Это не надолго..его опять порвёт, внутренние напряжения никто не отменял, нужно было ещё несколько раз такие бабочки ставить,и мне кажется что больше размером..

Those "lines" plus all the other careful and substantive work made the damage absolutely imperceptible.

Lesson learned: Never buy a $10,000 table like that, that was made from a livesawn piece of timber that's going through the center of the log. Virtually guaranteed to check like that sooner or later.

Not necessarily, they could have bought the table and it was not fully dry. Not necessarily live straight off the sawmill

Doesn't matter when the table already isn't a perfect rectangle. Look again.
Not necessarily the crack is shrinkage it maybe a bit warped though.

They sell these crazy new tools for wood working. I think they're called clamps!
The wood wouldn't have come back together with clamping, not with that kind of crack.

Good job, I love it when folks use good old fashioned skills and apply themselves to save something from being thrown out and replaced. Nice skills
I like the repair. The end grain butterfly with dowels added stability to the end of the table, and this method seals the crack without reintroducing lateral stress that was likely originally caused by changes in humidity. All in all a thoughtful and well accomplished repair. If that was a whole table epoxy finish, it should limit future stress from RH changes, too
No dowels we’re used that I could see. The wood was not sufficiently seasoned to create a split of that scale.

What did they do on that table?
If the wood was improperly dried and treated before being made into a table then it can crack, or if it is experiencing some drastic moisture differences and isn't properly protected against it then it can crack from that too.
Looks fantastic until you view it from the other end of the table. Should really route out and cut in a new piece of timber and avoid painting it because red pigments eventually turn black.

Unless of course you happen to be a comensurate craftsman who knows to use resins that act as an anti-humidity sealant and shield against light damage/reaction. There is an old saying : Don't teach your grandmother to suck eggs. This guy knows what he's doing.
@@obi-ron It would appear you have limited practical experience in working with wood . The bond between the resin and wood is not going to effect the overall movement of the table top.And as some other people have mentioned " the split will probably re open". The grain in timber is much like the stripes you see on newly cut and rolled grass, the lighter stripes catch the light whereas the darker show shadow, so when you effectively paint in a light area you can bet your life, like your lawn, it'll be dark from the other end. I've been restoring furniture since the mid seventies and have always tried to find the right piece of repair timber that changes shade when it's rotated and matches the piece. I've done some great colour-in jobs in the past, but have been totally gutted when I've seen them ten years later when the softer red pigments are almost black, so I now avoid using colour (paint) and explain to my customers that the repair will in time match when the repair timber darkens naturally.
