Removing pin from Hydraulic Ram

- I am removing the pin that holds the hydraulic cylinder in place. This is proving to be way more difficult than I thought it would. It was a fun project but it was very tight in there. In the end the sledgehammer worked the best to get the pin out.
It really is time to get your pre-emergent ready and in your possession. You can get it here

Good for you for over coming your challenge. Can’t wait to see part 2.
I’m so happy it’s starting to get closer and closer to lawn season, more videos from my favorite people. Have a blessed one Connor!
Way to bang one out, Connor! You've been at it for a while.
Just a suggestion, I assume you have completed the job already, use the bolt pulling setup like you had on one side (place tension on the pin) then hit the other side with the hammer. In an ideal situation you would use a spacer and all thread (grade 8) long enough to receive the entire pin and with the combination constant pressure coupled with the shock of the hammer it should come out easier.
Do the similar thing to install it.
Great video! Sledge hammer worked well for the job
Definitely caught me off guard with the Pedro reference. Hahaha
He's got a sweet bike 🚲
And a delicious bass

Looks cold there! I wish I had that much hair!
12:41 Connors calling everyone to church.
I have practically the same hook-lift just one size smaller. I'm in need of that same piston rebuild myself and my top pin was not as difficult as yours but the bottom pin is my issue now. I was thinking of drilling and tapping the pin and using the same puller myself but also using a hydraulic ram pushing on the other side or hammering while pulling as well. Let you know how it went when I'm finally done getting it removed.
I’m having chest pain’s watching you swing that sledgehammer knowing there’s a better way! 🤣 good job though! 👍👍
What's the better way?
Always watch your wood when working on your pin.
Ok, late to the game but I just learnt something. Heat the end of the pin and then use wax, like a tea light candle, melted on the by the hot pin, then pound it out.
Can't wait for the "put the pin back in" video.
In the future when removing a pin like that . You need to use a rose bug that you talked about. Heat both side up cherry red,let it cool. Once its back to normal temp. Heat both side and with the sled and a punch it will come right out. You will have a few minutes to work with it. Once the heat transfer to the pin , you have to let it cool and start back over.
Milwaukee 1/2” impact is your friend… and a time saver tip.
Well now there's a dang hole in the ozone layer over Northern Utah
Hey Pal that pin might be tappered ?
Stainless steel thread bolt not a good choice Pal.
All the stress of removing the pin is giving you grey’s 😂
Nothing like watching Connor pound his rod
The pros probably use a press. I just wonder if heating while using an air hammer would have worked.
First Californian! Nice move with the Just For Men. No play for Mr. Grey.
I can feel your pain as you go through this buddy. Ugg.
Use a grade 8 bolt, stainless is soft.
Couldn't find one with full length threads
Looked high and low
@@lawnrebel , not sure what size threads you need on that bolt. Maybe a wheel bearing removal installing tool. That setup you had was working, that flat part bending is what strained the bolt. I have a bearing tool, it utilizes a thrust bearing under the bolt. It has different sized cups and a 1/2 thick cap. Google FWD bearing removal installation tool. Was a more popular tool years ago, now they all use use unitized bearing that bolt in. Mazda, ford, Subaru still use that press in style.
Good luck bud, hope you’re done the job!
Take it to the Pro's Connor, pay them to do it and watch what they do for next time or work on your shed because Lawn Season is coming!
LOL, does the carpet match the rug? Thank you for the video!
It's the drapes pal... Does the carpet match the drapes.. And no.... It doesn't
Stainless is to brittle for those type of jobs. Beter good steel( 8.8 or 10.4) but, good job😊🤙
Just needed a bigger hammer.
Did you ever try the rosebud? Stainless steel threads are lousy in torsion. If I don’t need the corrosion resistance I stick with carbon steel. Pin was in there good.
Air chisel maybe?
I felt the frustration watching this video...
I was in a Band named "Coupling Nuts" in 1997
Just a thought. Maybe try the hairspray to remove the pins.
Lol.. Good idea
I thought I was watching Saul Goodman for a minute
Ditch the stainless. It’s soft and galls terrible. Grade 8 steel and a good impact gun.
Yo CW props for the patience bro 🙏. Ida started cutting with that torch 🤣🤣🤣
Why did you take the bottom pin out? You could rebuild the orings with the tube still in place couldn't you?
Hey pal if the garbage business don’t work out you could always be a hair model! Your have always had one lush head hair!
A steel driving man Lord Lord!
It was the presence of duct tape that made it move.
It's true
Never fun getting pins out. Are you taking the cylinder somewhere to be rebuilt or are you doing it yourself?
its pushed in at the factory in Liquid Nitrogen...a git to get out..
One down and 1 to go, you can do it !!!
It's almost like they put those threads in that pin for a reason... 🤔 Almost....
Better call Andrew Camarata 😎✌️
Was about to say the same thing lol.
I would have taken the truck to the shop…
Just pay a professional Conor 🤦🏽♂️ I’m all for doing things myself, but you should know where to draw the line.
Quite brave using a gas axe with all that product in your hair mate
Ok
issuing 2 (digital) violations
1. cords on the floor are a tripping hazard
2. way too much hair spray. I hope no open flames present in the Ward residence
Yeah... Cords.... Didn't you see my ppe?
Use some butter.
Why not just take it to a diesel repair shop and get it done by people who have the right equipment and get it back on the road because if it isn't working it's not making money for you
Slide hammer .
Tried one.. Didn't work. Did you see how hard I was pounding the sledge?
Some things aren't worth doing yourself
Air hammer maybe? 🤷🏽♂️
yeah an air hammer would have worked
Second - nice to see a longer vid man - I hope your well
Ward’s Slogan- Hey pal, when you can’t do lawn care choose hair care- Just for Men
Right. I was hoping that it was going to add gray not take it away
@@lawnrebel jokes on you pal, took away your distinguished gentlemen grey!
Pound town
Vote for Pedro
Love the nepolean dynamite references, is that your favorite movie? You guys speak the same! Dang it 🤣
my fav movies. joe dirt, nap dynamite, juraasic park , and back to the future.
@@lawnrebel Just beat it like your mother did you !!!
What happened? I was hoping to watch you struggle for two days on the next pin.
Anti-climatic! I wanted to see you reach the end!
I didn't see any ear protection. C'mon man!
They are the worst.
Grade 8 washers...............Z
Did you try hitting it with your purse?
I Don't think you need any oPINions about the PIN. Work in progress. :)
🙋♂️ present, sup Connor. Get those pesky little jobs out of your sight, spring is on it's way 🎉
Exactly why I work on the shed in the winter
Hey bud, I don’t claim to be an expert here, but if you hit the pin with another steel pin, you risk swelling it and making it tighter. Most likely than pin will need to be tossed out & replaced. I’ll bet the truck shops are using a press to push the pins out. Gotta give you an E for the effort though.
First Aussie 😁
Why would you have that truck? It’s only good for the roll off dumpsters……
And a ton of other things that can go with that hook.......
He has a bunch of roll off dumpsters, so makes perfect sense for him to have this truck
The pin is bent. Replace it.
It went back in okay
@@lawnrebel wow surprised to hear - I was going to ask how you plan to get it back in. Hopefully you’ll show your process in another video
💥🇺🇲😎🖐💪 What a stupid engineered pin lol why do they make life more difficult to work on stuff, drives me nuts.
Just embrace the gray....and this is definitely not a how to video
the whole hair thing is just weird man
OK
@@lawnrebel I dig it though lol
Not first
