I think it's because of the potrayal, i mean we can like a character not because of the things that they are doing, but rather because of how real they feel like? The actress was really amazing and I think that must have been why the op said so

Most probably, the character that I despised the most is Bae Ro Na, she's so stubborn yet dumb. She could be adamant if she could protect herself well but she couldn't because she is so idiotic.
Joo Seok Kyung's actions are wrong but just because she grew up in a household where she thought that violence and cheating are okay to make your way. But on the other hand, she's not that totally bad, she was just manipulated.
