Goof Morning that was seriously cool hearing your back story of been a kid here.. me little nephew loves abandoned things he's 7 so yesterday I took him for a stroll around this old prison he loved it. Be cool if was open but like most things in new Zealand they are sealed so tight.. I've tried contacting whomever care for it to do full I doors video but never had any luck...have an amazing week
hiya, yeah its a pity the powers that be don't set up a guided tour system or something eh so that people can go in and see. i have been inside a couple of times as an under 10 yr old with dad. from what i remember the cells were set up as a horse shoe shape in one section.
Awesome video, my poppa use to be a guard there back in the day, I remember visiting him at work and taking him his lunch, he use to live in one of the workers houses too I think.
Wow, I remember seeing the prisoners in the fields out the back. I lived down the hill at the back, our house backed on to the creek there. Seeing your video brought back memories, thanks
Nice one. I remember the creek had a big log going across it at one point. We may have been kind of creek neighbours at one point, depending on when you lived there etc. Our go to dairy was the Bulteel St shop
@@joroberts540 ok, yip my bedroom overlooked those houses on mill road. The official address of our house was 54D Robe street, but i think Robe St ends at Downe St now.

Did your Dad work there Steve? Or was it just somewhere to live? Seems odd that it is unused when they keep telling us about prison overcrowding. Now doubt it'll all be knocked down to squeeze in Kiwibuild boxes soon.
Yeah he worked there... they should keep it, will be handy to have if the time comes to keep dodgy politicians in... oh wait.. i forgot about the beehive
