    Really cool fact: The person singing the song in the background during the Ram/Puck Vs Roswaal fight is Rie Murakawa (VA of Ram) and the lyrics are the feelings she has towards Roswaal. This song is so perfect in all ways possible.

    They didn't deep dive into Elsa's abilities, also since they actually cut the content where they would have needed to explain it. So they left it at vampire.
    If someone is interested in it, here ya go:
    ----
    Curse Doll (ć‘Șいäșșćœą): Elsa's seeming immortality was caused from a curse that made her into a so-called "curse doll". It is a curse art which involves the user carving a curse mark that includes the information of the target they want to kill on someone, and upon activation, the person with the curse mark gains immortality, but as a cost, they lose their sense of self and can't do anything else but kill the target and they die when the target is killed. Also, there seems to be a limit to the immortality. However, there's a way to cast the curse without the person losing their sense of self, which is what happened to Elsa, though repeatedly dying turned her into a curse doll. People who become curse dolls are mistakenly referred to as vampires due to a curse doll once drinking blood in an attempt to die. In the past, she mockingly called her curse a Blessing, a term used for abilities that originate from Gusteko.
    ----
    In the webnovel, she turned into a cursed doll after being squashed by the hippo. She was crawling across the floor with her mangled body and chasing subaru while he was looking for Betty during the final look for her. She turned to ashes when Subaru opened the last door and Betty only let Subaru in. Since they cut that part out, it was not necessary to deep dive into her abilities.

    Dust Explosion is essentially when, within a confined space, small combustible particles are spread out far enough yet close to one another to allow air flow, easily catches on fire due to surface area, and ignites, which causes a chain reaction of ignition to the other dust particles. Examples are flour and wood particle explosions.
    It probably didn't work when Subaru attempted because the particles were too clumped together or had too many immflammable impurities. Or perhaps the physics of this world isn't the same.🧐

      stone-milled unrefined flour that was bagged and sold like you'd find commonly in these middle-ages settings wouldn't be fine or light enough to cause a dust explosion.
      To get a really good explosion, you'd need to be in a BIG active mill with no ventilation where the gristmills would have plenty of lightweight finely-ground flour floating around, and they've have to be producing the very highly-processed white flour only available to nobility and extremely rich people.
      Roswall doesn't strike me as the kind of person who'd buy large amounts of highly-refined white flour for everyday use in his mansion.

    Season 1 was story driven while season 2 was character study & driven by that. I do love both, to be honest i love story more but given re0 is also a horror mystery, i loved s2 more because character study had us experience everyone else to the story & develop them whole s1 developed the world more. Now we've had both, intro to the world & how it works along with the current situation, followed by the motivations, hopes, dreams & goals of the (majority of) main cast of characters.

  • @arnabbiswasalsodeep
    @arnabbiswasalsodeep Pƙed 21 dnem +5

    This ep gave me the chills when it aired. It had been years since an episode had me so excited & pumped with adrenaline that i had the jitters.
    S2 was much more greater than s1 for me, because it did so much & expanded the world so much, we had prologue before & now we got prequel with conclusion to them.
    Dust explosions are real thing, but probably dont apply to the world of re0. If it happened then even Subaru would've died. Basically the wheat dust is flammable because the ratio of fuel(wheat) to air is just enough that it burns, while the dust also being fair enough to have the fire spread. The fire causes air to heat & expand, causing an explosion from chain reaction. There are vids on it on yt, amd even goblin slayer has episode where he uses it.

    11:00 Mistake in your memory
 Fortuna said Emilia had her dad’s hair and her mom’s eyes (because their (the elf family) eyes look mean). Look at Emilia and Minerva’s eyes in the scene seconds ago. Albeit, not that I know for certain, as I’m not a light novel reader, but that’s my theory too on who Emilia’s mother is. ^_^

    • @dirtymightmusic5239
      @dirtymightmusic5239 Pƙed 21 dnem +3

      Dont worry its my theory aswell and I am a novel reader :D
      It is (at the time of season 2, not talking about any spoilers here) just the most likely candidate.
      Has to be a human
      has to be a witch
      has gentle eyes
      because of something happening was not able to care for emilia and was entrusted to fortuna
      we ignore the fact that emilia has to be 400years old eventho in the flashback in s2 which was 100years ago roughly she was a small child.
      Daphne and Typhon are basically kids so I will rule them out.
      Camilla also looks pretty damn young and she has her faceless bride in which people cannot really get close to her or they forget to breathe and die. We do not know if she can turn that off and keep "normal" relationships tho. Besides that There is 0 connection to emilia
      Sekhmet also has basically no connection to her so far, does not have gentle eyes and another fact than can be guessed already but isnt specifically stated until later rules her out aswell.
      Satella is a half elf herself so she cannot be her mother (needs to be human because her father is a full elf)
      This leaves Echidna or Minerva.
      Both work and would have points supporting it, both are shown to have a connection to Emilia and that there is more behind this. However Echidna shittalks Emilia quite a bit and that does just not look like something her mother would do and nothing was indicated that there was bad blood between the 2.
      Minerva just checks most boxes
      Has gentle eyes
      is a witch
      both Echidna and Minerva say they know Emilias mother (if its Minerva she knows herself)
      she promised not to tell emilia anything about her mother (can easily be that she promised someone else not to reveal herself, etc.)
      Minerva said Emilia is strong not like her mother. Minerva is literally the weakest fighter in the entire series since she can only heal people and not inflict damage.
      Was hinted at (although in the novels) that Minerva has a connection to elves
      clearly shows emotional behaviour in the scene with emilia here especially after emilia said that fortuna is her mother (which would ofc sting quite a bit if you are her mother but had to leave her for some reason and then your daughter says that she consideres someone else her mother)

      @@ryujin8754 he has a pretty good idea on how the story is going to end, etc. but the way towards it changed from time to time.
      He was not planning to leave lugunica but he wrote quite a few side stories about characters from vollachia and his animator obviously made illustrations for these side stories and he ended up liking the characters so much that he found it a waste to not go there and explore them more.
      also other fun facts arc 2 (the mansion part of season 1) was never planned at first. Rem also was not planned.
      But he found it weird that after arc1 with else etc that emilia would feel that bad about subaru breaking his promise in arc3 (after he emberrased her in the royal selection) so he wrote in the arc2 mansion stuff and because it would be too much work for ram alone to care for it rem was born :D
      Also Petelgeuse was the first fan art he ever recieved and because he liked the art so much and it was so close to what he was imagining he gave the fanart to his animator to base the character on so Petelgeuse is pretty much a fanart actually.

    Damn you guys are in the minority, I would say most people vastly prefer this season and thats with the lower budget on the animation. Which was due to covid and other complications. Tbh I think that adds to the sluggishness to this season and slow pace. The animation and directing is WAY less dynamic except in important scenes. They did a decent job masking it tho
 its just unfortunate cuz imo the character writing in this arc is the peak of Re Zero. Other arcs are better and come close but the pure character writing is incredibly well done here.
    That being said it does come down to liking the characters and themes. Re Zero has a major theme of love and all its forms, this season in particular looks at that especially when it comes to parental love or authority figures and self worth. Thats why almost every character has a focus on parents in some way, their self worth is valued by how they were all raised and what they took from it.
    Which is why Roswaal is such a perfect antagonist because hes antithetical to everything that represents. He doesn’t believe in self worth, he doesn’t believe in freedom of choice and self autonomy. That people are just victims to their desires.
    Beatrice being at the end makes everything comes together, all our characters felt like they were trapped. That they didn’t have a choice, that they were helpless to their situation or life. But Beatrice is the prime example of it from her being stuck in her library for 400 years due to a promise with her mother. She can’t escape, or so she thought. But she always had rhe ability to reach out. Which is why it was important that Subaru made sure it was HER CHOICE. She couldn’t just accept any help, she had to reach out for help or it meant nothing. It was playing into what Roswaal wants and believes in. Subaru did what his own dad did for him, he let Subaru make his own choices. To accept help when he would ask for it. And to not force him to fit an image rhat Subaru didn’t want, which juxtaposed with how Roswaal wanted Subaru to be just like him. Echida was the same from rhe maternal side, she was the opposite of the lesson Subarus mom taught him. Which was to smile when everything was said and done, Echidna didn’t care about the process. Just the results, which is similar to that lesson but infinitely more twisted.
    Sorry for the yap fest, just my analysis on this season and why I think its so well done. Most of that is details you can catch in the anime, although you would need multiple rewatches.

    • @BelBelle468
      @BelBelle468 Pƙed 20 dny

      Arc 4 harkens back to arc 2, where they’re stuck in a strange place and cannot escape. It adds a feeling of claustrophobia and danger of feeling like sitting ducks with Escaping impossible odds. Both of which have a miasma detector who becomes increasingly hostile.
      The thing is, I’m not sure if that’s the reason why they’re not as into s2. Arc 4 is a single arc that spans an entire season. Because of how much content they could afford to cut, they were able to squish arcs 1-3 within 25 episodes (or so). It made it appear to have movement. so what happens with arc 5 and 6? They’ll be “stuck” again. Most consider arc 6 the best re zero has, but I’ve got a feeling they’ll prefer arc 5 cuz it’s more traditional “battle shounen”.

    • @BelBelle468
      @BelBelle468 Pƙed 20 dny

      I think they might just prefer battle stuff. Since like they said in the beginning, they weren’t clicking with the characters. They showed they had some difficulty understanding certain characters, and admitted if the characters they liked had the same backstory or whatever they’d be more invested.
      They also said s1 included smaller arcs where they moved around. They enjoyed the hype moments of arcs culminating and didn’t really care for witnessing build up and exploration of things. One long arc will have more of the latter and less of the former, compared to 3 arcs squashed into 1 season. It made sense for this arc since it’s about the inability to move on, but that’s a theme they’re not super into.

  • @BelBelle468
    @BelBelle468 Pƙed 21 dnem +4

    Regarding the discussion in the beginning, I don’t think it’s necessarily about clicking with a character or not.
