Food is our thighest connection to earth,family,memories...Sorry for you Bright Star(for me you deserve capital B and S).In my personnal cookbook cambodian recipes will thus get a special "BS" label to honour you and your country though it does change nothing of your loss.Nam myoho renge kyo 🙏.Loves from Brussels!❣️🐈⬛👵.
I've been fortunate enough to learn many of these dishes from my Mother in law who is Cambodian. I've always enjoyed cooking so this is our way to connect. Prahok is an acquired taste but once you get passed the smell it is addicting, especially when you grill it prior to dipping. A lot of work goes into Khmer food but it is very worth it!
Forgot other Cambodian food such as Nom som, Kho-beef stew with bamboo shoots and egg. Sa Kinyay - chicken dish with lots of ginger, Sngaw Trei - Fish soup, Numpang Pate - a French inspired baguette with pork and vegetables as filling, Boboh Pek - curry vegetable soup with snails, different kinds of Trei-ngeat, kro lan - sticky rice and black bean snack, Cambodian barbeque and a lot more. Cambodian cuisine is one of the undiscovered food hub in indochina.
Lok Luk, BBQ Pork on Rice 👍 Another one to consider is Kaw - a beautiful stew with either beef, pork, chicken or fish. Usually eaten for breaky with a baguette, but equally good on a cold Melbourne winters day to warm you up!
Amok is one of the greatest things I ever tasted! A perfect example of full bodied flavor with light notes without relying on heat for oomph! Moroccan food does this well also. Tons of spices used for flavor yet no heat
That Kuy Thev is Kathew how we pronounce it. Its Cambodia's version of Pho (came out before the vietnamese popularized Pho, cambodians never get recognition. Muy Thai was also linked after cambodias Bokkator. Cambodia was the super power of south east asia at one point in time taking over Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam). People just ignore cambodia when they don't know how much of an impact cambodians did to south east Asia. Lol, i see you cambos!
Both Vietnam and Cambodia got colonized by French. French discovered Pho while French didnt discover any good food in Cambodia. Even Thailand didnt get colonized but many Westerners discovered many delicious Thai dishes too. Gover it. Most Cambodian food today is just Thai and Vietnamese food. Thats why it will never get recognized, because its just the same with worlds popular cuisines ie Thai and Vietnamese. Rip 😂
Kuytev is Chinese food, Beef lok lak is Vietnamese food (Bò lúc lắc)... Cambodian blame Vietnamese steal their cuisine but Vietnamese did no those jobs
What is your favourite Cambodian dish? Any recipes to add to this list...
Somlor korko ; mju krerng
fried rats

Love my Khmer traditional dishes. It's all very healthy and good nutritions. Miss my country and food.

Man you really succeeded at butchering the pronunciation.
Which one is your favorite? I have never had the privilege of trying cambodian food
Thankyou for your compliment, I think 🤔
do not say kuy teav they say as ka tew
Kuh thieww is more like it. It needs to be spelled phonetically how its pronounced.

That "pole balancing on shoulders" is called a "Yoke" in English lol
Don't show the pretty girl's face, then have the voice of a male khmer rouge killer.
"Khmer" is pronounce "khmai" by the way
Kuytev is Chinese food, Beef lok lak is Vietnamese food (Bò lúc lắc)... Cambodian blame Vietnamese steal their cuisine but Vietnamese did no those jobs
