That's what Mr. Tiwari is hinting at with the logic that sectoral indices are very skewed towards large cappers. For instance, the Nifty Financial Services Index .. 55% of weight is with HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. His arguments is the BFSI space is very large and there are poorly-index-represented stocks that can deliver a lot more in returns With re: the term "most companies won't scale or survive", I think he meant some companies will move aside and others will take it's place. It's like the Nifty 50. Of the original Nifty 50 companies, only 12 or 13 are still operational today. Other companies like Ponds, Essar Gujarat, SCICI aren't there or have been merged. But Nifty did not die -- new companies replaced these companies and the same will happen 20 years from now.
Hello sir, is it possible to see meltdown like situations that happened in Japan and now in China to occur in Indian equity markets? Japanese market has not gone anywhere since 1990s and in China we hear the breakdown of the equity mutual funds.
I want to ask one thing i didn't understand that point about active and passive thing does he mean to say instead of direct we should choose active one for bfsi mutual fund ?
I think by the word "direct", you actually mean index. Assuming that, yes! Mr. Tiwari is supporting active fund management for BFSI sectoral investment rather than index funds. The primary reason is the lop-sided nature of indices here where HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank take up a bulk of the index weight. He contends the opportunities to make money in this sector are elsewhere. Maybe he means that one can look at insurance, small finance banks, registrars, fintechs, AMC business, NBFC etc.
Person who should give interviews is taking interviews, what can be better? Just a little suggestion, please improve the mics and audio settings, it needs improvement!

Shankar - you sound so similar to the film critic Rajeev Masand - so cool calm composed & a treat to listen to! Only difference is that you don't roast bad financial products as much as Rajeev Roasts bad movies
