So interesting Daniel. I know your very focused on insomnia and you understand it better than anyone I know but your right about coaching being a better option for many overweight people, smokers and substance abusers rather than following the traditional healthcare channels. I’ve been to doctors and diagnosed with depression, GAD, insomnia, IBS, and all manner of other things. I’ve been prescribed sleeping pills, benzodiazepines, digestive medication, muscle relaxants, CBD and THC products but nothing has been better than the education on this channel as well as all the people that contribute. I started applying this channels teaching only to my sleeping issue but now apply it to most similar issues, I sleep better, no longer compulsively over eat, no longer compulsively over think and lead a happier existence thanks to this channel and the online community of coaches it has helped me to discover. Thank you so much for pursuing this line of work.

Whoa Daniel, I am at a loss for words. Not many ppl are that brave to part with their profession, esp regarding the pay and the prestige. But I am so glad you start this channel and the community that organically formed is so supportive of each other. When I am in a speed bump, I revisit your videos, read comments, and I always find comfort/hope/strength from there. In this journey, your videos are like resting points or like a lighthouse, pointing us to the right direction.

Finally, the most awaited episode by the community! Wow, what an amazing journey, Daniel. It seems that from the beginning the world turned in your (and our) favor for the Sleep Coach School to exist. 🙏🏻 And I didn't know you were Swedish, how amazing! haha
And it makes perfect sense to have dropped out of medical school. As you have said several times here, doctors are not the best trained to deal with internal and psychological problems. And they are the first professionals that the population usually looks for. To give you an idea, I did years of psychoanalysis to understand my internal problems, but when I treated insomnia in the sessions, the psychoanalyst didn't really know what to say, or what to ask. And she herself admitted that psychoanalysis didn't have much literature about it during its 100 years, and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that psychoanalysis was born from medicine. If a professional who listens to you for 50 minutes a week cannot understand, imagine a doctor who sees you for 5 minutes a month and who has an obligation to give you medication? They will never understand.
That's why this channel and your work, Daniel, is a revolution in my life. No professional in the world has helped me as much as you. I can't imagine how I would be if I didn't have your work to help me. People are surprised when I say that I have never taken medication. And I always mention you! Thank you, I will always thank you.

I think it is truly heartbreaking that someone you practiced medicine like you do was not tolerated by the system. What produced this great philosophy that has already helped so many people was the humility to listen to your patients and the curiousity to truly learn from their struggle and understand it in order to serve them well. And I think I speak for all of my fellow chronic illness warriors when I say that we need more of this also in tradtitional medicine. Our pain is routinely written off, we are not believed and given treatments that do not serve us because we are not listened to. So even if the future of medicine is to treat purely physical ailments it needs to change fundamentally.

Love your story Daniel! You’re a revolutionary.
Recently I went to a psychiatrist for help with insomnia cause someone told me she was holistic and could help. Couldn’t be further from the truth! First she had no empathy… She gave me an antidepressant and I said but I’m not depressed.. There’s this kind of assumption that a person with insomnia is depressed and anxious. Which isn’t usually true.
I’m a health professional, and i understood that there were holes in my education and that I would be learning and evolving forever! We all need the humility, wisdom and hunger for finding solutions that is expressed in the teachings of Daniel. Thank you so so much ❤️

And you know, I see it just like this… often we humans just try too kind of dismiss things we don’t understand… but when our work is to help others, even if we don’t understand, we can be kind and at least listen… but yes, had she been educated, things would have been so different. One day, one day I hope everything we talk about here will have become the mainstream. And with the amazing community here, I believe it can happen.

Bless you! I have learned so much from your channel. After listening to Sasha Stephens on your show #39, I was stunned by how much I needed this. I have lived around and with Doctors all my life- brother-in laws were plastic and hand surgeons. Close friend was head of a dept at UNC med, etc. I had a partially successful ablation for a-flutter...followed by anxiety, with prescription for benzo ativan ...found myself addicted and insomniac after several weeks. Nightmare getting off this drug. More anxiety and despair. Eventually much better after another ablation. In short, I have been through the mill over the past 3 years. When you add covid pandemic fear and anxiety. Bad sleep became chronic. I created my own monster of fear and anxiety. Your insights about the paradoxical nature of the real help are invaluable. Keep up the great work. Our medical system based on fee for service and corporate interests is a gigantic mess. It will collapse under the weight of costs. Hopefully many caring doctors like you will prevail...patients first. Would like to hear a program about people with anxiety over health issues....arrhythmia, cancer, etc. Thank you!!!

It is comforting to hear your path into medicine was very similar to my own. I'm a fourth year medical student in the US about to graduate and match into internal medicine. Was never the best student or best exam taker, but enjoy learning and helping others be better versions of themselves. After suffering from debilitating insomnia your channel along with Martin Reed helped me sleep better again, and I've made it a point to council every patient I've seen with sleep issues implement CBTI or research it. I too am worried about the future of medicine, but I'm hopeful clinicians can change it for the better. I believe sleep medicine is still a relatively new frontier and hope we can do better by our patients in the future.

Thank you for sharing and the transparency. I’ve been following you less than a month, Just got on page 95 of Set it and Forget and can honestly say you have helped me more in a month than any “Doctor” but in my 6 year struggle. Brief background, I’ve taken a CBT-I class that left me hopeless and discouraged and my doctor recommended melatonin that worked occasionally. Another offered Xanax and I refused.
While I’m still in the Yo-Yo phase I finally feel empowered. Hearing your story I no longer will think of you as a Sleep Coach but a Sleep Angel. I slept 7 hours last night, so I know it’s working.
On a side note, is there a typo page 89?
