So so many of my friends are going sober. I think all of us are just feeling heavy. Stressed and broke. Dropping the alcohol seems natural. I’m not saying I’ll never drink again, but I’m happy to quit 90% to start.
I abstain from alcohol due to my religious conviction, my whole family do. But even in Malaysia, the pressure to drink alcohol during festive season is very high. People look at us like we're being rude when we politely decline to the drinks offered. There is an overall negative assumption about us. Just be assured that you are going the right path. There will always be resistance, inwardly & outwardly, but I pray that you have the strength & help to stay sober. 🧡
I love a good declutter. I only have 22 perfumes, and managed to declutter two of them because I found myself not only not reaching for them, but actively avoiding them. Time to go.
Love this!! So proud of you for trying to stop drinking. Especially during the holidays!❤️ It’s tough, especially with how normalized excessive drinking is especially in young adults. Im 27, and after being over a year sober from alcohol I can say it has changed my life completely, I’ll never drink again!
Thank you for being vulnerable with us. I always get a bit down around the holidays, but this year, I tapped out of most events, and it was the least sad I've felt. Treating Christmas and New Year like any ol' day was the BEST and took away all the pressure... and depsite what my brain told me....the world didn't end because I spent those days chilling on my couch alone 😂.
I literally started smearing my glow recipe banana face cream on my arms to smell like banana at night. I never thought there would be a banana perfume.
@@DCSquirrelcan I ask if you’re using a skin filter or what exactly you’re using for your skin? Your skin especially on your body/neck etc looks so perfect that it looks unreal because it looks so airbrushed. I’d truly appreciate an honest response & sharing your ‘secret’ (whether it’s a certain filter or a certain skin product🙂) thank you so much in advance 🙏

Been sober since June!! You’re not alone. I didn’t have an issue with alcohol but I found myself looking forward to the weekend for the drinking, not something I liked in myself. It’s possible to be sober without being an alcoholic. You’re amazing for sharing your sobriety 🎉❤🎉❤🎉

New here but thank you for your honesty about giving up alcohol what a healthy choice. The holidays can be so hard in general with everyone celebrating and if you are dealing with anything it can be isolating....thus a quick spritz boosts the mood too❤

The Skylar rollerballs are super easy to take off and then decant into an atomizer! I do that for the scent of the month rollerballs - their newest one Caramel Alps is soooo good!
Where do you get your atomizers? Also, did you like sweet morningside?
@@kamm5280 I buy them off Amazon! They’re pretty cheap. I think I skipped sweet morningside! I only get it shipped when a fragrances notes speak to me.

I feel the same way about rollerballs, I've always worried about the unhygienic aspect of direct skin contact. I'm glad to be validated about that! And I want to experience it by spraying it all over and on my clothes or it just won't last. The worst offender is the Aesop Marrakech roller.
Love a good declutter to enter the new year!! I like the 5sens perfumes a lot - I think they're a good brand overall for beginners, as is Skylar. Maybe not for a perfume lover or someone with a large collection.

I also have been going sober from everything lately for a few reasons and it was stressful since I was anticipating uncomfortable questions from family members who drink, and I didn't want to have to explain myself. You shouldn't HAVE to explain yourself, just making a healthy choice to remove things from your life, for as long as you choose, because there's some kind of weird pressure and expectation from others. I made a point to pick myself up some non-alcoholic goodies so I could "drink" alongside my family (non-abv ginger beer comes in many delicious forms these days) and it helped me feel involved without compromising my choices. And it also seemed to keep people off my back. This internet stranger is proud of you for keeping to your personal choices. Solidarity!

I stopped drinking at the end of June in 2023. I had a lot of health issues. I almost immediately fealt better but oh man, these holidays were hard.

Olivia, I just smell Luminous from a coworker, and that smells exactly like Royal Secret is very old 😂. Like you said, it last, my coworker was wearing the body mist, and it lasted all day. ❤
Such a good video! I feel you on the need to declutter and why. There have been a couple I've given away to friends that I've missed after, but when you see that they like it, you don't miss it anymore.

Congrats on decision! A few of my friends are doing the same for their health. They find that what helps is making mocktails so they can still hang out and have something to drink, but it’s not alcoholic.
I’m actually grabbing a few small bottles of things so far this year to have better variety, since I have a very small collection right now!
I made the decision to quit drinking abt a year and a half ago. Since I quit, I have realized how much alcohol is engrained into our society and how making the decision to not drink is such a taboo thing. The looks I get when I say I don't drink. Almost a pity look like somehow I am automatically a raging alcoholic in their minds. Ya know cause clearly only alcoholics would ever make the decision not to drink.🙄 Or I get the "awww come on, it's just one drink! Don't be a party pooper!" Ughhhhh I just don't wanna drink. It's annoying. Anyways for whatever reason you have decided to quit, I stand w you! Hope things get better! Much love ❤️

E sober is so worth it. If you haven’t read this naked mind, do it. Very short but effective. Five years sober for me and not regretted it a single day, and the book helped me flip how I think about alcohol.
Yes! I was going to suggest that book too, I think everyone should read it. 2 1/2 years for me and the best decision I’ve ever made for myself, waking up feeling great never gets old 💯

I was so happy to try a clean vanilla fragrance (Skylar) but it gave me warm vanilla sugar from Bath and Body Works vibes

I got Milk + during the sephora sale after wanting it for so long and blind bought it. It should have been something i loved due to the notes but it made me ill, needless to say it's posed and ready to return. Maybe Milk is more my speed. I'll stick with By the Fireplace I guess.

Incidentally, I've always been fascinated just how quickly an unpleasant scent can turn into a churning stomach. 🤢 Almost as if the body wants the air out asap. 😆 The simple solution was not to breathe, but I can't seem to get that one down either. 😂 One day!
I like to pour dabbler/roller bottles into travel sprays, if you do like the fragrance, that is!

I hate dabbers too, I got the AG set and didn’t realize until I got it. But I poured all of them out into some retractable glass travel containers I got from amazon. Turns out each dabber bottle has nearly a full size travel spray amount in each! So I definitely got my moneys worth
