I am a 70 year old army combat veteran who tears up every time I hear the BA performance. I have watched band competitions since my daughter was in band in the late 80's and early 90's and now my granddaughters. I know very little about judging or how winners are selected. I do know that at the end of competition that placement of a band is nothing more than a number established by a handful of judges with their own agendas and prejudices as we all have. However, I will truly say that at the end of Broken Arrow's performance there were 30,000 people in the audience who departed that facility knowing they had been both entertained and moved to tears all in one glorious patriotic theme that will be long remembered on that Veterans day, especially by me and all the vets in attendance. Hats off to all 12 of the finalist and a wonderful group of kids that gave heart and soul. Let us all remember it is not about the winning, but the journey and the relationships we make along the way. You are all winners by participating and giving your all in such a worth while program. Bands kids are the greatest asset to America because of their discipline and integrity taught throughout the band programs and competing. God Bless America!

Let me guess. You watch Fox News. That's the reason why you don't understand why this show lost.
This is America's darkest hour. This show is a flagrant political statement. This is like waving US flags during Watergate. We have a president who likely colluded with Russians to sway our election and told his staff to cover it up! Some of them are already in jail and have pled guilty! You watch Fox News, so do you even know this fact?
We've had numerous indictments for our President's staff who lied to the FBI about Russian meetings and business deals with foreign adversaries during the election! Trump embarrasses us every day with atrocious lies like there were "millions and millions" of fraudulent votes in the last election, proven false by his own appointed committee. Not to mention Trump's mishandling of Syria, forcing a general to resign because of Trump's incompetence. That's an affront to our servicemen and women like you.
The only thing salvageable about this show was they spelled the word Truth on the field, something that the President's news outlet Fox news doesn't concern itself with. (Fox has never won a journalism award, ever. Yet Trump appears on that station every week spouting lies and mis-framing issues, and his lies are documented by scores of respectable international news outlets.)
Patriotism is earned. You earned it for us, in part. Patriotism is not shot out of a confetti canon in a marching band show during America's bleakest days. This show is laughably incompetent, avoidant of the real issues, and is hard to be taken seriously. Just like our president, who will soon be indicted. Yay America!?

You voted for him, didn't you! DIDN'T YOU!! SAY IT! I voted for a man who colluded with Russians and made underhanded business deals with Russians during the election and met with Russians to sway the election. SAY IT! Then say, "Yay, America!"

My band had a very similar show concept this same year but because it was our inaugural year of combining schools in the district to make a new bigger band everyone made it this big showdown between us and broken arrow when actually a lot of us loved watching brokens show and didn’t see them as anymore of a competitor than any other band at the competition. Years later and I can definitely say it’s still just as cool to watch this show as it was back then. Cheers to broken arrow 😊

I don't understand why people think getting 4th at Grand National finals is a bad thing, I agree that it was a fantastic show, but just because they have a show about America doesn't mean they should automatically get first. Secondly, just because they've scored higher in the past doesn't automatically give them the right to top 2. Top 4 at Grand Nationals is absolutely incredible!!

Professionals in entertainment ask this show's designers these questions:
      *Why a patriotic show now?
*Why this year during greivous, embarrassing, racist gaffs by our president, including making fun of disabled people, getting called out for thousands of verifiable lies and deceptions, getting laughed at by Europen leaders behind his back, and telling the American public not to trust voting systems when the vote doesn't go their way, and then getting sued for it in a court of law?
How do the long skirt like costumes fit the theme, specifically?
How does the word "Truth" tie in to the veterans you're honoring? Are they telling the truth? Are they uncovering the truth? Are they on a quest for truth?

Here’s my opinion on this; I think Broken Arrow’s fourth place was pretty much what they deserved. They chose an “easy” performance to base their show off of, and that was patriotism. Obviously, the crowd loved that. You really need to ask yourself this though: was the crowd cheering for Broken Arrow or patriotism? Although I do agree their word-formation was impressive, they kinda cheated: the capes hid their feet, meaning the judges couldn’t tell if Broken Arrow was actually on time with the beat. Also, they weren’t moving often when they were *playing.* The judges think playing while moving quickly is really impressive, but Broken Arrow wasn’t doing that. Thank you for reading my opinions on this!

The crowd cheered because it was an amazing performance. 4th place is nothing to scoff at. This kind of performance is practically professional quality. Placement is a comparison, but scores aren't, so if Broken arrow is happy with their score that's all that matters.

David Brown I didn’t say that fourth place was bad - it’s quite amazing, especially because they’re the fourth best marching band IN THE NATION! That’s incredible if you ask me. To me personally, I think the crowd cheered because the show was entertaining. I would totally want to watch it for a Fourth of July or Veterans’ Day performance! However, it’s not quite the best performance to be judged. I still think it’s entertaining!

The judges were looking for different props. Some of them like Carmel, had prop rifles and more. Broken arrow just had flags and fake trombones. This show didn't deserve 4th place.
