Shug, you are forever on my list of CZcams channels that I will, when a new video is posted, ALWAYS watch. You are a household name with my family and we all love you! God bless, my friend.
Thanks for the kind and decent words. Whooooo Buddy))))
Same here lol. We literally don't even own a TV but we'll watch shug and he cracks us up. Whooo buddy!
I like that.
Just when you think you got your system dialed in, somebody makes a huge improvement.
Temptation...
Been done before but he is doing it very well.
I love you Mr. Obvious Weather man. I wish you good camping and great health man.
Whoooooo Buddy))))
Not sure why insulated hammocks haven't caught on more. Like Shug says, they're perfect for people that don't want to fiddle with underquilts, but I think they're also perfect for cold weather camping when drafts are more than just uncomfortable.
I sorof avoided them...until now. Just back from another trip with it and was warm the whole time.
I can't wait to save up for one of these!! Ive been talking with Danny for a few months and it sealed the deal when I realized the owner is a good person! Go Superior Hammocks!! Youre the best Shug!! You give me courage to extend my season!!
I saw his shop and he is serious and organized. Think he will do well.
@@shugemery im always rooting for a Minnesota boy!!
I'm sitting here in Idaho on the fourth of July with 100 degree weather watching shug winter camping. Thanks man.
Suspension pocket on the stuff sack , genius what an incredible but simple idea.
Truth.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
I'm so concerned about losing the ridgeline stored with my tarp, I'm ready to sew one on to my tarp bag. But maybe inside. And add mini-biners to all the rest. I'm starting to get into having all the hardware for each element to store with the item instead of one big hardware dope bag and individual soft goods in separate bags. But what then to do with the bags? I begin to think about having a length of daisy chain webbing hung up. I saw a camp kitchen at last week's PSH hang where all the utensils were hung that way. Zip zip in and out of storage slicker than owl poop off a wet limb.
There's a particular peace that comes with the first few snows in the Northwoods that shone through in this video. Thanks so much for sharing
It is still new! By April we find it tiresome.....
"The more I do this, the more I want to do that."
Truer words...
Passion escalates......
Thanks for the real world testing of this type of built-in insulation. Yours is one of the few voices of experience in which I would place trust when it comes to hammock recommendations.
Only way to really truly know. Plus an excuse to get out alone.
Saw a superior hammock at Yates hang and it was instant warmth on a chilly day. I love the lack of fiddle factor. It is on my list.
@@gobybike99 Ahhh that is cool. PG throws a fun hang. Trees galore.
Watching with my wife. She’s not a camper but enjoys your humor and laughs along at all the fun! 🤣
Whoooooo Buddy...and Betty))))))
I often find my way to yours videos while lying in my hammock. I have a couple of eyelets in my garage and like to relax and read in it
Good on ye’
Shug, you are by far, the King of Winter hammockers. Be well!
I am more of a Duke.
@@shugemery Right. Kings they cut the heads off. Better to be a Duke. 😂
@@mrwes100 The Dukes just drift along....
you got me on the last early! I yelled out early right away. I find myself yelling out early on a daily bases when me or somebody else says it , nobody gets it . Cheers my friend , another great video!
I have to do it now or get called out. Hickery actually started it between us years ago.
It's an inside joke for us cool kids and Maple King aficionados. :D
Your Karl Childers impression is perfect!

Thankee.
Such a funny guy. I would never winter camp, not in the snow and cold. But you made me think - eh, maybe. The enthusiasm is catching! Stay warm!
Long winter here. So I must. Or I'll pop!
@@shugemery I'm in Mpls, too. But I'm an import. I haven't adapted to the harrowing winters, yet. But maybe I'll take a hike and make myself a fancy cup of coffee!
No chipmunks pretending to be drizzly bears in the winter.
@@horacemyrthit16 I am an import as well. Married a MN gal.
I am glad someone else out there talks to themselves as much as I. Also now I gotta find some of that turtle cocoa I reckon.
I do. Catch myself muttering all the time...with camera off. Disturbing!
Ha! "The son of Maple King" makes a cameo, "Poplar Prince". We miss the Maple King. Hope he can visit soon.
When the time is right...We shall.

Thanks so much for sending this video to me from a recent question on a different video.
Yes!!!! I’m ready.
Continue comme ça!Shug, your video made me feel good and I like your grey tarp-hamac installation in these woods. Here in Paris it is forbidden to go in the forest! They made me miss spring and now fall. They will have to pay one day GRRRRR! Keep it up!
Forbidden because of Covid? Seems to be the best place to be! Accrochez-vous mon ami!
I used to deer hunt and fish some up that way. Family had a place near enough to the 'Baptism that you could hear the water running.
~God's country-- indeed. You are a good fellow to share this treasure with us during these times.
I'd get me a place up that way someday.....
I grew up on Lac Lake ... I love that country.
It must be fun camping alone when you are your own best friend! Great video as always! Very interesting set up.
Sometimes I really get on my own nerves!!! But the aloneness is needed. Thankee.....
Hammock evolution. Folks borrow good ideas from others, add their own good ideas, stir lightly, and voila! It’s good for all, really. But like someone in comments said, you get dialed in and someone dazzles you with something new. Beautiful video Shug.
True. I invented hammocks and everyone stole my idea...haaaa. I wish.
I have a pair of enlightened equipment booties, love them. When the feet get cold I'm done. Really cool hammock. Thanks for another great video.
Truth!
you make me seriously consider trying winter camping. thank you for being such an inspiration.
You should for sure.

@@shugemery Shug, you are the best. thanks for being such an enabler ;) You Rock!
"Grows hair on your lips"......I spit out my coffee laughing.
Whooooo Buddy)))))
I might have to get one of these. Since it goes between 30 and 70 degrees, and I live in the South where it doesn't get much lower than the 30's in the winter this will be a great Fall and Winter Hammock for me.
I am smitten with that hammock for sure.
An excellent review that's delightful and full of all the extra info & fun we could ask for! TY!
Thankee Ivy.
I was excited to see you using this hammock. I have been eyeing it for some time now and being made here in MN makes it all the better! Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment
I hope you check it out. Danny is a good guy. Smitten by that hammock.
I really enjoy your videos sir, thank you for taking the time to make them.
Y'elcome and Whooooo Buddy))))
I always love watching the new vids when I'm working! Makes the time pass much quicker. Thanks for all the entertainment.
Whoooooo Buddy)))))
Fantastic! This is the first hammock that makes sense to a tent guy. Sewn in UQ: WoW! I can use my sleeping bag as a top quilt. I bet I can afford this rig, given what I now own. Thanks for introducing this product.
Whoooooo Buddy)))))
I’m one of them who struggle with uq nice deal ya have there
So many do. This is a solution for sure.
Great video Shug, that hammock looks to be a winner.
It is for sure in contention.Whooooo Buddy)))))
a thing i learned from shug videos is to never have your feet cold. if your feets are not cold you're never cold. and its true!
Feet, hands and head.
Coffee and hammock camping. Everything I need in one channel. Love it!
Nothing like a good coffee in the woods! Be AWAKE~~~~
Looks like a good hammock system to check out. Thanks
It is. Whooooo Buddy)))))
Shug long time viewer 2nd time commenter: Love it man, would have loved to have found something like that when I first got into it. I was watching this video in my living room and the little lady came in right when you were doing the poplar prince and she said "is there something wrong with that man" I just busted out laughing. Keep up the good works my friend!!!!
My Mom told me once when I was acting up..."Jeez, I think you have a twisted intestine."
I started hammocking this May and took to it right away, fits nicely on my motorcycle for moto camping. Fined tuned my system along the way, really was half the fun. I started out with a winners outfitters 11 ft double, a cheap bug net, cheap 40 degree under quilt, had i t down to 34 degrees at night (not bad). Safe to say I am hooked! Watching the plethora of videos from the vast Shug library was a valuable asset to say the least. I will be saving over the winter for the Hammock Gear zippered bug net hammock and a 20 degree under quilt. I love Hammock Gear great company. Thank you for all the information and I will be supporting the channel. And if I may add you sir are a master entertainer which is much needed in an otherwise upside down world! Thanks Shug for all you do, my hats off to you Sir!
I remember when Stormcrow (Adam) made his first UQ then started Hammock Gear. He has done well for sure.
What a great video. Now another product to look at. Wait until the wife hears that. Waiting on snow here in Vermont. Take care and stay safe, Al
Oh. it'll arrive. Whooooo Buddy)))))
Great video, Shug! I have a priest that is mad at you. Kept watching your video and was late for Mass.
Haaa. I got fired from alter boy for impulsive bell ringing. But I took collection. Good at that.
Im in love with your winter videos. Makes me jealous. Jealous enough I booked a trip to algonquin park at the end of the month
Have a right goodie out there!
Your videos not only make me smile and laugh, but also inspired me to get into hammock backpacking. God bless Shug, you rock!

Finally, I've been looking forward to a Shug winter hammock-ing/backpacking video for so long. Great stuff, thank you Sir!
Oh yes...Winter looms. Whoooooo Buddy)))))

Great job on the camera angles, here in Massachusetts we only had one snow storm 6 inches. Well your almost at 100k love the vids keep them coming bud and stay healthy 👍

Another excellent video! The camp sites & the running river water really set the scene. I need to think about investing in one of them hammocks. Saving this video for future reference. Thanks for sharing Shug!!👍 Be safe, see ya 'round

I must have been watching Shug's videos on and off for almost 10 years now, and the Winter videos always bring me back after a Summer of distraction. I'm always grateful to those who share their passion with others.
Thankee Max.
Good to test all the gear to know you are all clear in sector 7!! Good gear lasts a long time...taking care of that gear like you have Shug leads to it lasting a liftime!
It does that good gear. I'm hard on my stuff too.
Omgoodness you FUNNY MAN CRACK ME UP! HILARIOUS DEWD! You are one silly Goose!
I took a Gander at your comment and liked it.
That coffee cup looks like it's duel purpose.
Possibly triple purpose....
Last week I was looking at the materials I bought to make my first under quilt and thought why not just sleep in this? Searched hammock forums for insulated hammock no luck thought I was missing something maybe condensation.
Now I know what to make
what’s that white stuff on the ground it can’t be snow. That only comes once every 10 years.
Greetings from Deep East Texas
They are few and far between. You may like this Superior hammock. Good stuff.
I love the BBQ sandwiches and your appreciation of how long it takes for good wood smoke flavor. I did a half butt roast yesterday and completing the other half today. Every 30 to 45 minutes I stir the coals and add some wood. It's so easy to eat a ton of it!
Now you got me thinking I need to get some butts going for Fall. I gots me a craving!!!
Anybody that puts that much thought into the stuff sack...well...you just know the hammock is gonna be good.
I gotta say sector 7 looks beautiful this time of year.
That is a good point.
Thank ye kindly :)
I have a bripe too. There really cool.
Really fun to have a coffee dose with. I smile when using it.
I just had to order one after seeing this! Seems perfect while camping. I got it half off too!!
@@jessebutler7350 I Briped today. Just a fun way to get a shot. It is small but is a demi-tasse.
Thank you Shug. You made my Sunday afternoon.

Man, you brought ALL the accessories this trip. I love it.
Not all...but wanted to have some good fun.
Damn you can even get it with an integrated bug net... i have everything already.. except for this.. so tempted lol
I love that it is comfortable too. And I usually prefer an 11' hammock.
Dem winter skeeters R mean 🦟
The day my hammock guru and my coffee guru worlds collided... Interested to see what you think of the Bripe after using it for a bit. It feels gimmicky-with-possibilities. And if I ever acclimate to a GE hammock (still getting used to the Draumr too), I plan to try out Danny's system.
Well the Bripe is just cool and fun. A great lil' shot on the go.....
You just sold a superior gear hammock. Thanks so much for your excellent video!
Hoping you get some good warm trips in it.
Looks Fantastic
And it actually was. Thankee.
G'day Shug, please tell the Wombat that made those tracks to come home immediately. lol Cheers, b.
It is going to stowaway on a Quantus flight.
Chocolateynutness 😂 wonder if James Hoffmann would use that as a descriptor?
He may now!
I texted Danny a few times, nice guy, I think I am going find me a new winter hammock. Great to see you back
Good guy. Have I been gone?
Woobuddy!
Great trip Shug. Danny has a great product. Thanks for sharing how it works----in cold nature. Keep it up.
He does really care about it.
Fun fact... You feel warmer after urinating because your body has to keep your urine at a specific temperature to keep it from poisoning your body. The more you know! 🌈🌟
No more holding pee in>>>>>> Thanks for the intel.
Whoah!
But Shug, you didn't stir the coffee slurry both clockwise and counterclockwise!
I failed~~~!!!!
What an awesome trip! It's nice to have equipment work BEOND its range. Really liked the fuzzy jacket.
That is the truth. Impressive.
Your videos are so relaxing yet versatile, I can watch this channel at any time of day, no matter my mood or situation and truly be calmed, and have a good hearty chuckle.

What's that thermometer? I want one, I like the style and my old one doesn't have a way to attach it.

No snow. No sub-zero temps. Flowers are still blossoming. Thanks to climate change.
I hear ya. I'm in the northeast US and we just don't get the explosion of color in the autumn that we used to be famous for. We still get a pretty colorful tree here and there, but climate change has ruined the colors. Sigh...
Our winters vary every year too. But once Minnesota was under a glacier so that gives me a better perspective.
Thanks for sharing the trips as always with us Shug! Liked the story about your auntie and the candy bars!

Yaaaay! New Shug video! Now it’s a great morning... and James Hoffmann is awesome! Learned a bunch from his vids, much like yours. Thanks for being entertaining and enlightening.
James is sometimes too deep for me. But he is funny in his own British wry way. And very smart.

It was Santa-Land for sure.
I have to say thanks for your videos.I appreciate the time out into them .And I hope to retire in about 2 years and do more backpacking.
