Great piece of information, I would like something in the AS5601 to be reworded as there is a conflict, if you go to 9.37 second on your slide the issues is that the valves are install wrong, if you go to AS5601:2013 amd 4 4.8.2 (c) valves need to be installed fall to off but if you read AS5601:2013 amd4 4.8.2 (b) this tell you a different way, Thanks Dave.

Why do standards have DRM installed by default? This doesn't work on Linux and should be rectified immediately, how am I a Linux user unable to view downloaded standards????
The only option is to use a security risk adobe application that's never been updated in several years. This concerns me how I teach. Please rectify it.

      HI Trev
Unfortunately ESV does not have control or management over the publication of Standards.
You will need to raise your concerns with the organisation through which you tried to purchase the Standard.
Sorry we can't help with this one.

Why the hell isn’t there a phone app to be able to view these amendments/new standards alongside the actual regulations. Like just for the search functionality alone?

I had a new Gas connection installed in a new build in April 2023 Does the new or old standard apply for emergency shut off valves? Builder says old standard as building permit was issued in Mid 2022. I thought it would go by the install date?

Do you have a list or more information of the specific types of valves/regs required for both Class 1a and building-specific requirements?, Even an example of a brand and model numbers?

      Hi Andrew,
ESV is an independent regulator and can’t provide specific makes/models as this may be seen to be favouring or recommending a product.
The new requirements will allow for several different controls to be installed to provide isolation for Class1a buildings with piping volume less than 30L; excess flow valves, UPSOs or automatic valves (solenoids) where they can be connected to smoke alarm or other fire systems.

Do all the components fitted on a pressure proving system have to be approved, by aga or another test body?

When does this standard come into place? It doesn't appear available for purchase as yet.

Hi Bobbie. Thanks for your question. These new regs are expected to be published anytime now. This is not within our control - it is a process overseen by Standards Australia. We'll publish a notification on our website and to our Gasfitter stakeholders when these regs are published. Cheers, ESV.

Can't view the standard even though I downloaded it. Screw DRM!

Standards cannot be downloaded without paying $500
