Nothing will beat the 90's era of Radio 1! Essential mix and dance anthems will always stay in my memory. These guys were legends. Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Dave Pearce
when you listen to radio 1 of today you just wouldn't think it used to be this good back in the 90s and early 2000s. I feel so grateful to have lived through this time.
This is great. I used to download mixes on Kazaa. Wished at the time that we had R1 in the states. Growing up in the suburbs my twin sister and I used to go to the underground parties in the city to hear the music. Our friends in the burbs did not understand our obsession with the music. I can't really listen to any of the new music. There was so much soul in this.
I was an old arse . And I was occasionally blown away by him and Tong My most loathed "sell out DJ wankers"... Yet when they hit me at a club... Fuxk ME.. I was NEVERREADY! Best of 3 DJ
Oh my gosh I remember recording this on radio 1 live in May 2000! This Dave Pearce set was 1 hour! 9pm till 10pm! Radio 1 did a 14 hour live broadcast of this!! Special times of Radio one! I was 14 years old at home recording it on tape while my older sister was there which she got tickets for by mistake from Pete Tong!! She came home on Sunday drenched in mud!!! 😆😆😆
Exactly the same as you, sat there at a similar age recording the Friday night live shows, I still have the tapes from dance anthems and Judge Jules live Friday club night shows although they haven't aged well. Unfortunately I don't think there will be anything quite like it again.
Just same, but don't have a sister :P Far away in Poland, in small town, where BBC Radio 1 was put for few years in cable tv pack, I found it by accident in october '99 and till then started to record as many friday and saturday broadcast, as I could. Dreamed to be there just for one night, feel the crowd, music, wet ground and dance myself to death..
@@CrispiJones o mate wish you were there with us we was dancing in the streets of glasgow the whole city had large parties everywhere . You were there in spirit with us love from the old skool
Dave Pearce saved my life Had my kids for the weekend proper dad. They would cry when i drove them back 😂 back in my studio flat dave Pearce and 4 supers and a teenth happy days 💙
Folk used to slate Dave Pearce for his Dance Anthems show on Sunday nights saying he played cheesy stuff but get him behind the decks away from the studio he was a great DJ saw him play a fantastic set at the Dance Anthems roadshow at Don Valley Bowl in Sheffield with Jude Jules and Mario Picotto and all for the princely sum of nowt👍👌
Ha 100%! Who remembers this and Dance Anthems on Radio 1? Or Steppin Out on Radio Fourth, you’d never get anything like that on the mainstream radio channels now.
What the hell would I have done if there was no BBC Radio 1 in the UK up until 2005/2006 I don't know. Can't wait to dig out my old cassettes and minidiscs of shows I recorded, looking back I should have done it more often not knowing how valuable they would be to me now.
9:57to12:05 totally reminds me the fast and furious 1 race wars seen let alone the hole movie series is what got me into E.C.M- electronically composed music because like all the movies comming out at that time including - fast and furious, blade, the matrix, and many others that came out when I was growing up back then. I would have turned 12 5 months before this aired live.
O shit! After so many years found that mix on YT by accident! I was looking for 6: mook - in the mind of madness from that hot may afternoon after recording it on tape till now! That's hell best sunday in this year!
Stick Ushuaia and all your phone waving wanky cheese of today…this is where it’s at! Radio 1 is a pile of wank today aswell, but back then weekends were banging with the likes of Creamfields, Essential Mix, Jules live sets around the country. Nothing of today will ever beat it!
Radio one was front runners back in the day. Dave Pearce, pete tong, judge Jules, fabio and grooverider, tim Westwood. What a pile of shit it has become! 🙈
I listened all day sometimes more or less. Radio on at work in the day then at night on at home for the tunes. There was a golden age where it was seamless and everyone was on the same page. Mark and Lard were brilliant in the day, Jo Whiley, shit even Simon Mayo contributed but he was tail ending it I think. Then as you mentioned the night shift would come in. Spent many a night in various states with various mates listening to them all! Great days. Last time I put radio 1 on I switched it over to something else, proper w@nk 👎
Alex Heale i found a cracking tunes from around that time: Havana - ethnic prayer - euro mix Sil - windows - original mix T-zand - sounds of the wickedness The chant - we r - r.i.p roductions Mr.spring - voyager 1.56 - filter kings mix Tgr - just gets better enjoy buddy

there is nothing like that community we had then, today - you're 100% correct...
