I love it when non-dealers start throwing prices out without hearing the Deutz 1011, 73 hp, 4 cylinder oil/air cooled motor even run. When you throw out a price of what the seller would take cash is insanity. You have zero idea on what works and doesn't. Those cracks did not come from moving sanding discs on a concrete driveway. I have the 873 G=Series. I had to put 4 new injectors in a couple years ago. Guy on Ebay from Cedar Creek, TX was selling 4 nib Bosch injectors for $860. I bought them. One hour job to r&r. They have been flawless. Bobcat wanted over $3,000.

Did a quick CL search for east Texas expanded to 150 mile range: low was $5900.00 (junk) but multiple 5 year old tracked Kubotas in the 90HP range with cab and A/C & heat were mid to high 20 grand range. If you really are dead set on getting a skid steer I would expand your search area and prepare for a road trip to get a good deal.I would put my year model cut-off at 10 years just for parts support. If I had a use for one then one of the Kubota's would be on my trailer tomorrow. You can see them by searching houston craigslist for "skid steer".Also Dallas CL,and Austin, pretty much any major Texas city.

Careful, older Bobcats are usually sold because hoses and other hard to access parts are starting to fail. I have pulled engines on 3 different Bobcat machines and it is tight in there! Motor mount bolts alone will make you lose your mind!!!! Those weld repairs seem new with new paint... fixed and cleaned up to sell. How long have they been using the machine with the cracks not repaired? I would want to lift the cab and see what kind is going on under there... You might want to keep looking...

I just bought a burned 873 (f) series for 1000.00 , Ive picked up most the parts for an additional 600.00 from salvage yard. Still need some items, ill probably be into it 2500.00 if all goes well, If I were buying the 873 i would go with one that has a kubota vs the duetz engine, the duetz has an interference motor with a timing belt.

The welds are a result of maxing out its lifting capacity regularly , clues are the Forks , hard tires and stone grinding wheels on skids and the tire track marks , so the frame is stressed out along with the hydraulic system , but for the rite price and a set of wheel over steel tracks ??

I have seen many old skid steers in my life ,,,but I never seen a shiny well presented 22 years old bobcat that had so many weld patches on it period...this is a classic example of a skid steer that has been pushed beyond it's mechanical lifting and operational limits like no tommorow...there is n o need even to negotiate the price...you only do one thing and 1 thing only...run..
Good luck with your next find....

There was a good of work and dollars spent in new paint, decals, tires, seat , cleaning, the bucket teeth are good, the blade there welded on is about 40%, the work is about the mechanics and electronics. its got age on it and age takes it toll on everything especially seals. i would like to have one as well.

Saw a comment about the tires. Yes those tires will not be great in soft terrain. Better for demo and working on solid ground. You may need to get a separate set of straight air tires and wheels and switch them out.

The Holy Grail of machines is the one that does all needed for a job from start to finish. If there is one I haven't found it. Some machines, with assorted attachments, can do a host of tasks but usually not as well as a dedicated machine. Can you clear with a skid steer? Yes. Is it as good as a bulldozer? No.
Can you dig stumps with a backhoe? yes. As good as an excavator with a hydraulic thumb? No. Skid steers are fine for moving and spreading material.Exceptional for moving and laying fill and gravel. Handy with attachments on digging post holes, spot mixing concrete, and other tasks. But each attachment is usually thousands of dollars. I can get a 3 point concrete mixer for a tractor. They mix about 3-4 cubic feet at a time and are fairly expensive when new. Or I could do what I did and buy a towable concrete mixer that will mix 1/3 of a yard for $175.00,spend a few hours chipping off old concrete splatter, slap on 2 used tires and a coat of paint and call it a day.Comment is getting long but I would look at rentals when you need a skid steer. But as i mentioned in another comment a loader for your tractor might make sense too. Loader on the front along with a decent rear counter weight and you could move most any material you need to. Between it (with a loader on it) and your excavator you seem to have what you need for all but heavy jobs and for those lease or rent what you need.

    Nice video.
I am no expert. I have only had my one machine and my one experience with my amazing find.
IMO, wouldn't touch this machine. WAY too much $ asking price. It clearly has been used HARD. If you are patient you WILL find a good deal on a great machine. After several lemons I bought back in my youth, I am now wary of any car or machine that has new paint and so many welds.
In 2018 I was shopping for my first steer to excavate my hillside of the sawmill pad, build retaining walls, load logs onto the mill, to do general excavation on the property, plowing in winter, and to use auger for fence and shed building (concrete pillars), both on my property and for jobs. I was looking all over the country knowing I'd be paying several thousand $ for trucking fees.
I found an 2000 863 less than 5 miles away. I paid $100 for the local otw company to haul it over on their flat bed. I got it for $25,000. It had a mere 800hrs. It's 2023 and I now have 1500 hrs on it. Attachments included; auger (9" auger included), bucket, forks, and a Bobcat backhoe attachment.
I have been quite fortunate. Oil changes, greasing every 10hrs., changing air filters is all I have done. No major repairs, even though my buddy put gasoline in it and ran it for a few hours, and another buddy put diesel fuel in the hydraulic tank and didn't run it. In each instance I called the local Bobcat rental facility and they ran me through the steps to remedy both situations. Stating this kinda crap happens all the time with their machines. Thankfully, no long term issues caused in either case. I have learned my lesson, no more loaning it out to friends...EVER. I am now the sole operator, PERIOD!
I have moved and placed huge boulders for restringing walls on the property. If I couldn't lift a particular boulder with the forks, I'd simple flip it over and over, and/or push it into place. I have plowed big winters up here at 8500', using only the bucket.
I have run this machine very hard at times. It has surpassed my expectations of what a skid steer can do. I have saved myself, conservatively estimating, easily over $20,000 in the machine rental costs. My cabin resides on a sloped hill at the top of the subdivision, boarding BLM. I have moved 30+ truck loads of back fill down into the yard and expanded my usable area. I get it free from the county road and bridge folks (as they clear dirt from run off ditches down the road after big rains, due to the fire of 2002).
    it's time for bushings.
If I need welding, my neighbor up the road will take care of it free, as I assist him w/ plowing his accounts in our subdivision.
I feel blessed to have found this machine! it has changed my life and allowed me to develop my property in a way that would have been expensive if renting, or impossible w/o a machine.

  • @amossnowdaharleyman9179
    @amossnowdaharleyman9179 Před 4 lety +1

I'd pass on that one for several reasons:You see the obvious cracks and repair attempts. You don't see the hidden cracks. Wheeled skid steer loaders are notorious for getting stuck. Tracked loaders can get stuck but not as easily. The solid tires are nice and you can add a track kit: couple more thousand for that.Seat is probably a replacement and the bucket cutting edges are "U" shaped now. Started out going straight across when new. The good looking teeth are replacements. What is the final use you are looking to achieve? If you need a loader why not add one to your tractor? Cheaper in the long run and you can get options: quick hitch, grapple, etc.Just a thought.Or do what I do: look for real deals and buy then fix as time permits.

Looks like something one sees at an auction, 6k-9k machine at most, to a mechanic, if you hire that trade out I would pass on this one. You bought another mans head ache with theexcavator (last owner didn’t know how to use the machine within its guidelines, it took several weeks and thousands of dollars to make that right) you hinted at the fact that you already paid for your education. I also think it’s not the correct machine for you, the tracked version is what you have your mind on. A great deal will come up.

It's a used machine sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't, engine and drive motors and hydrostat pump needs to be checked out really good, crack's in lifting arms no problem for a good welder the welds that or crack or to wide that's why they recraked need to be stitch welded after cuting out bad weld and the old crack, but that's just me. LOL

Mike I so agree with you the welds are nothing big. Everything else is big bucks to fix.

The economy is about to crash and that guy is dreaming. That machine has been worked hard and repaired half ass. I wouldn't pay a dollar over $10000. You can get a tracked machine for what he's asking.
