    Wai-Kru (ใหว้ ครู)
    Wai = pay respect
    Kru = teacher
    -Thai people believe that those who are grateful to their parents and teachers will be prosperous.
    -And another advantage of Wai Kru is Warming up before a fight.

    If there's anything that Tony Jaa and kung fu movies from the 70s taught me, it's that the respectful guy who bows and smiles to you is the best at kicking your ass

      This isn’t a “kata”. There are many versions depending on the fighter’s teacher but this isn’t like Karate.

    • @leejames3812
      @leejames3812 Před 3 lety

      There are two sections, the first (Wai Kru) is dedicated to your trainer, parents, and the Buddha your higher power higher power. The second section is the ram muay ( “fight dance”). Both sections serve to prepare the fighter physically, mentally, and spiritually. Each camp, school or lineage has different elements to the series. If you are going to learn from a love if the culture, it would be best to learn it from a Kru or Ajaarn who KNOWS what the movements mean. A movement where you are performing as Rama has a different energy from Garuda (Garute) or Hanuman. Good luck!

    *Some facts about Kru Muay Association* The Kru Muay Association originated from the separation of the amateur Muay Thai from the professional Muay Thai. This division pursued the goal to have Muay Thai recognized as an Olympic discipline by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). A project that has not been successful until today. The officials of professional Muay Thai would like to have nothing to do with Kru Muay. For them this club is only a necessary evil. If you take a closer look, you will notice that all the so-called traditional teachers of the Kru Muay Thai Association have simply appointed each other as teachers and are now worshipped by wealthy foreigners once a year. The whole association is very political, but has less fighting competence than an average boxer in Rajadamnern Stadium or a Buakauw (who is a Cambodian and not a Thai by the way). Despite comprehensive state support, the Kru Muay Association still has no coherent teaching concept for traditional Muay Boran and Muay Thai is still not Olympic.
