- In this video i show you how to slice samples on the K.O! aka The P0-33. This to me is one of the fastest and easiest ways to chop samples on the PO-33 and this video shows you how to make a beat in minutes! I love these pocket operators by teenage engineering. They're so powerful!

Man you are teaching people to fish with your tricks, this is genius
Wooo! I’m glad to help
Exactly !!!!!!
This was the most perfect comment.
Hey Ricky. I've been playing thrash and heavy metal guitar for 20+ years but along the way have fallen in love with ambient, electronica and hip hop. It's opened so much of a new world of music to me over the past few years that I've finally taken the plunge and bought a microfreak and a PO rhythm and K.O. Your tutorials have been so helpful I just wanted to let you know as there will be so many other artists out there who without tutorials like these just wont take that next step. Thanks again man
That’s crazy cause my 3 most listened to genres are hiphop ambient and electronica. Check out Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin; they’re some of the greatest electronica artists out there
@@morlordca If you like Hip Hop and Ambient check out NxxxxxS' Fujita Scale also Tokyo Audio 3000 by Air Japan
Welcome, friend. I too took a similar path.
Smooth. I like your presentation very very much. Nice and easy - less is more - no titles or edgy editing, This is how tuts should be done. Nice job. Looking forward for more. Thumbs up.
Thanks Mike! Glad it’s working, also thanks for watching
Agreed!
Enrique Martinez Music Always go to your videos for tutorials, just got my PO-33 today and I’m loving it Thanks for the all the tips and tricks of the trade ahha
This man literally said "leave me a thumbs down so I know where I can improve"....good on ya mate! 🤙 And I will be purchasing one or two of these little gadgets so my daughter and I can learn together, awesome video man much appreciated
It was so worth returning to this tutorial Enrique. After owning my PO33 for a few months, the concepts make more sense. Fantastic stuff! Oh yeah by the way... thanks for lost time today. I can´t account for any time between 2pm and 8pm today. It started when I was looking through your CZcams videos.
Thanks Ricky! I just (after a few failed attempts) put the opening 2 measures of Slowdive's "Sugar for the Pill" over a hip hop beat and am now artistically fulfilled for life. Thanks for the thorough and easy-to-follow video man!
This is a superb tutorial vid. Thanks for the focus on trimming and beat slicing samples on the K.O. I love this thing and it's amazing to see classic cut-up techniques applied to something that fits in your pocket. Same with the Rhythm which is pretty much a pocketable 808. Respect!
This tutorial is gold. Tnx a lot for explaining bro. Got mine last weekend and can't wait to get busy on this micro MPC
FINALLY some good tutorial. Seriously, after a lot of time digging through videos and official docs (terrible I'd say), this is what I was searching for: just simple steps to get started explaining everything not taking anything for granted. Also edition is great.THANKS!!
Man did you notice at 3:38 you played Giant Steps by Coltrane!? Nice video!
holy crap... you just blew my mind. wow that was insane.
Haha that’s hilarious. Major 7 arpeggio!
😵
crazyy man
Great video! I just started using the PO-33 and this was one of the most interesting instructional videos yet
Only just bought my po33 to run with my tonic and factory but the 33 looks like the most flexible pocket operator so far! Nice vid.
I’ve now watched this numerous times. Absolutely love your style and content is GREAT.
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks so much
Just got a PO33 as an early Christmas present to myself. Watched this video a few times trying to get the techniques/concepts and your presentation style is a massive help. Thank you and Merry Christmas :-)
Great video bro and love the nice calm sound of your voice so it makes the whole watching experience so much better, unlike many youtubers who are more acting then making quality content.
Great videos, man. Thanks for keeping it simple and straightforward. Love your grooves too.
I love your content man, thanks for showing all of us how to make the most out of our PO-33s.
This is so awesome, thank you for sharing. I just picked up the PO-137 and 138. I never understood not only that you could take the melodic and split it as a drum track, but also that you could multi chain the pattern. I knew I could be like 1 - 4 - 5 I didn't know I could be like 11-4-11-33-45 etc. I really appreciate you posting this. I also love the drum pattern on this. Thanks!
Good video, very well explained!
I've been using this thing since it came out and still learned something new.
Hi there. I am just getting into these pocket operators and have little to no musical experience, just a love of music! Your videos are really fantastic for a beginner like me. Thanks man. You really are great at these instructional videos.
I just discovered this device via a random YT vid and have been looking around at tutorials. This was the easiest to understand by far and got me more excited to go pick one up.
Thank you Enrique. Have recently bought the KO and am learning a lot from you on how to use it.
Really well done. I've been looking at a couple of tutorials for knockout in the past 24 hours, and found this one so easy to follow. Smooth pacing, clear explanation, great beat - a fantastic watch. Thank you.
Thanks Kyle! I'm glad I could help
This was incredibly easy to follow. You're a wonderful teacher. Thanks for making it :)
Yo Enrique, i’m french and i just bought Po33. Thank You so much for your tuto. It’s very helpfull even for a french guy like me. Your track is amazing. Thank you man 🙏🏻
Yo SiFaSile j'enjoy your vidéos continue like that c'est awesome
thanks so much, enrique, for always sharing the love, the knowledge, the power.
That was a tasty mellow slice you showed! I ordered one earlier today and this was a great display and tutorial for this instrument!.
Recently bought the PO 20 for my son and I to learn. Now I have it down and after watching this I believe I’m ready for the 33 or 133, need to sample after peeping this tutorial.
Thanks so much dude, this is what I got the little beast for but was spending ages trimming as I had samples entered into my the drum slots first. Game changer. cheers for being so generous with your Knowledge. Peace.
Glad I could help homie!
Thanks for this- and that’s another one sold. I’ve got a couple samplers on iPad and they’re frankly incomprehensible, even with tutorials. This looks easy and practical, and import/export looks to be a no-brainer. Got homemade guitars, synths, drum sounds, two dogs- that’ll do for starters!
THANKS A LOT!!! I've made a sequence on my drum machine with 16 sounds that I need so they're equidistant to each other and with this technic i don't need to trim they at all!
great little tutorial just what i needed. I got the Ko but was clueless ... gonna hook it to laptop and have a follow through what you did. :D inspired. thanks.
Love your videos! I can't wait for my KO to get here in a few days and to start playing with it, you're giving me a ton of inspiration!
You're ace man. Thanks so much for all the videos I've watched so far ❤
Finally getting a PO33 on Monday; for a late Christmas present; pretty excited, thanks for putting out this video.
New to the PO organization. You are a fine point of reference! Thank your for all of the helpful tips and dope beats, this is a really dope new way sample melody into the drum section and use it creatively 🤙🏻
Just picked one up two days ago basically figured it out. But there's a few wee things I need to learn so this video was helpful thanks dude
Just got mine in the post today! Your videos are immense! Make it look so easy! Haha can’t wait till I’m knocking out some smooth grooves! :)
I ended up having to get one of these, and it is as I feared! Now I just want more samplers! Haha! This little one sever stops to amaze me though. Cheers for a helpful video! Got some long bus rides coming, so plenty of time to noodle and make beats! :D
Good stuff. Very informative video. Easy to follow what you are laying down.
you're a natural teacher/instructor. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
That part about how to get the clean slices was so helpful thank you!
Beautiful walk through. Thanks so much for sharing.
Enrique you are a smooth operator. I have picked up a lot and an op-z since the first time I watched this. Now that I understand better what you are laying down I see how you are truly working this device.... Slick. I was getting frustrated because the ko being monophonic was bothering me but then I watched this video again and it opened my eyes. I didn't realise you could pattern chain and then live record over that with your special tweak recording melodic into drum chop NICE! That opens up the almost instant wall I was hitting with the ko. You sir rock the house. Thank you for being you.
Lot =ko
Thank you so much for this sharing!! Super useful for the beginner. I'm practicing it now.
Nice tutorial and chill beat, mmm nice 8 bit crunch on the P.O, its a knockout!
Watching your work flow is dope! 🖖👽
quick tip: if you want to follow your pattern sequence, just keep pressing the "pattern" button - now instead of the step, the led sequence will show which pattern it is playing .
great tutorial. knowledge is power. love
PO are amazing. Each one is unique.
Dude I love you! This just made my day!thank you so much for sharing the knowledge brother 🙌🙌
Well done man. keep it coming
I love your vids mate. Concise, chilled explanation and cool clean aesthetic. Thank you
Thanks Josh, i really appreciate that
Always enjoy your videos, especially the PO33 and digitakt ones. Would love to see something on effects/effects hardware you're using. All the way from Sydney AUS 👍
Thank you! That’s a good idea. But first to buy more effects!
I love your videos, and your videography is so on point like yo beats. I love your intro, doesn’t matter if I’m watching at 3am it makes me want to make a beat, grind some beans, and smash the French press along with some dope beats.
Hell yes! Mission accomplished
Excellent work Sir!! Big thumbs up!
Oh lord this video was a delight to watch! You are a super nice person, instant asmr watching you create :) Super helpful info, nice beat. Much love, God bless!
just came to say you're awesome, came for the quick look, stayed for your great presentation. earned my subscribe, sir
Just a note: You mention that if you put a sample in the melodic section you can play it chromatically across the buttons. It's not actually the chromatic scale though, it's a minor/harmonic minor scale. I was confused at first using it for that purpose
Thanks for the nice tutorial. Now I‘m one step further with my PO
Wow this is sooo smart!!
Oh man! you just showed me an amazing trick that I can also use with my PO-20 (Arcade) at 8:20! Copy a bass-line to several patterns AND THEN LIVE RECORD over all of them in sequence! That way I can actually live record melodies up to 16x16=256 steps long!
Best Tutorial for me and my PO :), big THX!!!
Cool demo and tips. The Po-33 is the standout best pocket operator in the lineup imo.
For sure the most flexible. Paired with the others it becomes pretty fun too
@@RickyTinez how to speed BPM in this video?)
Awesome video!! Most definitely want to break out the K.O. and the MPC!
Very informative, I appreciate your content a lot. Thank you!
Yet another super informative video I thought I knew the po 33 inside out till I watched this thanks for the tip
Nice! Glad I can help expand the mind haha
Awesome tip! I got one of these to use as a drum machine when I first started producing, but I almost immediately replaced it and forgot about it.
Viewing it as a sampler instead of just a drum machine is something I definitely plan on doing going forward. This video will definitely get me back into it. Thanks!
Hi Enrique. Thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial video. This should be considered at official website and CZcams channel of Teenage Engineering. Congratulations. Very very good.
This beat is doooope. I definately am buying this.
Great tutorial, thank you. I'm pretty new at this so my attempts to make this work come out pretty choppy. But I've discovered that after copying my sample into one of the drum spots each "slice" is like a trimmed section of the whole sample, so I/you can change/expand the trim job in just one of the spots to get a smooth sample that with play through the whole pattern, wihile just punching a single button instead of each button in succession!
Lol, I guess this is the same as recording the whole sample into a melodic spot though.
This is so helpful! Cheers Ricky
I’ve been toying with buying a PO-33 since it was launched. Think I’m going to pull the trigger. Great little device. Has to be the most interesting in the PO series.
Amazing! I really enjoyed that missing note in the first step
Great tips, great delivery. Quality.
Appreciate that Chris, thank you

Awesome video and swinging heavy pretty beat!!!
Thanks for the video ! It really helps understanding the PO I just got :)
Dope!! Thanks for this!! 👊🏾
Are you going to do more KO vids? I've seen two by you so far and I'm enjoying them.
Waiting for my PO-33 to come in June (originally was meant to be in the shop today but there's supply problems). You're making me super keen to get my hands on it.
You make the process look super chill and straight forward. Happy to give you genuine critical feedback once I have mine.
Cheers from Australia.
Maybe! I keep messing with it and finding cool things
@@RickyTinez Yeh I just ordered one too because of your videos. An update would be bad ass.
