  • Another day at the coast, searching for silver.
Just a few glimpses from coastal fishing, some coffee and Baltic Sea waves. Well, and some seatrout action as well.

HI Nicka, great video actually. Wondering about your setup, would you mind telling which gears you are using? Very few are using casting tool for seatrout fishing. What is your opinion about casting gear instead of spinning one? Thanks!

HI. Thank you for your comment. Actually I use both spinning and casting set ups. Most of the time I prefer fishing with a casting reel - like this, the low profile Abu Garcia Revo Rocket (high speed). The main reason is the overall feeling I get from a casting reel, compared to spinning reels. Every little bite, or touch is obvious when fishing with casting reels, I think. The fighting brake is smoother and firmer, no loose line in windy conditions etcetera. But, when fishing with lighter lures or too tough (windy) conditions there are advantages with spinning reels as well. As seen in this short film I use the Revo Rocket on a 10 ft Abu Garcia Victis (casting weight up to 32 grams I believe) and 0,17 mm Berkley X9 Braid. If I'm using line-through-/inline-baits I use a fluorocarbon leader (approx 0,35 mm), otherwise I just tie the braid directly to a crosslock. All the best. /Nicka

@@nickahellenberg wow great for the elaborate explanation. Thanks a lot! 😊
Your setup sounds really exciting 🙂. Have been using spinning gear and recently though about casting setup therefore when I saw your film got excited 😊
You do not use any fluorocarbon trace when using normal lures? Sounds good since when you want to change to line thru then comes a bit of hassel... thanks again 😊

@@spandankeshav - I never use any trace or leader When fishing for seatrout with ordinary baits. The only reason I use it with inline lures is because the bait glides better on fluorocarbon (or mono). This line doesn’t wear down too easy either.
But in general I want to Keep Everything as simple as possible.
      Cheers! 🎣

Great video, wish it was longer. I usually fish for sea bass with lures in the u.k. Having seen large numbers of sea trout while fishing for them I'm going to have a real go for them this year starting tomorrow 9th January. Thanks for the tips! I noticed your lure is bright pink in the vid, is this a go to winter colour for you?

I might do some longer videos, whenever there’s time. :)
I usually don’t care that much about colours. But Sometimes I prefer sharp colours when lights are a bit low, as in winter time.
      Tight lines! 🎣
