short whiff lags, almost impossible to punish on character who start ups aren't instant
the rankings were spot on but you got the character type wrong for Steven and Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is an Assassin not a tank and Steven is a supporter. Pretty good video 9/10

Like for real their hitboxes aren t that huge compare to other character in this tier, their jab is really bad with lots of startup so u can just "side then go away".
Their down air is massive on that you are right
But it easy to know when a tom & jerry wants a dair. Their up air have sour spot that kills really late so u need to find that sweatspot to have early kills and if people aren t dumb they won t try to pass above them. In general tom and jerry have a really hard time finding kills which absolutly doesn t put them in easy characters to win with.
U give someone to begin the game with tom & jerry and they ll get destroyed by any other character

Bro what, Batman at the top!? I'm a good Batman player and I get my butt handed to me by characters that have an advantage just by being that character. Tanks and mages are a nightmare for Batman, on a same skill match they will always have the advantage over you. Bugs Bunny, Gizmo, Superman, Wonder Woman and even Shaggy are very hard to deal with and you're gonna sit here and tell me Batman is a free win character!? Nah bro 😂
For what the the list was going for he was right imo. Super easy to pick up character. Feels like a noobstomper if you will. Playing batman feels either like your destroying people, or you can feel that the player understands batman and knows how to outplay you easily. So for a “competitive” tier list batman should definitely be lower although not bad. Once you understand the limits of Batman he becomes worse.
@@LayZ_Gamer I don't think he's super easy to pick up, Shaggy is super easy to pick up. With Batman you have to know what you're doing to make good use of his resources. Maybe we are on different levels but at my level Batman is very hard to win games with and there are characters that have a HUGE advantage against him. Let's not forget that Batman is either the second or third lightest character in the game, he's even lighter that friggin Gizmo which means tank characters are hard to deal with. Batman is fast, requires pressure and tactics with his resources plus he is light as a feather. In the beta Batman was better but now u barely even see him in tournaments. I think we are from 2 very different planets bro 🤣

No hate but Batman moves all about juggling and fast engages, roughly the same game-plan as Shaggy. Also Batman should be able to destroy tanks in neutral, they be combo food, Batman’s fav snack 😂 You right about mages though, hard to get close to a Bugs or Joker.

@@poppinoftenwithlofton6036 after they nerfed his backpack move, he was average. The backpack move was the only thing op about Finn. Everything else was average. Maybe the gem could be a chest code at times but it has flaws like he able to destroy it mid throw or punish it by attacking while near it. Finn isn't broken he's decent.

@@eventhoyouwerentasking Jason can’t really combo, a lot of his moves are very slow so it’s hard to get a lot of his moves to combo into each other and istg if you say jab 1 > jab 2 > down special that says a lot about your skill level
Marvin doesn’t really have combos given a lot of his moves are projectiles and that’s kinda what his whole gimmick is
Iron Giant’s infinites got nerfed so there you go
Taz almost has no combos, hence why he’s a bottom 3

He struggles against projectiles and he’s the slowest character in the game
Harley’s moves are fast, they have insane combo potential, a lot of her moves have disjoints (something the video goes into but I guess you decided to ignore that) and her knockback can be pretty dumb
Harley’s been stupid since the open beta and given the amount of sweaty Harley’s I ran into back then I think that’s guaranteed

When going against higher level players that know how the game works, I’d agree with you. But on casual gameplay, nah. His moves have insane priority and a crazy hit-box. I feel like you definitely have to do more with Morty to get a kill than you have to do with Finn.
