    People don't seem to understand that Lecrae raps in metaphors, almost all of his songs, if not directly stating that is about God have metaphors that are about God.

      Yeah he says that at the beginning so it doesn't sound weird to others to make it sound normal. And then when people get interested, it reveals the song is actually about God

      Rene Mauricio Bermudez God doesn't want us to be Believers who water down everything with God and Jesus. That can get boring for some people. People need relatable things to reach them. Some people can't relate to God completely like we can. Sometimes they need real life things mentioned

    He's trying to reach out for people and not just sing songs about getting saved and living right. He wants to sing about marriage, relalatonships and other things. In doing that he opens new doors and is able to influence more people

  • @TheDemari
    @TheDemari Před 9 lety +66

    In case you all forgot, Lercre is not a christian rapper. He is a rapper who is Christian. And he's made that very clear. So if you're getting butt hurt because he wasn't rapping about God in this specific song, you can go ahead and stop talking, because he is not obligated to do so. That's like saying Actors who are christian should only do Christian movies. Or writers who are Christian should only write Christian books. It's just ridiculous.

    • @astrcnaut
      @astrcnaut Před 9 lety +7

      Of course he doesn't need to sing about only Jesus. But a lot of his songs are kind of lowkey about it. Just so it appeals to everyone so he makes it sound as modern as possible which I enjoy a lot more than only rapping about Jesus

    • @TheDemari
      @TheDemari Před 9 lety +14

      Agreed. There are times that he does truly worship Christ Like in, Lucky ones, or Tell the World, or Background, but mostly his music is meant to give people hope or even just give families with kids and adults a chance to turn up to good rap music without hearing about sex, drugs, or violence.

    Its a song that does not need to be analyzed from a biblical perspective. I can identify with what he is talking about because I relate the same feelings for my wife. Lecrae is doing things for the kingdom that most christians will never be able to do because of their lack of fear and lack of trust in god. So easier to criticize his walk and look at his simple mistakes and be quick to say I knew it hes a sinner..person of this world.. sometimes christians need to remember we are not perfect but forgiven. I had been trying to witness to someone for years but could not convert him to change his ways. Gave him a lecrae album and he was shortly saved after that and has been inspired to win souls for jesus. That is the POWER of god through the music of lecrae. God bless lecrae and KEEP REACHING.

    I think that he should sing about Jesus.
    Because all we need is Jesus. It doesn't matter if we have a wife, because if we
    don't have Jesus, we won't have anything.
    Jesus should be in the center of attention.
    Not friends, not family, not business or
    anything. Put Jesus first and he will give
    you what you need. Jesus bless whoever
    reads this.

    It really make me upset to read people's comments saying he should make a song for his wife but only ones for Jesus, the Lord created marriages and even through worshiping the Lord together to a good righteous relationship, a couple must also show appreciation to each other. Just because he's a "Christian Rapper" (when really he should be labeled as a rapper who is Christian) should be obligated to only producing song only about God, now of course all the songs should have Christian values in it but they should have the choice to make songs they like, such as this one; a husband writing a song to his wife showing how much he appreciates her, their even songs like like 'Heavy Hand' by social club, a Christian rap duo who wrote this song about crazy fan/obsessive people, So don't be so uptight about what music he writes it's just as bad as you saying he can't do so means that any song that doesn't promote godly values is unrighteousness, thus making you quite the Hippocrates.

  • @danielwilliams6380
    @danielwilliams6380 Před 8 lety +23

    If a song directly or indirectly references God is of little import, the main thing is does it Glorify Him? That can be done by making songs regarding marriage (God instituted), or the "trials" we ALL face. There are Christian songs about dealing with depression, loss, grief,sadness and they do not necessarily outright say God but they do mention aspects that are only found in God. Name a secular person who would love you unconditionally,even if you were broke,not attractive, and had a disorder? Besides family. God and His family, us the church, do. We KNOW we are not perfect but we ARE forgiven and we show love by forgiving others and accepting them as they are. All I Need is You IS Godly, even if he is singing about his wife, which, I am 99.99% sure he is NOT, because ALL we need is God, not even spouses are important as God.

    Whether if this song is about his wife or Jesus directly. What i know is that people in the world perceive it as a song about significant others. It's why it's nomimated for that award, it's for its generality it's not specified to God. If you ask me why couldn't Praying for You be nomimated now that is a beautiful song because its directed God asking him for his guidance amd help through temptations of the world. This song is not my favorite because it can be taken/percieved in many other ways. Especially in a secular way. Really you think GMA would have wanted him on the show if he was talking directly about God, they would face so much backlash from Athiests and others in a major way.

      Hoity Toity Whats wrong with making 1 song about him only needing his wife, and only her, no other women? Especially when having a side chick is a VERY common thing being talked about in rap right now. He never said he's placing her above God. Just simply a song to his wife that he doesn't need any other women. It's beautiful man.

    • @ArtificialIntelNat
      @ArtificialIntelNat Před 9 lety +2

      Is he making gospel rap or love songs? If I ask because as a gospel rapper I fail to see where God is acknowledged at all in his song. Worldly artist produce love songs all the time about their girl setting them right but what sets him apart from them especially when he openly collaborates with them? Listen I'm no one to judge but WE'RE ALL, you, me , the next guy or girl, we're all supposed to ask these questions and put them into perspective because its says in the word many false prophets will rise and deceive many and many will come to "tickle" your ears so I would just encourage all to be vigilant because the world loves their own but they hate us that have Him in us. And I don't know if you noticed but aside from what he says in his songs the world seems to be giving him a lot of love. We see the outside, hear what they say, hear what they talk about, how they look, what they wear, but God knows our heart and He knows us by our works and if we make songs about His truth and live a different life then you can know very well that He knows where our heart truly lies . I like a lot of his music but still if truth is in jeopardy and something seems sketchy to you would you stay quiet?

      Brent Mena An apostle of Christ once judged a prostitute for breaking a jar of perfume on his feet, saying the money used for the perfume could have been used to feed the poor. Jesus said there will always be poor people to feed. This dude made so many albums praising God and he's been on so many pulpits preaching the word of God and spreading the good news not to mention the times the cameras were off of him. And we hear one song about him loving his wife and we're like "oh this dude be slipping". The Bible is full of life and the good word and even in it you could find a man of God professing his love for a woman e.g. psalms and the songs of solomon. As Christians we need to understand the times and know what to do appropriately. We should not let the spirit of religiosity corrupt our relationship with God. God Bless you my brother, God Bless your music and your life :) I love you.

    • @andrewd.584

      Brent Mena he made the song for his wife. it's about being faithful. and god put his wife in his wife. Marriage is a perfect union by god. what's the big deal? he said himself he's not a "Christian rapper." He's a rapper who is a christian, and his faith will naturally be visible in his lyrics. You can make a song for your wife and still be a christian artist... seriously. use your head

  • @fulanodetal3614
    @fulanodetal3614 Před 7 lety

    We are living in a culture where people don't just assume the basic principles of Christianity. We MUST reimpliment them before we start fishing with rifles and AK's. Life just doesn't work that way. Believing in God doesn't grant you otherworldly powers or rights over other people. You must still fear for your life, if you fear the Lord. The difference between you and the world is that you will be blessing the world and your God to your deathbed. In the Book of Job, you can see just how easily God gives and takes away. Being better or worse doesn't guarantee you the world. The Pharisees of Jesus' time believed that as long as they put God in everything, they earned their power and respect, but God doesn't work that way. God's a bit too busy dealing with the infinite complexity of the world to make you the center of the universe. Know that God is wise and just, and know that what you have is a blessing. That's all you need. Lecrae seems to understand just that.

      abel ngaliema I agree and I don't say this as if I'm happy about it, because believe me I'm not. Sadly, a lot of mainstream Christian artists seem to get sucked into the world and it seems that the same thing has happened to Lecrae. Read Matthew 4 when Satan "offers" Jesus the kingdoms in the land, he was saying that if you follow the ways of the world (which means YOURE FOLLOWING SATAN) then you get to be famous and successful and stuff like that. It's a total shame how nowadays Christians are watering down The Message to satisfy everyone. We are NOT to satisfy people, we are to spread the gospel.

I mean if he walked up to a national tv show and just immediately talked about Jesus and how all need him... is he wrong... no, but how many are turned off from the gospel from people telling them they're wrong and sinners... many. a new graceful approach must be taken to reach the lost and show them why we need God and why we are broken sinners. silly to me when people wanna tear this man down when it's clear from this video and song he was pointing back to Jesus.

Lecrae who is one of the biggest Christian artists of our generation is a rap artist and has done more for spreading the word of God than anyone gospel singer. Don't be so convinced that you have to be old fashioned to be for God. ABitInsane there's straight up Christian singing songs that I've heard they're singing about God, but don't mention His name. What's the problem with that?

      AndiNicole Official I mean, why wouldn't you at least mention His name?

      Right? I wouldn't have minded at all if he kept it obscure, but he kept saying "somebody you love" and "you, girl" just to make it clear it wasn't about God... even though I definitely interpreted the lyrics that way, and believe they were supposed to have that meaning or that double meaning

      Katherine are you serious right now? What’s wrong with you, he’s repping Christ %100 in this song

      Just because he doesn’t say “Jesus” every line doesn’t mean that he’s not a Christian and doesn’t make Christian music anymore. It also seems like a lot of people nowdays don’t realize that it’s not all about Jesus, it’s about God too.
