  • Russian cosmonauts used the STRELA chronograph in space. To be precise, they used it in “Cosmos”. With our collection we honor these courageous women and men of space exploration. Poljot on amazon:

    1:36 Strela means " Arrow " ... Poljot means " Flight " ... Strela watches had manual winding calibre 3017 based on Swiss calibre Venus 150 (Breitling)
    Strela chronographs were issued to cosmonauts 1964 onwards... Poljot 3133 in the 1970s Salyut-6 and Salyut-7 space station era #MoonwatchUniverse

  • @phmwu7368
    @phmwu7368 Před 5 lety +5

    Voskhod 2 cosmonauts Leonov and Beyayev wore a white dial "Strela" caliber 3017... underneath their Berkut spacesuit.
    Hint: also try to go for Russian text dial watches, " 19 Jewels " text was for export...

    I had virtually this exact watch as a schoolboy in the 70s. They were made by sekonda not sure what movement they used. As l recall they weren't expensive watches by any means, in fact quite cheap. The lume was terrible on mine.

    Very nice watch. Just so you are aware the column wheel vs cam i just the engagement method. The important thing would be to have a vertical clutch instead of horizontal engagement. Having said this I have never seen a cam engaged vertical clutch but this watch's movement and the subsequent movement don't have one anyway.

    I´m looking for a Poljot Strela 42mm (CO42CYB ). I read that Poljot isn´t exsisting anymore since 2011. Are the "new" Strelas "new" or are they just old ones which are sold as new because they are never used cuz they were laying in the warehouse? Do you know sth about that? Thank you :)

    • @laughingman8578
      @laughingman8578 Před rokem +1

      I got the following information from the 'Poljot' Wikipedia page:
      The physical remnants of First Moscow Watch Factory were purchased by a group of former Poljot employees, forming the basis for a new company, Volmax. Volmax marketed watches under the Aviator, Buran and Sturmanskie brands using movements produced by another Russian firm, MakTime. MakTime, the company utilizing old Poljot equipment to manufacture mechanical movements, went bankrupt and Volmax, the successor company to First Moscow Watch Factory relocated to Switzerland. Present models from the Volmax company are Swiss-made, using design cues from vintage Russian models.

    • @laughingman8578
      @laughingman8578 Před rokem +1

      So, the the current Chronograph STRELA Poljot is made by Volmax. It looks exactly like the original one except for the following upgrades:
      1. It has a sapphire glass;
      2. It has a date indicator at 6 o'clock;
      3. Water resistance is now 5ATM instead of 3ATM;
      4. It uses the Poljot caliber 3133 with 23 jewels; and
      5. The case is made of stainless steel rather than chrome plated brass.
      It costs around US$700.00. The original ones, in good condition, can cost north of US$1,000.00.

    Sadly, modern jewelers want you to buy disposable Asian crap instead of working on these marvels of time (no pun). I'd order many online spare parts for these beauties & have them ready for jewelers maintenance visits.
