  • a little bit of pre-war O gauge Lionel running on the floor under the Christmas tree.
locomotives featured r a gray 249E from the early 1930s and a gray 265E Commodore Vanderbilt from the mid-30s. all Rolling Stock is original Lionel with no reproductions at this moment.
track I used this time is MTH Railtrax which I have discovered is not very suitable for pre-war locomotives. Especially the turnouts. the lead and trailing Wheels on the prewar locomotives and some of the Rolling Stock are a bit thicker and have deeper flanges then post-war forward trains. this causes them to short out against the points. I found painting the points with clear nail polish solves the issue temporarily but it does wear off and the sparking returns. I am acquiring lots of traditional Lionel track and pre-war and post-war turnouts. They handle the old trains with no problems. also present in the video but not shown running are a couple post-war Lionel locomotives and a Modern m-th Diesel switcher as well as a mixture of post-war and modern Lionel, MTH, K-Line, and Menards Rolling Stock. I very much enjoy the modern stuff but I am primarily interested in collecting pre-war and post-war.
Next year I plan on setting up some of my standard gauge.
The Christmas tree is 60 years old, a family heirloom. with traditional real C7 bulbs, a mixture of ornaments and vintage Garland.
