They've been doing a good job making DLC characters unique, my biggest issue is most characters and kameos playing the same. Why choose anyone other than Johnny and khameleon as we saw at final kombat
Exactly! There's no reason to. Some people are calling for kamoes to be buffed to Khameleons level. I think that is a bad idea. If all they will do is make unsafe moves safe, everyone will still chose Khameleon because she does that the best. It won't change the meta one bit. I don't even understand why people are complaining about seeing Johnny/ Khameleon so much at Final Kombat. What did you expect to see? Scorpion and Sub Zero? In a tournament for money, of course all you will see is Johnny/ Khameleon. There the two best characters in the game.
In 5 years everyone will be praising the end state of MK1 and shitting on MK2.

I think the characters themselves have been fun, interesting, and unique. The rate that they've been dropping combined with the lack of cosmetics compared to the rest of the cast (no seasonal skins, only 20 mastery levels) has been by biggest negative.
I actually kinda enjoy seeing guest characters like Omni Man, Peacemaker and Homelander, especially Omni Man and how the adaptations from the show were brought in Mortal Kombat.
What I don't like is that legacy characters like Quan Chi, Ermac and Takeda are DLC, especially Ermac who should have been base roster from the beginning along with other male ninjas such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero etc.
Hopefully Kombat Pack 2 will be even more fun
I think ermac was the character that everyone needed when he released cause there was hype before his dlc and when he came out it brought some hope back to the game.

Love most of the characters this is the first mortal kombat I’m decent to play online, love omiman I just want more cosmetics with the dlc roster as well as more brutalities. Overall 7/10

Peacemaker and Omni Man was the most fun for me at first and homelander is fun once you master his flight cancels and my favorite DLC Kameo is Khameleon

What i love about mk1 is every character can be a good character with long combos, while mk11 each character was either slow with few conbos or very fast but alot of combos

When I think of John Cena voicing the character, I always imagine him saying "Yes!" without even hearing how much he was going to get paid just because it was Mortal Kombat. That's the vibe that I get when I hear him. He sounds so stoked to be there.
I remember when they nerfed subzero and said they didn’t want you to get high damage while using the same move and shit on his damage.
Now the combo I get the highest damage with uses the same input repeatedly.
Killed the character for nothin
Back then, subzero was high risk but high reward. Now, he is high risk and low reward. I really hope they revert him one day. In my opinion, he is one of the most fun characters to play, but the outright frustration I feel while playing him and then fighting damn near the entire cast is just exhausting.

@@christianhenry4173 Now that is something I do NOT agree with. If I take a break from MK1, it isn't because of the game itself. I think the game is the most fun NRS game as of yet. I just can't stand a majority of the people that play in a stupid way which makes the game just tiring. Like the people who try to play the game by just jump 3ing. There are a lot that do that, I don't know why, and it just makes the game less fun.
For me MK1 is sooooo close to be my favorite in matter of Gameplay and Fun . The KP1 was a massive success for me as Quan and Ermac are also my mains.
I think Mk1 is gonna be great by the time the ultimate edition update comes out but its gonna struggle a lot more until then
they have got to add beast from the xmen and have a mr beast cameo that says to like and subscribe
I’m gonna try and sum my thoughts on the current dlc so far:
Omni-Man: Someone I didn’t know about until I slowly started looking up the Invincible series and it’s incredible how simple and fun his kit is. A little stubby and he does have some really good stuff, casually he’s kinda shallow if you’re not good at his dive bomb but really fun to experiment.
Tremor: A very good example of a kameo who a lot of potential but he needs to major buff or rework because the only good thing he has is his otg.
Quan Chi: Impressive when he was revealed and very cool to see but he’s so complex and relies on set up that he needs a lot of time to play. The buffs he got absolutely made up for the lackluster arrival especially with the portals.
Khameoleon: I’m very happy to see a rare character return with a unique and cool gimmick, it bums me out that she overshadowed over half the entire kameo roster.
Peacemaker: Literally the least interesting character revealed proving everyone wrong. A funny guy, amazing buttons, a ton of combo potential, and just knowing it’s John Cena makes it even better.
Janet Cage: Sadly I never used her to fully appreciate what makes her good but I’ve seen enough gameplay to know she’s an amazing kameo.
Ermac: Another I sadly haven’t played enough but he’s a mixed bag for me. Everything he does makes Johnny Cage look like easy mode but the level of execution is way more demanding than Quan Chi.
Movado: Someone I only had interest in seeing what he has to provide turned into an all out aggressive combo bro. I have more fun using him with different characters and learning how he can help extend combos.
That’s mostly it, currently I’m still in Mexico for another week so I haven’t even downloaded Homelander but he does look like a blend of Ermac and Omni-Man with how complex his moves are but also how free-flowing they feel. There isn’t much I can say the dlc so far aside from reevaluating Tremor’s variation gimmick (seriously who uses his anti air lava or any of his metallic assists?) and tone down Khameleon a little bit. The rest of the main cast though need some kind of major step up, as much as I like seeing almost every ninja in the game only Smoke and Rain feel solid because the rest don’t have that secret sauce that makes people want to pick them up. Imagine if Reptile gets a crazy buff that makes all of his combo strings, the ones where he transforms like B2, hit harder or come out faster while he’s invisible or if Scorpion gets a tether grab from his spear combos other than the air spear; a lot of the main characters need something to stand out because only a handful feel really cool and fun to use while the dlc characters have more charisma than the rest.
I once saw someone say that they are tired of all of the characters having different gimics like Omni man's viltrimite stance or shao's axe. It was the most confusing opinion of the game I had ever heard. Do you just want all the characters to be the same?
@@Lance.Gardenhire not at all, what I want is for each character to have that one thing that makes them stand out from the rest. Look at Havik for example, he has special moves that give him meterless combo potential or how Kung Lao has an armored launcher, I want everyone to have something that stands out from the rest that isn’t a gimmick.
@@jaidora Again, gimics make characters different and unique. Shao's Axe, Kenshi's sinto, Omni Man's stance, Homelander's dash, Ermac's cancel, Johny's hipe, all of these make the characters unique. These are what makes the character fun. I find reptile boring as hell to play. He would be more fun if he had a reptile form. Stuff like this makes characters different from all the rest and make the character more fun.
I just cant wait to finally move past superheroes in this game. If i wanted to play injustice i'd play injustice
I disagree with the kameleon part where u said more Kameo should recover fast like her. Fighting her is like Fighting against two characters right now. Kameo shouldn't recover so fast. Kameos are just there to assist from time to time., not to take over the game where you're Fighting two characters at the same time.

I think all the dlc have been so good (a couple too good haha) but I’ve been loving the game all together I do agree I hope quicker regen and make more moves ambush just buffs all around for the kast
I love both quan chi and ermac’s gameplay in this gameplay. Some of the coolest playing characters nrs has made. Just sucks that there’s so much other bs that’s been around the game
What mk1 really needs is a way to get health back when it’s chipped. This game is so reliant on chip damage and it really makes the games boring seeing people just get chipped. That and a pushblock. It needs more defense options. And buff all the Kameos
Defensively, I think the only thing that should change is that flawless block should stun you for a brief moment if it wasn't a projectile. There has been so many times where I flawless blocked Johny, but I still had to just hold block.
I mostly agree. Grey health is something that MK never used, but would be helpful. What if you had grey health for the chip damage, then lose it, if you get hit?

I think Omni-Man has the most boring gameplay. Casualtay is the one who makes Omni-Man look really fun. Quan Chi, on the other hand, is really fun to watch (i think hes the best dlc character)because he has three variant gameplays: zoning with Sonya and Janet, setup with Frost and Jax, and rushdown with Sareena.
Peacemaker is a fun character because he has a good variation of combos, but he becomes really boring when he's just zoning and using torpedo moves.
Ermac is amazing and really fun to watch with his cancel combos.
Homelander has the playstyle I wish Omni-Man had, and I'm glad he's not a crazy zoner.
I have no fun fighting homelander. Like 90% of them just run and fly away and zone. my mains are primarily subzero and Ermac, and they do not do well against zoners. Ermac's teleport is to slow and way to negative to use it as a get in tool.

In my opinion this game came out with lil content but me as a mk fan was hyped a lot of stuff was buggy they came out with more content with season fatals (and trust a lot people mad about the price but I didn’t care) content was rolling fast forward in my opinion the game is better still some stuff we waiting on (online practice) and im really excited for the future of this game (I hope stage fatals, onaga, Ghostface, shinnok,erron Black and instead of nerfing kameos we buff them comes to the game)

Nah scorp should be buffed by making his strings quicker (not necessarily startups). Would allow him to combo more and be a more interesting char to play

KP1 is amazing by far, but what I see in the recent leaks is quite alarming, since it seems they might stop supporting the game after the expansion DLC :(.

Havoc: He needs at least five new attack strings, he needs his legacy move that titan havoc has were he takes off his head and rolls it but its a mid, has the same affect as reptiles acid ball, and also hits mid exploding on contact. he also needs another one of his legacy moves that again titan havoc has where he bends his hole body for a low projectile and the amp of that can be a knock down allowing for combo extentions for cameos like scorpion
Sub-zero: he needs his attack strings made slightly faster except for his overhead, he also needs 1or 2 new attack string launchers, both his regular and amp iceball needs to be faster to not only be able to combo with it off of normal attack strings but in juggle combos too. He should have the ability to throw his ice clone, i also think he should have his ice burst special back with the same proporties as mkx to compliment his ice clone(but just does not send you that far away). lastly he needs some of his damage scailing off ground freeze.

Poke system needs reworked no move should be slower than 23 frames walk speeds increased and add an actual counter hit system
For me, omniman feels so extra in this iteration as we would have homelander and even though they play very differently I still don't like his addition to the game, it is completely bias tho as I really don't like invincible.
Other than that the whole pack was very hype for me as I really like all of them except omniman, still I would have love to see noob saibot or even jade in the pack, but still very excited for the rest

two Superman's that basically so far are the only guests and the rest are all characters from this franchise, so, in short NRS doesn't know the meaning of unlocking by playing.
They are not just 2 supermans. They are very, very different from one another.

I’d take original MK characters anyday over DLC Supes! Not a fan of The Supes in this Game! We also need a New MK character in this game! Other than that a great game that’s only going to get better!

Well, there is no place for Ghostface, Conan, and T-1000 to be in Mortal Kombat 1. And we already had Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander. So, the Mortal Kombat community needs to add some guest characters to make money out of them.

My main problem with the game and why I stopped playing it was because it felt like a MK 11 DLC. MK 11 wasn’t even my favorite, but its marketing and hype was spot on during its life cycle. Plus the cameos seemed to me like the laziest excuse not to code those actual characters in the game. Not to mention as an actual game mechanic cameos are lame. Finally the last thing was the speed and damage scaling of the game. So slow and sluggish. Not rewarding at all to learn the combo inputs

Same floaty slow jumps, limited combo avenues even with a shitty kameo system that was supposed to make the game more robust with all this variety turns out its just the Johnny Peacemaker Khameleon game, flawless block is back but worse it made sense for it to come back exactly like it was in MK11 to help defense in this game but nope now it's just a shitty no chip damage version that in most cases isn't worth the risk, no run mechanic and endorses zoners and low poke/grab meta heavy gameplay almost the same game which is why they both suck ass

If NRS was actually paying him, they would be flying him out to play the characters early.
The two washed Supermans immediately stopped me from buying the dlc. Just aswell as the fact that Ermac and Quanchi should have been base roster… they could’ve added someone like Bayonetta. A perfect fit for this games mechanics.
You see, every Mortal Kombat game in NetherRealm Studios follows the guest character genre. For example:
Mortal Kombat 9: Kratos as a PlayStaion exclusive character and Freddy Krueger as a horror icon.
Mortal Kombat X: Jason Voorhees and Leatherfeace Slaughter as horror icons and Predator and Alien as 90’s action Sci-Fi characters.
Mortal Kombat 11: The Terminator, RoboCop and Rambo as 80’s action heroes and The Joker and Spawn as comic book antiheroes.
Mortal Kombat 1: Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander as comic book antiheroes who are from streaming series (Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max).
I think Mortal Kombat 1 should be focusing on getting more comic book antiheroes who are from streaming series (Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max). But if Doom Slayer does ever get into the game, I think video game antiheroes could be the next guest character theme for the next Mortal Kombat game.
Being a 90s baby, you can't beat mkx & Mk11 guest characters... just perfection! SPAWN BEING THE BEST OF ALL TIME. This is definitely for the younger crowd. Only care for Ermac and Takeda. Again, this game lacks passion and charisma. It is what it is hoping: the next DLC is more appealing
