  • Here I go through the process of installing a recessed outlet that will sit behind the television. A lot cleaner and easier than having a wire run down the wall to an outlet. I bought this recessed box at home depot, and it can hold the tv cord as well as cable wires and or ethernet cable. Important to do this if you want your tv as close to the wall as possible.
Of course any electrical work should be completed by a licensed electrician if you are not comfortable doing this sort of work. Always remember to turn power off and double check that there are no live wires where you are working because electricity poses a risk of electrocution or shock

How deep is the space between your drywall? For some reason, the box i bought won't make it;s way flush with the wall. It's either one of the corners is stuck or there isn;t enough room between my drywall.

In residential construction as I understand it, all interior walls use 2x4 as studs. So there would be 4” between the pieces of Sheetrock. I’ve personally never seen a wall made with 2x3 studs. Either way the box should absolutely fit. The hole you cut should be large enough for you to look in there and even measure . It’s most likely a corner or small piece hanging it up. Let me know!

@Samlol23_drrich I appreciate you! Turns out the drywall in my unit was spaced out by a 2x3 metal stud not 2x4 wood stud. So I had to buy a slimmer wall unit. It worked like a charm.

@JMMJ94 wow. Thanks for letting me know and I'm glad it worked out. At least now you know in case you ever need to hang anything heavy!
