- One day after Israel's incursion into Rafah, the operation is straining relations between the White House and Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained why Israel’s war cabinet decided to enter Rafah and seize the Philadelphi Corridor yesterday, calling it “a very important step on the way to destroying the remaining military capabilities of Hamas, including the elimination of the four terrorist battalions in Rafah.” He emphasized the campaign will damage Hamas’s governmental capabilities.
Reports indicate that a private U.S. company will take over operations at the strategic Rafah border crossing, although the White House has objected to the Rafah operation for months.

Rafah is a place of an estimated 1.5 million refugees encouraged by Israel at the height of the Israeli Gaza war to stay thereat for reasons of safety. It is defenseless and an easy meat for Israel. Why would Israel decided to invade Rafah? Aside from being an easy meat, the strategy is to control (choke off) the Rafah Crossing on the Palestine side. It is an ingress and egress for Gaza. Netanyahu which now has absolute control of the Rafah Crossing (Palestine side), may constrain, subject to his whims and caprices, all aid packages including and more important, food aid packages into Gaza. He may induce more severe Netanyahu-caused famine in Gaza by not allowing, completely, food aid packages to Gaza passing thru Rafah Crossing (Palestine side). He can do worse for Palestine (and Egypt for that matter) thru the control of the Rafah Crossing. From the military point of view, that seems to be one of the value of Rafah.
Israel has been saying for a month they are going into Rafah they have told the civilians where they are going in. Israel does everything humanly possible to protect citizens.

The weapons shipment arent just any weapons use to fight "terrorists"...
The weapons that the US is holding back are actually 1,8k 2,000-pound bombs and 1,7k 500-pound bombs (that would most likely be used to rain down on homes and civilians of Palestinian people (like how it has been done to the majority of Gaza...) that live there...
And although they have warned the civilians to "relocate", there are current 3 major hospitals that cant just "simply relocate people" that are critically injured from the war and bombings that the Israeli government has made...)...
This decision was made due to concerns about the potential use of these weapons (Bombs) in civilian areas (like how they have done so in the past and bombed many hospitals (with many civilian patients and families in there) "from fear of Hamas being there") and the in the ongoing Conflict in Gaza...

It's strategic. While the World is playing checkers, Netanyahu's playing chess--always two steps ahead. With this move, he forces one of two things, either they let the IDF carry out their operation to the finish line, making sure every single Hamas fighter is dead, albeit there will be a lot of civilian casualties in the process, or this forces Egypt's hand to open the Rafah crossing and move the civilians there to avoid death, thereby open the battlefield even more for IDF to carry out it's operations. Either way, the IDF gets to push through with its objectives.
