The thing with his daughter is that she talked about Taylor Swift's private jet and that she should use cars more forgetting that her own dad literally said he took private jets flying around the world to read bedtime stories to her. Then she undermined the AI pictures of Taylor circulating on Twitter saying it wasn't important because it happens to other people, basically saying that sexual harassment is not important when it happens to someone famous. That's what Dave's daughter did. It was stupid but for every actions, you have consequences.

I think the grossest thing about the joke Dave made is that the crowd boos Taylor the moment he brings her up and he doesn’t shut that down at all. I think it’s a pretty bad look on an artist to allow that kind of energy towards another artists at their shows. To me that is the difference, Grohl made it personal against Swift herself, for something she had zero input or control over. Artists, big or small, should support one another, end of story.
The problem with how it was taken was that he was playing in the same city at the same time at a lesser venue doing fewer concerts. It came across as petty jealousy with people discussing that he probably walked trough London unrecognized and only saw Swifties and things related to her concert like special metro signs etc and nothing about his old men band.

She doesn't have backing tracks. She has four vocalists, called the Starlights who have been with her from the first tour and their voices blend perfectly with hers. So she doesn't need backing tracks to save money. They are on stage with her throughout the concert. They aren't hidden behind a curtain. She also has her band called The Agency. Most of them have been with her since 2008. So for him to disrespect a female artist, her vocalists and her band is uncalled for and there was no need for that.If he is upset bc some of her fans went after his daughter, then criticize them but to use a lie that he knows that haters use against TS is out of place. In the past the Foo Fighters would have been the main number playing in London, Now, she was the bigger number that weekend, so if he didn't like it, he shouldn't have played the same weekend she played. It is sad that someone like him with such a trajectory would come across as a bitter old fart trying to belittle a younger successful artist.

I think alcohol played some role in Dave's outburst, I also believe he was fully aware of what he was implying. Which means there was some intent in his words. That's what made it all the more shocking, because it's so out of his character. Dave's been considered one of the most nice and genuine guys in rock since before Taylor picked up her first guitar. So something - or likely a combination of things - must've pushed him into saying what he said. Folks attacking his kid would surely be on that list.

You best point here is that Dave, perhaps unknowingly, furthered the narrative that Taylor is "terrible" in front of a rock crowd. He could have said he was joking or that he was kidding or that there was no room for Taylor slander there. It was a disappointment from someone who KNOWS she is an incredible artist.

I’m in a very unique position. I’ve seen both live within 9 days of one another. Murrayfield & Hampden. I have a rock & metal background in music. I am a converted Swiftie. The rock and metal scene has been found stale for years. Some take themselves too seriously. It’s why I also have Country and Drum & Bass in my music rotation. If a rock/metal band performs to a click, isn’t that taking away from the live show? I’m now wanting to go to see a show, watching 4 or 5 dudes play their instruments with minimal lighting and production just isn’t me. I think people want to be entertained now. Video screens, lasers and good lighting is a must. Taylor is many things, something she is someone who plays live.
The issue is he’s trying to diminish the hard work of not only Taylor but her entire band who do play live and have played live three to four nights a week for three and a half hours every one of those nights for a year and a half. That’s not something he should be proud of doing as a musician himself. And Taylor should be pissed that yet another artist is tarnishing her reputation for their own gain. It’s not just Dave this has happened to her her entire career. Just this year alone both Billie eilish and Charlie xcx have both tried doing it and Taylor has gauged Charlie a platform to open up for the last tour and has spoken so highly of Billie. As a GenX music maniac, I'm late to the Swift Party but since TTPD dropped in April, I'm enjoying the rabbit hole of all things TS, learning she is so much more than a singer; she's an artistic unicorn. I still enjoy classic rock like Nirvana (I used to perform to them on stage), and Foo Fighters, and have been a fan of Dave Grohl for over 30 years. I was bummed when I saw the clip, then I shrugged it off because just as you say here, who knows the backstory and more importantly, who cares? The world has more important things to focus on. Let's listen and dance to what we like. Period.

Okay- I know Dave Grohl actually adores Taylor and has often talks about how she ‘saved’ him at a party at Paul McCartney’s house. I think she would have ignored it except she wants to make sure her band & singers (who works super hard on this tour), gets the credit it deserves and only because the media and the constant crap out there about her lip-syncing. But anyone who actually pays attention knows she doesn’t. Every major artist/band's fanbase, especially one as massive and passionate as Taylor's, will include a few folks lacking common sense and restraint. It's a given. Regarding the comment his daughter made, tbh she jumped in on a hate train against Taylor that’s already there and that’s the issue. I studied environment at university and constantly see see targeted comments about Taylor’s co2 emissions from her plane pop up on my feed. Not sure you know but even Taylor’s publicist had to address someone tracking her and her jet. It’s pretty serious. Again no one deserves hate, and swifties can be aggressive and unfair and I’m sorry his daughter got hat. But it’s a big thing, the hate Taylor gets about this is a *thing* and people jump on it without any prompting (and she’s not even in the top 30 celeb carbon emissions for her jet, and not to mention it distracts from the more prominent issues that contribute to the GHG effect). Exactly, given that she’s on the biggest tour of all time and still isn’t in the top 30 for private jet usage, and the fact that she pays DOUBLE the amount of carbon credits for her jet usage, I think we should be more objective about who we distribute the criticism to for jet usage. Just because people are having a good time talking about Taylor doesn’t mean it should be an opportunity to yell about her using a private jet to get across oceans instead of screwing over airports by flying commercial. There are tons of celebrities who aren’t touring and don’t have to be places who are flying more than her and aren’t making up for it with carbon credits, and that should be the main focus if you want to focus on private jets. His band is actually very good, one of the highest performing of the last several decades, it’s an iconic band and he himself is an icon. He’s also got the reputation for being one of the nicest guys out there, so a snarky comment about a peer is kinda weird to hear from him, it’s not the norm. I think he was trying to be funny and it didn’t go as planned and it came off sounding a little sour and misogynistic, but I don’t think that’s the way it was intended.

The thing with his daughter is that she talked about Taylor Swift's private jet and that she should use cars more forgetting that her own dad literally said he took private jets flying around the world to read bedtime stories to her. Then she undermined the AI pictures of Taylor circulating on Twitter saying it wasn't important because it happens to other people, basically saying that sexual harassment is not important when it happens to someone famous. That's what Dave's daughter did. It was stupid but for every actions, you have consequences.

Just a quick comment, the Swifties that attacked his daughter were wrong to do so, BUT that was not Taylor Swift herself, and she had zero control of that situation or th fans that did so. Grohl made his comments himself, with 70,000 in person witnesses and millions worldwide. To me that is the difference, Grohl made it personal against Swift herself, for something she had zero input or control over. Artists, big or small, should support one another, end of story.
The problem with how it was taken was that he was playing in the same city at the same time at a lesser venue doing fewer concerts. It came across as petty jealousy with people discussing that he probably walked trough London unrecognized and only saw Swifties and things related to her concert like special metro signs etc and nothing about his old men band.

called the Starlights who have been with her from the first tour and their voices blend perfectly with hers. So she doesn't need backing tracks to save money. They are on stage with her throughout the concert. They aren't hidden behind a curtain. She also has her band called The Agency. Most of them have been with her since 2008. So for him to disrespect a female artist, her vocalists and her band is uncalled for and there was no need for that.If he is upset bc some of her fans went after his daughter, then criticize them but to use a lie that he knows that haters use against TS is out of place. In the past the Foo Fighters would have been the main number playing in London, Now, she was the bigger number that weekend, so if he didn't like it, he shouldn't have played the same weekend she played. I have a rock & metal background in music. I am a converted Swiftie. The rock and metal scene has been found stale for years. Some take themselves too seriously. It’s why I also have Country and Drum & Bass in my music rotation. If a rock/metal band performs to a click, isn’t that taking away from the live show?
I’m now wanting to go to see a show, watching 4 or 5 dudes play their instruments with minimal lighting and production just isn’t me. I think people want to be entertained now. Video screens, lasers and good lighting is a must.
Taylor is many things, something she is someone who plays live.
The issue is he’s trying to diminish the hard work of not only Taylor but her entire band who do play live and have played live three to four nights a week for three and a half hours every one of those nights for a year and a half. That’s not something he should be proud of doing as a musician himself. And Taylor should be pissed that yet another artist is tarnishing her reputation for their own gain. It’s not just Dave this has happened to her her entire career. Just this year alone both Billie eilish and Charlie xcx have both tried doing it and Taylor has gauged Charlie a platform to open up for the last tour and has spoken so highly of Billie. Dave is not exempt from the criticism he’s receiving for perpetuating this cycle Taylor has endured for two decades. I think that many artists and also CZcamsrs and influencers come for Taylor Swift for the publicity. It’s like a standard thing to do now for cheap engagement. It’s actually sad how much our entertainment economy is now run on anger and divisiveness, if it’s not about taking jabs at Taylor it’s about manufactured beef between artists that reduces really concerning accusations against artists to “who had the better takedown”. As a GenX music maniac, I'm late to the Swift Party but since TTPD dropped in April, I'm enjoying the rabbit hole of all things TS, learning she is so much more than a singer; she's an artistic unicorn. I still enjoy classic rock like Nirvana (I used to perform to them on stage), and Foo Fighters, and have been a fan of Dave Grohl for over 30 years. I was bummed when I saw the clip, then I shrugged it off because just as you say here, who knows the backstory and more importantly, who cares? The world has more important things to focus on. Let's listen and dance to what we like. Period.

David has been trying to get swifites attention for a while. He mentioned her a few weeks before this incident where he complimented her stage stamina. His comment on errors tour isnt original as swifties often giggle about the errors on the eras tour. Taylor gets compliments from many artists that get swifites attention, but he only got it when he decided that bashing her and hiding it behind a joke was the only time he was going to be come relevant to her fan base. I think not only did he insult taylor though, he insulted her backing singers, the band. Sorry but he was being so rude and disrespectful.

Okay- I know Dave Grohl actually adores Taylor and has often talks about how she ‘saved’ him at a party at Paul McCartney’s house. I think she would have ignored it except she wants to make sure her band & singers (who works super hard on this tour), gets the credit it deserves and only because the media and the constant crap out there about her lip-syncing. But anyone who actually pays attention knows she doesn’t. But I think she knows Dave well enough to know he wasn’t really jabbing at her but took the opportunity to confirm she is live since there has been more lip-syncing claims as your has gone on.

I am 100% against any backlash to his daughter. I had not heard that it started by something that she said. With that said, Taylor DOES NOT put other people down. She empowers AS MANY PEOPLE as she possibly can. She does interviews, and if other people are there with her, she always compliments them. People need to stop coming after Taylor. 2. She deserves it because she never stops going from city to city and needs yo get there FAST AND SAFELY.
3. She’s having an impact on our economy with every show. If she had to try to fly commercial with all of her staff, it’d be a logistical nightmare.

Regarding the comment his daughter made, tbh she jumped in on a hate train against Taylor that’s already there and that’s the issue. I studied environment at university and constantly see see targeted comments about Taylor’s co2 emissions from her plane pop up on my feed. Not sure you know but even Taylor’s publicist had to address someone tracking her and her jet. It’s pretty serious. Again no one deserves hate, and swifties can be aggressive and unfair and I’m sorry his daughter got hat. But it’s a big thing, the hate Taylor gets about this is a *thing* and people jump on it without any prompting (and she’s not even in the top 30 celeb carbon emissions for her jet, and not to mention it distracts from the more prominent issues that contribute to the GHG effect). So while not ok, she definitely stepped into it for no reason and criticised Taylor unfairly. Again, not saying she deserved hate, but I also don’t think it’s an unexpected reaction in the grand scheme of that topic.
Exactly, given that she’s on the biggest tour of all time and still isn’t in the top 30 for private jet usage, and the fact that she pays DOUBLE the amount of carbon credits for her jet usage, I think we should be more objective about who we distribute the criticism to for jet usage. Just because people are having a good time talking about Taylor doesn’t mean it should be an opportunity to yell about her using a private jet to get across oceans instead of screwing over airports by flying commercial. There are tons of celebrities who aren’t touring and don’t have to be places who are flying more than her and aren’t making up for it with carbon credits, and that should be the main focus if you want to focus on private jets. Honestly, laws should be the main focus and getting people elected who will fund conversion to green energy sources, if you actually care about climate change, that has the biggest effect by far

His band is actually very good, one of the highest performing of the last several decades, it’s an iconic band and he himself is an icon. He’s also got the reputation for being one of the nicest guys out there, so a snarky comment about a peer is kinda weird to hear from him, it’s not the norm. I think he was trying to be funny and it didn’t go as planned and it came off sounding a little sour and misogynistic, but I don’t think that’s the way it was intended.
